- In this video I go through 10 cool and unexpected features of the Toyota 4Runner. Some of them are quite a surprise, and some are definitely more practical than others. I love to find the hidden features that the manufacturers thought we'd all need or love, and were hoping might catch on! Are there any other features you can think of that your 4runner has?

Thanks for the great info. The back mirrors let you see cross traffic when backing out of a blind parking place, garage etc. You ease out just enough and you can see both ways if it’s safe to keep backing out. I have an ‘08 4Runner, I use them all the time, they’re genius.
I'll have to try that!
My ‘08 Limited has speakers in those locations.
Exactly! Once you know that it's hard to believe other vehicles don't have something similar!
yes the back mirrors are blind spot mirrors and they do function well if you bother to notice.
Iv'e used them as they're always there in my line of view, but find its easier, faster and safer to just look 🤷♂
@@christians.cars98 pulling out of a parking spot, they really help, especially if there's a large vehicle parked next to you!
Yeah, that automatic rear latch is loads of when the hatch freezes solid in the winter.
Haha luckily I've never had that happen!
TFS!! I’ve had my 2003 since 2013 and didn’t know several of these things. Very cool. Been a really great vehicle. Thanks again! Happy Holidays ‼️
Glad to help!
Thanks for all these insights ..very helpful..gonna check them out imm on mine..I love 4runners
No problem glad to help! 👍
just got an 03 4runner as my first car, that passenger seat about to put in MAJOR work, good looks my boy
Nice! Just got one last week, didn’t know most of these.
Hey all, 07 4Runner sport edition owner here, by far the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Two other features that I love are the A/C 110amp plug in the center console(not all models came equipped with this feature) I use it to plug in my iphone charging pad that rests on the burger tray freeing up my D/C port. And the collapsible shelf in the cargo area(again I don’t believe this was standard with all 4th gen model 4R’s). Only down fall is she isn’t a 4x4😢. Love your runner bro, the interior is mint.
Thank you so much! I agree 100% with what you've said! Mine being a SR5 I actually don't have either of those 2 features you mentioned, but I do know of them! Would have been hard to include without showing them though! 😂 glad to hear you love your 4Runner though!
I like that light bar placement in the front there.
Thank you! It fits perfectly!
How did you install your front lightbar? And would you do anything differently if you did it again? Thanks! I hope you keep making 4th gen 4Runner content!
Thank you! The plastic trim piece that was where it sits now just pops out and then I used a 90 degree bracket from the store to bolt it to the frame and the lightbar. I know Cali Raised LED has a specific bracket, that would probably be better since mine shakes a little bit on bumps. But other than that I love it!
Nice 4Runner was maybe thinking of getting one. 😁
Thank you 👍 You definitely should get one, they're great!
Thanks for the information 👍
No problem!
Wow, I'm glad I watched this video. I knew 7 of them but was unaware of three (hooray math's) I didn't know about the burger tray in the back or the wind screen on the sunroof, the burger tray because I don't go in the back and when I found the cup holders I didn't investigate further. I'm going to have to watch the wind deflector thing in action, pretty cool. But the biggest thing I learned was #10 which is one I know for a fact I will use. I'm turning my rig into an overlander and I'm certain a point will be reached where I don't want to set up the roof top tent and just crash in the passenger seat, that tidbit of information is priceless!!!!. Also my 04 Limited V8 has automatic headlights FYI. Thank you for the video, I might start a channel for my 4runner!
Great looking 4runner!
Thank you! I've watched a lot of your videos! I'm trying to get mine as clean as yours! 😉
My 2008 4Runner is similarly equipped AND it has been remarkably reliable. I towed a popup camper across the country when my kids were younger and slept in the back end more than a few times when travelling cross country by myself. (My wife insists on motel beds and bathrooms!) I recently added wireless solar powered back and front facing cameras which seem necessary once you get used to them on a newer vehicle. I also put in a bluetooth connection for my phone for a better navigation and satellite radio. My 4Runner is our family utility vehicle and my favorite for all sorts of usage. Knock on wood, but I expect another 100-150,000 miles of reliable use from my currently 15 year old do-it-all Toyota.
So glad to hear! It sounds like you've loved having your 4Runner and have put it to good use! I know you'll continue to love it!
Very cool!
Hey man, love the 4runner. Noticed it in your last video lol, what cold air intake do you have? And was it worth the $? Make any difference?
It's a K&N intake! In all honesty it sounds really good if you give it some gas, and maybe a slightly better throttle response but nothing major. It's great, but I'm looking to go back to the stock box since I've heard the stock box is better off road for not sucking up dirt and dust!
*as a mustang guy I can tell you that aftermarket (oiled rechargeable) engine filters like K&N are proven to make very small HP gains, but oil change analysis also show that they leave silica (dirt) in the engine.
If you care more about your engine than negligible performance gains, I recommend WIX, Purolator, or OEM. This applies to all cars. You should check out the channel projectfarm, he does extensive independent testing on various products.
As a street performance oriented guy even I choose to stay away from K&N, if I were offroad I would 100% stick to a wix or OEM filter. Also, most aftermarket cold air intakes are really a waste of money when it comes to performance/price ratio. Very few cars actually benefit from a cold air intake. Most will see no change, aside from the engine sounding different, and some will even have worse performance . The cars that do benefit from a bigger cold air intake usually need to be paired with a professional tune to make use of it.
Hi mate, thanks for the informative videos. what is the best ssubintion for 4th gen?
Thank you! A lot of people really like Icon, Dobinsons, Bilstein, or Old Man Emu lifts!
Great video! Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Holy crap, I just came across this video. This is in St George Utah on top of the parking garage 😂 I may have ran into your car before. I’m about to pick up a 4 runner myself.
Nice truck! where did you get those shackles hanging from the front tow points? Ive been trying to find some. Thanks
I got these off amazon! These are the RhinoUSA D rings!
hey bro I have a 2003 and I am curious where did you get your drawer unit in the back of your truck? Just like a brand or website, and how do you like them
I didn’t know about the seat!!😂
Which seat?
@@christians.cars98 the passenger seat turning into a bed!
@@Medickep Haha yeah its pretty crazy!! I bet the drivers seat can as well, but definitely not as comfortable! 😂
how do you fold the side view mirrors? Manually or is there a button for that?
where did you get that leather strap on your keychain, it looks nice
it's a thread wallet wrist lanyard 👍
Hello, nice truck! one question --- Your tires looks nice, they are filling body fenders. Are you using spares or TRD Rims have wide offset?
The offset is only 4mm, but it does push them out farther than the stock wheels!
@@christians.cars98 thank you for reply!
I think those little mirrors are instead of a camera. They help you with the rear parking.
I think they might be as well!
Do you have a video how you installed the USB in the center console?
I dont but I might be able to make one!
You have a link to the seat covers bro ?
Both seats fold #10
Very true!
Please share details about about lift kit, suspension and tire size.

@@michaelmumma1103 Body, Fender, bumper, plastic trimming/cut was needed?
Correct thank you!
I had to move the fender liner forward and cut a little of the fender but thats all!
I just noticed something on my ‘05.
There are defrost wires on the rear-most side windows as well as the actual rear window!
Oh wow! I dont think mine have that so thats awesome!
Is that black leather stock? I have a silver 07 limited and I have tan leather..
Mine is an SR5 but the previous owner installed some Katskinz covers! So thats how I have black leather!
My 08 V8 4wd limited has auto headlights 🤙🏼
It must be the Limited trim's that got them! I wish mine had them!
My ‘08 Sport Edition has them as well.
I think a few years ago Toyota made cars better then now, I have a 2021 Tacoma and I think the only update about are the backup camera, the stereo monitor and the pre coalition sensor, it does not come with none of these hidden features.
They definitely put a little more thought into the "Features" of the older models. But sadly I think they stopped doing it as much because people did'nt use them or really notice them when they were new. Give me a few hours with your Tacoma and I could find some cool things 😉
Do you live in Saint George I recognize that spot
I used to yes!
does 4th gen have heater?
Depends on the 4th Gen. and the year of the vehicle you have,
some of the features you have on your vehicle, are not on all the 4th Gen. vehicles.
Oh interesting! What ones do you know?
@@christians.cars98 SR5 V6
For some reason, my key fob won’t bring the window down or up. It doesn’t budge

Are those factory seats?? I’ve never seen black leather seats
They're aftermarket Katzkin seat covers!
@@christians.cars98 Awesome! Ordering some now lmao also your back storage drawers who made those?
@@BlutundEhre1942 A local guy made them and had them in his 5th gen and I bought them and luckily they fit in the 4th gen!
Do you recommend the 2008 or 2009 V8 over V6?
Both are great! It depends on your needs and wants! I would say the V6 has less maintenance. But also has less power, can't tow as much, and doesn't sound as good! What are you looking for when getting a 4Runner?
Does your 4runner have pin stripes? lol Well do you go off-roading? I hate how silver shows scratches easily.
It does have off-road stripes haha but not paint stripes! 😂
If my current 07 4runner sr5 get total, am getting back another 4th gen but the 09
I feel the same! They are the best! 🤘
My 1991 Camaro had that soft touch closing rear hatch window. Just wait till it malfunctions then you'll change your tune. No, I'm not anti 4Runner as I just picked up a 4th gen model 3 days ago.
Hopefully with it being a Toyota though it won't 😂
Trash bag holder 🤯🤯🤯
Best feature 😎
