- With my half marathon fast approaching, it's time to pick a race day shoe. I have the option between the Nike Alphafly 3 and the ASICS Metaspeed Sky Paris. So today, I am going to compare the Alphafly 3 VS the Metaspeed Sky Paris and make a decision on which super shoe will be my half marathon race day shoe.

“I still enjoy being married” 😂 quote of the video man!
Having a non-running spouse means always explaining why you need another expensive running shoe when you already “have” running shoes 😂
I just collect the shoes when she is at work... Got caught with the Cielo X1 and Alphafly V2 (pink) because they stand out..
Yup, I had to return my Alphafly3 because the quality and fit was not par with the previous models. I like the color though and I'm sure many runners love it.
Agreed. I feel like the build quality of my AF 2’s is leagues better.
Good choice! I am subjective tho because I've never got to try AF3. As soon as I tried the metaspeed sky Paris, I knew it would be the right shoe for me. So light and the midsole is not too soft or not too firm. Glad you like the shoe!
Both shoes are really good but I agree that the midsole is improved on the MSP while also having a really light package overall.
Amazing how you manage to compare the rainy-weather-outsole-performance of two new, squeaky clean shoes, one of which you even intend to send back...
The outsole on the sky is basically unchanged from previous models. ASICS also utilizes this outsole for shoes like the Noosa tri. I have run with this outsole enough to know how it feels in different types of weather. I have also run in the AFs enough to know that I trust that outsole more in all weather conditions than the sky. The sky can still be used in all weather conditions but between the 2 shoes, I would pick the AF every time.
First 10k in the Metaspeed Sky Paris and a 19sec pb….excellent shoe.
That’s amazing!!! Congrats on the PB!
Metaspeed edge for my 5k and if I do a half, edge all the way. For McM it depends if I’m able to land a pair of the AF3 or not before then. Lots of time
The AF3 is nice, but I think about late miles and how the lighter shoe may be beneficial
Sky was more of a natural feel for me and for some reason had pain above my left knee trying out the edge. I can run in pro 3's but the carbon plate position/slope is not as steep as the pro 3's. Did a pb in 10k and 1/2 in sky's and will try them for the full. 5k still use sen10.
Congrats on the PB!!!
I picked Asics Metaspeed Paris over AF3 as well. I found it to be better at everything. One thing to notice, the grip in wet was great with AF3, but I didn’t notice any difference with Metaspeed, I think the grip was amazing. Asics Grip (the rubber in Metaspeed series) is fantastic.
That’s really good to know! Thank you for the insight into the MSP outsole grip.
Im still thinking about what shoe to buy. I’m relatively new to racing. Doing my first half marathon end of this year.
Could get the vaporfly 3 for around 220€ or the Alphafly for 90€ more.
My goal pace is 4:45/km if that matters.
Read a lot of comments under other videos that say you don’t benefit from the alphafly until you run faster than 4:00/km. What do you think of that?
Are the 90 bucks more worth it for the alphafly?
Honestly, the Vaporfly would be better for the half marathon. It’s a lighter shoe and the savings is worth it.
I just ran a full marathon in the Metaspeed Edge Paris and the shoes were great! I had a personal best by 5 1/2 minutes. It might have been the 16 weeks of hard training but..... maybe it was the shoes? :)
That’s amazing!!! Congrats on the PB!
It is extremely disappointing you cannot even buy the Alphafly 3. I was on the website at initial drop and they sold out within minutes.
I have( over pronation) do you advise me with ascis meta I used to run with (gel Kayano) but need to prepare for full marathon inshallah
Please give me best option for new shoes. ❤
Thank you in advance.
I would say this shoe may not be good due to the narrow heel. I would try to find a race shoe with a wide base throughout.
@@joshuahubbard_ thank you so much my brother don't forget me Habibi ❤️
Isn’t it more about the drop? 8mm drop vs 5MM.
5MM is more natural and you need to be stronger. 8mm drop feels a bit like cycling to me.
I did my first Marathon in AF2 in 2:47h. But the ride didn’t feel natural and I had issues at the end.
I want to try a lower drop now and see how my body responds. Not sure if adios pro 3 or sky Paris.
The drop could definitely affect you as it changes your gait and foot strike. I’ve never noticed a vast difference when running in different drop shoes but that’s why shoes are so subjective.
YEahhhh!!!!
🙌🙌🙌
Edge or Sky?
5k, 10k, ½ Marathon?
I have not ran in the edge so I do not know. But the Paris should be good for all of those distances.
However the alphafly heel looks unstable
The AF heel and base feels wider than the Sky. It still may be unstable for some but I had no issues.
Definitely Nike quality is bad in all my Nike shoes.. Asics quality is amazing. But until the Metaspeed Paris Nike was a better racing shoe. Metaspeed Paris is the best racing shoe at the moment for sure 🎉.
100% agree. ASICS had an okay racer until the Paris. And Nikes quality has been really poor the past few years so now that the Paris is competitive, the switch was easy.
Outsole durability of the af3 is not good.
That’s interesting! I think the midsole is just a robust as the AF2, if not more. I would assume the durability is just as good.
@@joshuahubbard_ i just ran 10km on them and the rubber seemed it was sanded by sand paper.
Nike alpha fly= Too many Irish Pennants
I almost said that in the video but then wondered if anyone would know what that is outside the marine corps or military 😂

After watching your comparison video between the Nike AlphaFly 3 and the ASICS Metaspeed Sky Paris, I'm intrigued: What specific features or performance aspects of each shoe stood out to you the most during your testing? Do you share your experiences or insights on Instagram? I'd love to follow along and learn more.
The air pods in the Alphafly always are the standout for me. They help with the propulsion and make the shoe feel effortless, especially with later miles. The MSP feels quicker in its turnover and the weight makes the shoe almost feel nonexistent. Both are great choices but I like the weight savings and fast turnover the MSP provides.
