    Those Metaspeed Paris shoes are very tempting. They seem to be absolute bangers, and at 250 euro the same price as the Endorphin Pro 4. The Alphafly 3 is 310 euro, and the availability of the Metaspeed is so much better...

    Love this! Just what i was looking for. My race shoe for this season is the Wave Rebellion Pro 2 and focusing on half and below. Enjoying it so far but also on the lookout for my marathon shoe and have narrowed it down to these 2. Sky Paris sounded appealing due to its weight and price (much cheaper in Tokyo) but AF3 appears to be more aligned with where I land and comfortable overall.

  • @MidLifeRunner

    Still can’t wait to test the AF3. You absolutely nailed the metaspeed. I went on the longer end of sizing and really try to tighten the fit without getting too much bite up top. It’s that or blackened toes with a short fit. Thanks for saving me an extra $250 not getting the Sky to see the difference.

      I still like the sky Paris but after running my marathon in it i wouldn't recommend it for the full marathon for most people. It's narrow and unstable, and I felt the most benefit of the lightweight when running faster than my marathon pace. The endorphin pro 4 is more comfortable and more stable, and feels fun and bouncy at slower paces than the pro 4. I also ran a full marathon in the pro 4 and it was an all around more enjoyable experience because of the comfort and more relaxed feel of the shoe

    Agreed, did a Half M Saturday in the Pro4 and felt like I could have easily kept going. I swapped the laces out with a retired VF2 set, besides that they are good to go out of the box no break in required, cushion, comfort, and stability, perfect for us regular runners. The Edge Paris were way too narrow in the heel and you need to be up on your toes the entire time I am just not fast enough for them.

    I'm 90kg, shoe size UK 11.5 very wide. Most fast shoes are not suitable for me. Currently I have some size 12 brooks that are too narrow but just about work for lightweight, and some wide true motion in 11.5 that give a great bounce. Would love a carbon plated shoe but not sure anything would realistically work for me. I tried the Hoka Tecton X 2 off road carbon plate. It was fast, but I rolled my ankle on every small rock and was too narrow even in size 12, and too heavy to wear on the road.

    • @michaelgriffiths305
      @michaelgriffiths305 4 месяца назад +1

      @onlineo2263 I’m also 90kg 11.5kg Uk. I last ran properly a decade ago (16:32 -5km) but I was under 80kg. Your point is key as I note since starting up that being 10kg heavier it’s clear width, stability is key for bigger runners.
      My view is a bigger runner can take a heavier shoe if it delivers on stability. I used to run Adidas/Asics but having started in Hokas I’ve moved to Saucony. I’m not convinced they’re the answer to everything but super shoe carbon racer wise the Pro 4 is a great entry point. It’s slightly wider and more supportive in the rear/mid sole. That said, the Alpha Fly is wide too so it’s a good option albeit I don’t have one. I’m interested in the out coming Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 depending on its width… maybe the Hoka Cielo or Adidas Pro 4 once it releases?? All seem possibles for bigger, heavier runners.
      Perhaps, If I weighed 75kg or less and had a narrow foot AND was running up to half marathon I’d love to wear the Meta Speed Paris but I’m not, so to me it’s a super nimble shoe shoe for light people with reasonably stable mechanics.

    I wish you could’ve tried the Edge Paris in an 11! I tried both the Sky and Edge in 11s and 10.5s and the Edge in 11 won out by a huge margin for me! (I returned the other 3 lol) I have wide-ish feet and am accustomed to the Saucony EP series and the Edges give me a similar feel to them with the similar aggressive plate shape.
    I’m going for an aggressive HM PR in the Edges this Sunday and am pretty confident in the shoes considering how they’ve performed for me in recent LR workouts. Here’s to hoping they’ll perform the same in race conditions!

    I wonder if you would have thought the Sky was better for the 'thon if it was bigger. Was the size one reason it didn't seem perfect for the race? Remember, no shoe model is short, just that exact size on your particular feet.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  4 месяца назад

    Just thought. With the wear pattern on most of your shoes being in the heal might you consider working on your stride to become more of a forefoot runner. Not a running gate analisyt but seems that landing mostly on your heal slows you down kind like braking. Anyway you are putting in the miles and will meet your marathon goals soon. Just thinking out loud.

      I don’t think there’s a universal answer. There are plenty of fast athletes that heel strike, including Yowana! I’m slow as a tortoise and have a midfoot strike so go figure. What’s more important is not over-striding which can be interpreted as “bad” form.

    Another great video today..a lot of you-tube viewers are influenced by the brands and the elites..there isn't a perfect shoe cos each of us has differents need/wants..for me the I have a couple of non-negotiables..it has to be breathable, it has to be comfortable and the forefoot cushioning has hold up past 22 miles..so far I have not found one that can do everything..there are many that can do that at slower paces,but if you put a lot of power into your foot strike it changes everything..since I run more like a sprinter I overwhelm the cushioning of a shoe pretty quickly..just the way that works for me and why I wear the outsole forefoot off my alphafly V-1s at around 100 miles..the rocket x2 has become my race shoe and my 1st pr survived my 1st racing season better than the alphafly V-1, V-2 are still has just a tad of some forefoot cushioning left at 1/2 marathon distance..got the alphafly V3 and the Diadora cara carbon this week so will see if they have the chop to go the distance..keep doing your own thing and ignore the wanna bes that have the need to tell you how to do your own channel ..😊😊😊

      i'm a lot slower than the elites, so i don't make my race day shoe choice based on what works for them. but if i were to choose based on that, alphafly 3 wouldn't be a bad choice as it holds the current marathon mens world record! RIP kelvin kiptum
      also my general thought is that training has a lot more to do with race performance than the shoes (both for the elites and recreational runners), but here's a video breaking down my philosophy more. might help explain why i prefer the alphafly for the full marathon (more stability) ruclips.net/video/vlUfIOxJcTE/видео.htmlsi=tpBQgMEc2oR8y8h2
