Josephine, I too lost my uncle in November too. My uncle was very sick and suffering and thankfully found peace right before the American Thanksgiving. My family all live in Taiwan and none of my immediate family were able to return. Thankfully, I will return this spring and finally get to say my goodbyes to him. I hope you and your family are able to find solace and comfort soon! I am glad you are back and missed you!

I perfectly understant your experience with this fragrance... my confort fragrance is AKKAD by Lubin... so many memories, so many difficulties and pain in life, but when I wear AKKAD I feel the warm hug of my mother, and a soft traquillity... I dont know why. . My mum didn't wear Akkad, but .. But sonething happen when I smell it.. that's it

I am so sorry for your loss. I can see the pain you are feeling, and I hope that it subsides with time and is replaced with only wonderful memories. I also agree that fragrance is such an important part of memory making in our lives. Not just perfumes, per say, but the gift we have in our sense to experience the world through scents. I have some perfumes in my collection that are 30+ years old (Laura Ashley no 1, Ysatis by Givenchy, some Crabtree and Evelyn, Dune by Dior); when I smell them they bring back happy memories of certain times in my life and my late mother (Ysatis). How beautiful that scents can be so comforting……

You brought me to tears.. how I can relate..all I had to do was see your eyes and I knew you’d lost someone. My eyes look the same…and I actually started my fragrance journey during the time I had lost so many of my family & friends all within a two yr time frame. So the way you described the emotional connection to scent spoke directly to my soul. It’s honestly been my coping mechanism of sorts. Maybe it’s escapism but I need that now more than ever.
