@@SamThomas_YT Next time you do a Big Finish oriented video, warn everyone ok? Not everyone fkn likes Big Finish unless they have plans to animate the audio [which is highly unlikely]
Fantastic video. I have just finished listening to 'Leviathan' and can definitely see why budgetary reasons would have got in the way of it being made. Brilliant story with a great twist for the cliffhanger at the end of Part one.
I remember reading The Nightmare Fair , Mission to Magnus and The Ultimate Evil books when they came out. Great Stuff. I am glad The Lost Stories audios exist. Frontios is my favourite 5th Doctor story.
Super well made documentary! especially that chart with all the scripts found with the later adaptions shown visually, I never knew they had found that many. I'm looking forward to future lost story stuff
This has to be the best video you’ve made so far It was really in depth, informative and interesting. The editing was on point and it was just fantastic all around This has now inspired me to crack on with my documentary
Hey! You finished it! Good job! I recall you tweeting you were making this and Josh Snares' video on the nightmare fair spurred you on. Great video love your stuff.
Great video. What a shame we didn't get the original season 23 at the time as many of these stories were better than Trial Of A Timelord. My two favourites are Leviathan and The Song Of Megaptera. Far better stories than anything Colin Baker got on screen. Big Finish did get the rights to allow them to record and release The Ultimate Evil in the end as well as three other unproduced TV scripts from this era - The Guardians of Prophecy, Power Play and The First Sontarans. The latter of which is another cracker that I would recommend.
I once had the book version of The Ultimate Evil, mainly, to be honest, 'cos I liked the image on the cover, and after a while, I did like the story, but after watching Revelation of the Daleks, I was interested in The Nightmare Fair, and when I heard that it was going to feature the return of the Toymaker, I looked for it, but couldn't find it in the shops. I'm surprised they didn't give Peri the yellow leotard that Nicola was wearing when The Doc drove up to the exhibition as seen in a small clip on The Colin Baker Years
I feel like a lot of the problems with the first series of Lost Stories is they are way more reliant on non-existent visuals, the first two stories especially. Many scenes expecting us to be able to see what the characters are seeing with very little explanation. Leviathan had the advantage of being written as an audio script from its source material rather than it just being a straight up translation of the televised scripts. The Hollows of Time is a weird personal favourite of mine but that's because I love Bidmead's style of science fiction writing. But that's as far as I made it into Series 1, lord knows you've got me wanting to listen to the rest at some point. Would love to see more of this series.
Admittedly I didn't listen to the stories in full BUT what I did delve into I thought had some really interesting material. Some clunky dialogue here and there but really showed promise imo
@@SamThomas_YT They refined the format and really hit the ground running with Series 2, 3 and 4 for the most part. Stories like Farewell, Great Macedon, The Elite, The First Sontarans, Lords of the Red Planet and I’ll even throw in Return of the Cybermen really showcase the power this range has to offer. The Foe from the Future I see continually raved about in many forums and circles but is not one I’ve listened to.
I know it is a bit late, but since DW went on hiatus, it would in my eyes anyway if The Nightmare Fair did run as the comeback story before The Trial Of A Timelord, would give more of a mystery where was Peri and what happened to her. The only thing would be that they would need to cut the trial sequences shorter.
I still have never heard any sensible explanation for why they tossed out all the planned stories, knowing they would have to scramble to get something new together.
Season 27 also had some audios made by Big Finish, some of them are lost stories and some of them are main range plus the companion from season 27 was used in UNIT Dominion and some other stories Three or more novels were made of some season 27 stories, one was also made as a big finish story however two or one remain only as novels and the rest of the planned scripts were never made into stories
@@SamThomas_YT Given how much the production teams of the revival have been super fans I wouldn't be surprised if Moffat heard these stories and decided to use it for the Beast Below. Although I have to admit the idea of Liz Ten is an original idea.
The original Season 23 is a sad loss. Hopefully we wouldn't have had that G*dawful version of the theme tune had things carried on as normal (personally I'd have yanked it off of Saturday nights and stuck it on Wednesdays at 8pm as well since the show was getting hammered on Saturdays by this point)
A decent documentary let down by some odd pronunciation. Chris Boucher - Boucher is pronounced "Bow-cher" not "Boo-chet". Michael Gough - Gough is pronounced "Goff" not "Gogh" and Dr Faustus, Faustus is pronounced "Fow-stuss" not "Fosstuss".
Thank you for making the video i was far too intimidated to make! Lovely work 💕💕
Haha thanks 🥰

The Macros could have given Ingrid Pitt justice after Dr Solow.

Thank You “WhoStudios” (Sam) 👍
An extremely interesting video!
Thoroughly Enjoyed 😊
Thanks! :)

Great editing, and a good topic to discuss. Another great video!
Thanks :))
Can you do one for stories that were planned for season 27
It's like you read my mind
All that’s missing is ‘The Children of January’ and there will be the full lost 23rd Season.
The title alone sparks the imagination.
The Nightmare Fair starring Michael Gove... 🤔
excellent presentation!!! definitely earned a sub

I think thats JNT for you.
Oh my. I like Doctor Who, but there is SO much that I’ve never seen and probably ever will.
Makes you wonder about other episodes that were considered for other seasons.
They should animate theses
What about The Ultimate Evil?
Black glove studios have said they are working on a fanmade audio of Yellow Fever
Season 27 also had some audios made by Big Finish, some of them are lost stories and some of them are main range plus the companion from season 27 was used in UNIT Dominion and some other stories

Ooo definitely interested. Such an interesting story!
I would enjoy hearing that as Bob Holmes is my favorite Who writer. Had he written part of the story or just an outline for it?
@@AnotherScifiGuy I think it was part of the story and an outline maybe
@@TheRealUnkn0wn_289 I would be interested in it. Just finished rewatching two Doctors. Another good Holmes story.
Can you make a video on what we know on the original plans for Season 24 before Colin Baker left.
Was the the idea of a space whale revived for the eleventh doctor story the Beast Below?
I'm pretty sure it was just a coincidence but it may have been inspired
