Good lord, all this makes me despise Catelyn Stark even more. They went through ALL that, with so many deaths in the feign against Tywin and the battle of whispering wood, to capture Jaime Lannister as a critical bargaining chip. And she just releases him in the company of Brienne, trekking across the countryside. All those people who'd died to put them in that position and she just spits on their sacrifice like that?
I think we can all agree to put that down to poor prioritisation.
Speaking of which I see Random Arma 3 Bullshittery 10 is coming along nicely.
It's a parent's moment of weakness. I'm more irritated that she captured Tyrion on the word of Littlefinger.

On a second note, in my useless opinion, the life of an innocent is worth more than the death of a criminal. For all his faults, Jaime Lannister was honorable man , and if she asked him to release her daughters, he would do everything in his power to get them safely back to her.

When the dragons are not around it really feels like actual history!
Yeah, the early books are deeply layered intrigue and deft political maneuvering combined with interesting tactics and culture. But it's obvious from the beginning that everything is gonna devolve into Dragons vs Zombies

That is to be expected when the D&D hacks are in charge writing. What was even the plan during battle of the bastards? Hold still and let them come? Even if Jon didnt fuck up their "plan" by charging in alone it wouldnt have made any difference.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys, in order to get to the north there is only 2 ways, march north or by ship. The safest way and the most logical way would be by ship to east watch. He wouldnt be technically a brother when he gets to east watch and the north was at war with the iron throne. Ned could literally march south to karhold and then to white harbor or further south to the neck. If robb got word that ned would be sent to the nights watch, im sure hed send men to east watch to take him.

Also for anyone asking this is the book version of the battle in the Show Robb takes most of his men to fight Jamie while he sends 2000 of his men to trick Tywin.

Robb will have two sisters where he can marry them to the Tyrells and house Arryn to bound them to the war.
The bookversion is more realistic, because Lannister scouts would notice the difference between a 2000 man army and an 18000 man army while in the bookversion the majority of the army is marching against Tywin. The army that went with Robb also had lots of Frey soldiers, so the Lannister scouts wouldn't notice an essential part of the army as missing

Actually this is a review of the books. Battles in the show are unrealistic crap, while the books read like a treatise on medieval warfare.

The show intro missed a trick there
Another interesting thing is that as Jaime Lannister carved his way through the bodyguards of Robb Stark, the only thing that stopped him was the fact that his sword got stuck in the cleaved skull of one of Karstarks sons. If his sword hadn't become stuck, he would likely have killed Robb then and there.
Robb wanted Tywin to see that the Northerners are up for a fight. The scouts often kept informing of Roose's approaching army.
Wish you had shown the battle of how the northerners and the riverlanders lifted the siege of riverrun
The Battle of the Camps. It would be the logical next step.
That is most likely what will follow the next one is most likely the battle where Stafford Lannister was killed, then Renlys death, then blackwatet

There wasn't much to it really, the Lannister army was divided into three to siege each bank, so the Northern army used concentration of force and defeat in detail to wipe out the siege force while it was divided.
Love the video. My only issue is Lady Catelyn took a ship to Kings Landing to arrive before Eddard Stark and did not travel by road.

It’s not. In the show, the smaller part of Robb’s army marches south to confront Tywin. He even mentions later that it was 2000 Northmen, not 20000 as his spies suggested. In the books, the majority of the Northern army is at the Green Fork, while the smaller part is with Robb at the Whispering Wood and the Camps.
I too was going to comment on the boat thing.
My gripe exactly. The battles described are clearly the book version. So this detail should have been in the video.

This is based on the ambush outside Bergerac in 1345 by Henry of Lancaster. I can recommend Clifford J. Rogers' fantastic article on this battle.

Whispering Wood is a great showing of why a commander cant get too stuck into the fighting. Jamie enjoyed battle. He liked being a knight. He had little care for being a Lord. A good commander fights like Tywin. Stay in the rear, and focus on the big picture. Robb suckered the Lannisters into an excellent ambush. If Jaime was more focused on the battle, rather than soldiering, he wouldn't have gone into such canalized terrain to get ambushed by the young wolf.
Oversll, Jaime isn't a moron even here. But he definitely lacked the temperament for command at this time. Thw Jaime Lannister who commanded the Reach Campaign five years latter would've slapped himself over the head for such a mistake.

Just finished Catelyn's chapters right now, i just gotta say I've never been this hyped reading a book. Like wtf man that was so good, especially the part where jaime was straight solo'd Robb's men shouting his name
Yh Jaime charging at Rob and slicing his men was such a badass moment. I wish we could have seen it in the show. Then maybe audience viewers would shut up about Jaime being overrated

The show doesnt show any of robbs battles because catelyn doesnt witness them in the middle of the fighting in the books
in the book there were chapters from random soilders on robs side and those were my favorite, its been a while but i think it was in ACK that soilders are lineing up to fight the lanester army and they point out gregore as a scary mother*** but another soilder calls him arrow magnet. I know the show has a budget and these scenes would cost an insane amount but i would love to see them animated, i wish HBO had an animation studio and would make a anime style version of GoT

One minor correction. Catlyn sailed to Kings Landing.
Making Ned his "Hand of the King" I can't help but feel that Robert condemned house Stark into a series of tragedy that would almost lead to their downfall. Fortunately that never happened but it came real close.
Yeah Robert should have let Ned be and chosen Stannis.
Ned simply wasn't cut out for life in the capital. Honour was never going to win over the shrewd politicians in KL.
Littlefinger is the most important character in game of thrones because he's first of who plotted to poisoning lord Arryn then he send a message to Winterfell to start a war between Starks and Lannisters , and this is was the reason of war of five kings
Robb should have executed Jamie the moment he heard about Ned

Tywin was outplayed by Rob several times and didn't have the capability of "destroying" him whenever he wanted.
Also, Bolton only made a move with Tywin and Frey during a wedding, he wouldn't of openly opposed Rob during war, who had all of the north. That would of be suicide.

I said ASOIAF...it's a given. In fact, it's an understatement, I've read them several times over, discussed passages at length, analyzed and theorized, picked apart dialogue and breadcrumbs that GRRM left behind about complex theories. If someone obsessed as me didn't read the books they wouldn't be a true fan. I've committed thousands of hours of my life to knowing the world of A Song of Ice and Fire like the back of my hand.

You know, there's a theory that Roose Bolton lost on purpose and took special care to ensure most of the casualties he suffered were Stark troops or troops of loyal Stark bannermen.
Why? Blackwater hasn't happened yet and Starks are the winning side
nah roose was loyal to robb until stannis lost and robb lost support of the karstarks and betrayed his oath to the freys losing thier support and troops and only way forward after that was dying with robb so he betrayed him instead.I been reading the books roose is a pos traitor but its explained better in the books why he betrayed robb and tbh he gives a good if selfish reason why he did what he did but ramsay is a fucking serial killer tho and roose doesn't even trust him 100% unlike in the show where lets him hug him book roose would never let ramsay within 10 feet of him lmao
I really can't believe they cut almost the entire battle for this, both of them, in the series. This is an epic showdown between the lion and the wolf. Quite honestly wouldn't cost that much to film either, even in the early seasons, amush scenes can use tricks like heavy arrow fire and quick shots to make it seem bigger. Oh well.
I would happily watch a 2 hour map recap of the entire game of thrones tv show if u would make it and I assume others would too. The way u display it is absolutely amazing

Battle of Bastards probably wont happen since its a show only thing and show has little strategy involved in it. Battle of Winterfell and Battle at the Crofters' village are more likely to be shown.
