      @@oibardicfury9333 That's not only wrong, but in the current scenario of the books impossible in the way the show portrays it. **Spoiler warning for those who have not read Book 3 and the Theon preview Chapter.
      Stannis in his current state is surrounded inclement weather and preparing to face the Bolton army. He is near Winterfell and not even with Shireen. The logical, capable commander that he is left his family as well as Mellisandre at the Wall (because they are non-combatants) when he departed to fight the Boltons. Furthermore when the fanatical portions of his army are burning unbelievers on their way to confront the Boltons Stannis bans them from doing so and says: "Half my army is made up of unbelievers. I will have no burnings. Pray harder."
      It is possible that Melissandre at the wall could commit the attrocity with his wife who is devoted to her, but please do not deceive people in saying that Stannis will commit the act when as any book reader knows that he has no ability to do so before fighting the Boltons. Now let's exmamine his intent, this quote about his feelings towards Ramsey Bolton should indicate to you how nessecary he might feel any sacrifice particularly of his daughter for the sake of winning the battle.
      (Speaking to a captured Theon)
      "I defeated your uncle Victarion and his Iron Fleet off Fair Isle, the first time your father crowned himself. I held Storm's End against the power of the Reach for a year, and took Dragonstone from the Targaryens. I smashed Mance Rayder at the Wall, though he had twenty times my numbers. Stannis
      - Lead by example
      -Great servant of his brother: The king Robert Baratheon
      - was a faithful husband and even confessed to his wife after being unfaithful
      - loved his child
      - loved his wife even though she did not provide an heir
      - Was at the forefront at war
      - Listened to the counselor (atleast until he was brain washed)
      - prioritise saving humanity against the Others/Zombies instead of focussing on the thron
      He could have been a great King, provided he broke ties with the Witch and was selfconfident .... and Eddard Stark knew it.

Therefore he can have more support to his claim as a King and gain support of the north and then the Riverlands which was his next goal. However Jon refused it. Second option is making Rickon warden of the north, if he could find him. He surely will win against the Boltons and then the Freys.

    What?
    8 Great Houses. He is the head of House Baratheon. He's married into House Lannister. His best friend is ruling House Stark. Best friend's wife's family is from House Tully's main branch. His hand of the King and father figure is the head of House Arryn, plus he is also married to best friend wife's sister making the Riverlands alliance even stronger.
    So that's 5/8 main houses supporting him completely, and Greyjoy's are one of those three remaining. So that only leaves the Tyrell's and Martell's, the Tyrell's who do whatever they can to be on the winning side, so they would also be on Robert's side. They can fight on behalf of the free cities in the narrow sea to attack the shipping of their enemies or raid their shores. They could even do the same for the Iron Throne. The Greyjoy Rebellion is hilarious because it gave Bobby B. the one thing he craved for and excelled at far better than ruling a kingdom... A war. Even with book material I can't fathom how Balon seriously thought Robert Baratheon was that weak. Robert overthrew the Targaryens. Balon seriously thought Robert had no power to marshal the strength of the Seven Kingdoms to beat his rebellion down.

      @SantomPh 6 лет назад +6

      GRRM does not need to do so, as ASOIAF is written as a series of viewpoints and maesters' writings. No one sees a battle the same way, so an overview is next to impossible. All we need to know is that Maeleys joined eight other rulers and was going to invade the Westerosi mainland, King Jaehereys II called the banners, many of the grandfathers and fathers in the main story made their bones, Lord Baelish made friends with Lord Tully, Aerys II won his knighthood, Quellon Greyjoy joined in and Barristan Selmy killed Maelys Blackfyre and joined the Kingsguard.
      That's all that needs to be known, really.

    I just found out about your channel because I was rewatching a lot of Game of Thrones stuff. Your high quality videos are really interesting to watch. Very educational and the animations and sound design are just brilliant! And I just saw that you make videos about non-fictional stuff as well! Really took a while to get why you call this an April Fool's episode haha
    Anyway, you make amazing content! Here before 10 million subscribers.

    This was a really well done video!! I really enjoyed this, and they say the whole video was produced is extremely impressive. Instead of just looking like yet another Game of Thrones RUclips video, this video looked like it was made by the show runners as a DVD extra feature. I love how you narrated every part of the Greyjoy rebellion, and the visuals were just as impressive. The animation when it showed the small council meeting when the message was delivered to Pycelle,then Robert got up and walked to the window was cool. Also the animation of Victarion and the iron fleet being trapped in a pincer between Stannis' and Paxter Redwynes' fleets was really cool also. I'm definitely leaving a like on this video and am subbing to the channel to check out more of your content.

      Apart from when you have a slave force to do everything for you. It is reminiscent of Sparta and how Spartans were, in the main, soldiers, priests, traders or nobility and had a pool of slaves called the Helots do everything else for them.

      Roberts forces were much superior and outnumbered them like 10 to 1. Splitting the forces was probably better to end the invasion quicker. Each “small group” was probably a relatively large army that was more than enough men to conquer each island. Let’s not forget the iron islands was one kingdom, that didn’t even have a large population. They were facing invasion from like 5-6 large kingdoms with fertile lands that are much more populated.

      @@lucasfragoso7634 Napoleon would always split his forces into separate self-sustaining armies that way he could be quicker and then call upon them to unite when facing a greater army. Each “army” that attacked each island was likely self-sustaining with its own supplies

    • @Dell-ol6hb
      @Dell-ol6hb Год назад +1

      Robert had like 40,000+ men why would he not split them when he vastly outnumbers the Ironborn? They wouldn't be able to sustain something like that if they had to land an army that large on each island

    It shows how amazing of a story teller and writer GRRM is when his stories and the design of the houses and kingdoms is so organic and believable that if I didn’t know what GoT was I’d be sure that this was an actual event in history

    Watching the show, Pyke seemed more like 2 creaking towers, barely separated from the coast.
    The read gives us actual islands that could actually yield up an army.

      The read gives us a bunch of non plot advancing nothingness. Dany STILL isn't in Westeros. The books are too damn slow. I'm glad the show got it over with. We'd still be sitting here 20 years later with no ending. You people are just sadists and masochists for wanting a story to never end. I started this series in '99, and I'm glad it's over. Thank you HBO and the show. If it were up to GRRM, the plot would still not really have advanced since Storm in 1999!!!! F GRRM!!!!

    I already knew all this from reading the books, but watching your animations coupled with your fantastic narration helped me see the rebellion through new eyes. Keep up the great work and consider the dance of the dragons for your next ASOIAF war video. Or maybe some of the ancient wars between the Valyrian Freehold and the Ghiscari Empire, or the Valyrians and the Rhoynar, or the war between Tyrosh, Lys, and Myr that occurs during the books but only in the background.

    My friend keep asking me why I like Stannis. This is one of them : he is actual commander with actual skill and brain, not some mary sue with cgi dragons. Honestly when was the last time Daenerys had to use his OWN ability to solve a problem instead of "burn them all *que the epic music*"

    • @dot818
      @dot818 6 лет назад +19

      Man ... you can't blame Daenerys for being a Mary Sue and also blame her for not using her own abilities to solve problems. The feature of a Mary Sue IS her ability to solve everything on her own.

    • @SantomPh
      @SantomPh 6 лет назад +18

      Daenerys is no Mary Sue, she is one of the main characters. And using dragons is one of her OWN abilities. She has Grey Worm, Daario and Barristan Selmy to handle military affairs (plus Meereneese who are absent in the show).
      If you can't handle fantasy, go read something simpler. I'd suggest the Peter and Jane books.

      Well, she did come up with the battleplan to take Meereen, in the books. Every character had been ruined in the show.
      Besides, she's a child. Not a seasoned commander who had been trained in the ways of war.
