Bridging two worlds. I grew up on British Comedy, especially Russel's show. seeing Him interact with Bert is so surreal I'm very grateful these two got together !

@Safe Most of my comedians are American now, but I still have that British foundation of comedy growing up . I heard someone explain it to me and I like this explanation, British comedians can make you laugh at them in a self-deprecating way vs Americans make you laugh with them instead of the self deprecating value that makes me relate to them more. so too me it's so noticeable, so I want the material to be good enough.
Honestly never thought I’d see Bert and Russell in the same room but it’s brilliant. A perfect relaxed narrative of the intricacies of comedy and the differences and similarities of comedy on both sides of the Atlantic! Definitely made my day 😂
@@GSharp66 I forgot about Russell’s eye, it’s not noticeable. The only reason I know is because he mentions it somewhere if I’m remembering correctly. Yeah I really liked the interview they had with each other. Normally Bert is all over the place, but this was a good episode.
@@Laidback_Ex A lot of the humour in 8 out of 10 cats are in jokes and topical humour though, I could see Bert just getting confused with the 'Britishness' lol
A lot of Americans can play into the lack of knowledge about Britishness on those sort of shows and it works well enough. Sarah Silverman, Reginald D Hunter, Michelle Wolf etc. have all done appearances and it has gone down well.
This was a real pleasure to watch gents. I had Russell in my cafe in Bristol before his special - and he's just a nice, laid back, down to earth dude. If you're ever in Bristol Bert, coffee is on me 😜
I met Russell in Chicago back in like 2013 and he was just the most genuine dude. So nice. Been a fan of his since I lived in the UK in 2010. One of the few comedians that can make you laugh your ass off for an hour and a half straight and then make you cry because he gets so deep and then make you laugh again while you're tearing up. His stand up is an emotional roller-coaster in the best way possible. His older stuff is all on peacock too and well worth checking out
wow Rus was my favourite comedian in highschool, haven't thought about him in ages this was such a cool throwback. this is going in the regular re-watch pile along with Daniel Sloss and Taylor Tomlinson
Yea I really enjoyed him, I think with most comics in the UK like this, they tend to get involved in some shitty British game shows and become a regular on a fairly family friendly safe programme
I hope this reaches you bert, like a fart in the wind, This is my favourite bertcast, I really enjoyed the whole thing 👏, It was like the multiverse of comedians, I loved it.
Just want to say to Bert..bin from the UK and I'm a long time fan. I am extremely impressed with how you listened during this interview. I understand there is an urge in you to interrupt by accident lol this tho Bert, you smashed it mate. Can't wait to see the show
This was great! Only heard of Bert from TrueGeordies podcast, liked Russell for years, but this is the first podcast i’ve ever watched the entire way through, they’re usually too long for my attention span but this was really good, thanks 😁
Two of the world's best stand-up comedians in my lifetime still going who kill and f****** standout is you Bert kreischer and Russell Howard keep up the marvellous working never stop doing what you what you're doing because you made me realise I can do more
Might be the most balanced conversation I've seen on Bertcast yet! Maybe the partying in Europe slowed you down a touch Bert 😉 However, it made for a great chat between two brilliant comedians 👍
that Ralphie May joke was amazing. On another day that might have tore the roof off the place, lol. also a Bert tour of village pub games would be hilarious.
"I'm feeling the younger generation biting at my heels and I've never felt that before" yeah Bert because you weren't old. You WERE the younger generation and now you're the older generation. That's how life works....
Daniel Simmons I was on Russels show like 10 years ago and it was one of the funniest sets I’d seen when I first started watching comedy. Hopefully he blows up
used to watch russell howards good news back in the day on bbc 3 as a 9 year old. after years of not following him good great to see the man he has become and his outlook
Best gig I ever saw was at Up The Creek Too - Russell was MC for the evening, Ian Stone, Ricky Grover and Jimmy Carr headlining. Must have been about 2000-2001, just before Russell became a fixture on tv comedy panel shows...Russell was just working the crowd for two hours.
Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. I think it’s the amount of panel shows we have in the U.K. By the time a comic is big enough to get an audience for a pod, they can usually earn decent money just doing the rounds on panel shows. I don’t think the U.S has as many comedy panel shows as the U.K, so pods are a nice earner between standup shows. Maybe 🤷♂️
Bert, if you are ever in the UK for a longer period, you should to get Russel to put you in contact with Alex Horne and see about going on Taskmaster, would be the perfect show for you!
So great to see this American and British mix. Both the quintessential examples of their nationalities too. Couple of comments here that Bert should do a panel show, hoping Jimmy Carr can make that happen one day, on one of his.
2 of the best. Russell has long been my favorite standup. The TV show on Sky is the best. Met him in DC too! Nice chap. Hope this makes him better known in the states so he can tour more!
Imagine Bert on a series of UK Taskmaster. Gold.
I would pay good money to see that
Jesus... that would be the most ridiculous shit ever filmed. I can only imagine Greg Davies laughing his ass off at Bert the entire time.
oh the possibilities . "bert the answer was under the table, not your shirt"
I was thinking that the other day
Omg yes please 🙏 😍
Seeing Bert talk to Russell Howard in a pub is surreal in the best kind of way 👌
I’m blown the fuck away by this guy. He’s a chill as fuck sage
Completely agree😂
It’s terrible
I wonder why the place is so dusty.
A dive pub lol
I could see Bert doing really well on some of those British panel shows. Would love to see him around Lee Mack.
The only one would be Mock the Week, because that's great for an egomaniac. The rest of them are polite, knockabout comedy panel shows.
Lee Mack yes, Frankie Boyle would be interesting too...
My god I would love to see Bert with Lee Mack.
@Sludge rip Sean 🙏🏼
Maybe not QI.... wait, yes QI!
“I know lots of British comedians” - rattles off a a few Aussies. Cracked me up, such an American thing to do. Loved this podcast
Such a Bert thing to do.
What a guest RUSSELL HOWARD!!!

makes me feel old man xD
Yeah British comedy is better than US growing up. But since the UK is a 1/10 of Americas population its greatly underlooked.

Why is this so wholesome and sweet?!! Bert fan-girling over Russell so hard. Rus is such a lovely human being.❤️🥰
Russell "My wife is a doctor" Bert "Is she Indian" 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Such a Bert thing to say.. Priceless 👌
It's things like that , made Tom segura call him a racist and wind him up constantly 😭 Bert's a legend though, I'd love to see him on British TV more
It's funny too because there are a LOT of Indian doctors in the UK and I feel pretty sure that Brent doesn't know that
@@TheGeneralDisarray i think everyone knows that lmao
So nice to see Bert so calm and listening for a change. As for the beanie ...looks like a goofy gnome 🤣🤣. I love Bert and Russel ...two great comics.
As a UK guy this was a really unexpected crossover 😁
You seen jack whitehall on the whiskey ginger one?
It really is wierd as a brit.
We should set frankie boyle on them.
I think Bert is subconsciously kept in check because I think Russell also has ADHD and keeps it in check haha
"My wife's a doctor" "Is she indian?" the sheer acceleration of Bert's ADHD is breathtaking
😂😂
I have loved Bert for years, and Russell for almost as long. As an American in the UK, this is fantastic for me
You know what this is probably one of the best Bertcast episodes in a while.
its mad to think I was 14/15, growing up on Russell Howard and now I'm 28 and Russel looks younger than me lol
Man I was literally thinking the same thing
Russell is in his 40's and he looks bloody better than he did n his 20's
I saw this and honestly my first thought was, "no fucking way burt knows Russell howard" 🥰 but im so so glad he does!!! This makes me happy
Russell is SO funny. And one of those people who are a blast to listen to talk about comedy and life. Great ep!!!!
2 of my favourite comedy personalities together, magnificent.
One of THE best Bertcast in a long time. This is Bert in his element. The world needs more
For any Americans that want to watch Russell watch his older stuff he was one of the best around for a long time.
I seen Russell live in Newcastle UK 2019 I think it was and he was absolutely brilliant! Such a lovely guy with a great big heart ❤
So glad you’ve had Russell on the podcast. Such a talented comedian. Great conversation!
I really enjoyed this! As a fan of both comedians it was fantastic to hear you both discuss the art of comedy.
It seems Russell Howard has the ability to cure Bert’s ADHD.
He's genuinely hyperfocused on him
It's the lazy eye keeping his attention

Oh hell yeah big fan of Russell big fan of Bert unexpected but needed!
Well said...was just thinking the same..been lucky enough to meet Russel twice
Do you have a brain injury?
I hope this leads to some more of the british comics coming onto Bertcast. I would love to see him interact with James Acaster.
