brother i have got to tell you i have broken over 22 bones collectively in both hands, i have hyper tension and ADD, so to say i have issues tends to be an understatement. but you have inspired me through your videos and Facebook posts to start me own studio. which has been a pet project for around 6 months now. just want to say thanks for showing me and others that we can work with through or around our disabilities and still enjoy this fun hobby of ours thanks a lot.
Stunning work Dave! Looked like a pretty challenging build. Loved the format. Delighted by the 'Starbug Green' of the ship - and was that the dulcet tones of Andrew Leman reading some HPL I could hear???! Legendary hobbying as ever.
Love the chilled vibes of this format. The mixture of different styles of music and the video audio in the background works really well for me. As usual, the cinematography is great.
love your videos MsPaints, I call them 'appointment viewing', whenever I see the notification I always look forward to sitting down and watching them. keep up the good work mate, much love.
They look awesome, I love the atmosphere the lights create. The green ship kinda reminds me of Starbug from Red Dwarf...nah that's a property I'd love to see a tabletop game of.
Cool build! Another technique you might like is panel scribing, from the gunpla world. Basically tape and templates to guide scribing tools to add your own panel lines to plastic surfaces. Too bad about the tamiya paints over hairspray. I think they are alcohol based, not water, so I guess the reactivation properties are different. Good lesson, thanks for not editing it out. Cheers!
i love these long form more vlog style videos. super chill. Great to hobby along to, like just hanging out with a mate while you both just get on with your own hobby shit
For some reason, RUclips switched off notifications from your channel. I've rectified that and now have this and many weeks worth of vids to catch up on. Annoying, but actually pretty cool in a way that I can binge your content. Thanks, love the channel.
It's gone 10pm on a Friday night, I'm stuck on a delayed train trying to get out of Liverpool, I won't be home until after midnight. This is exactly what I needed.
Love the Thunderbird 2 green. I would love to see more Stargrave content, curious to see what kind of rabble you'd run with...in space, and that's space the way Tim Curry said it in Command and Conquer.
Great intro. Played a good bit of '5 Parsecs from Home' and am about to jump into 'Stargrave' or 'Space Station Zero'. Definitely have a hankering for doing a spaceship junkyard now after watching this.
Stargrave is pretty legit, but one you might also wanna try? Reality's Edge. If you need a list of 'NPC minis' that appear in the game I can compile that for you before you make the buy, just respond here and I've got you. Could also help you with Stargrave's 'required minis' if you like, I've got the main book and 2x expansions. (Could also point you in the direction to find minis that work great for them if you like)
The green base coat made me think on the 90s style dark angels ... So much that I started to se the dropship wearing a soutane, and then I remember to take my pils 😅
fantastic work! I do like the idea of the Armadillo just being the ubiquitous pattern that everyone has because they're rugged versatile base that can be found for cheap on the black market and modified to fit most any purpose. Really making me consider getting into Stargrave myself I was literally just typing up an ask as to what the tool was, and when I went to grab the timestamp it's right there for me already. Fuckin excellent word dude, you've outdone yourself again!
Watching your intro I just realised I have some stuff I can use to kitbash a drop pod. Thanks for that. Now I'm wondering what the rest of the video will bring.
Hi great movie love your work was considering making one of those into a Adaptus titanicus coffin/drop ship btw can we get a list of the music you used in this video I really loved the firefly like guitar music in the start
I just want to say that people like you do nothing but add to the overall greatness of humanity. Dispite your disability you still over come and find a way to bring a light into this world. I hope some day we as a species can find a cure to ginger. Much love peace.
I just want to say thank you for all your videos. I got Covid in June of 2022, and have been off work due to post-viral fatigue for the last 9 weeks so far (with no end currently in sight). I haven't been able to really do any hobby in that time and it sucks. And then I found your channel. I've mainlined all your videos over the last 2-3 days, and they give me hope that I'll be able to get back into doing hobby at some point. So thank you for everything you do, from a new fan down in New Zealand
Thanks Snow! Glad you’re enjoying the videos. I hope the long COVID fades soon and you can get back into the hobby. We had it over Christmas and took forever to go, but it’s amazing once it lifts! Take care 🐸❤️
Great video as usual. I just picked up a couple of the purple (Zurg?) fighters. Skipped the drop ship, but wish I'd grabbed one now. Is it required for Stargrave? Or just for flavour? If needed I'll definitely go and grab one of these drop ships, as I have a copy of stargrave on its way
The ships turned out great. The drop ship with the lighting and internal details was sweet as hell. The Buzz Lightyear toys are great for sci-fi. I have two... the "drop ship" and the Zurg fighter... and they work so well for gaming. Scale is spot on for 28mm minis. Use them in Stargrave, Space Weirdos, and Space Station Zero. Went with a hot rod red look for the fighter as well. It just looks like a sports car version of a spaceship.
Hi, I'm a professional electronics teacher and former pc mainboard repair man. My soldering tip: use a smaller soldering tip. Yours is way to big, it transfers a killing amount of heat to your led and electronics stuff. Start with the smallest tip you can find. Way more safer for your stuff.
Love the use of those red LED's and must say I enjoy using old toys with our 40k orks to kitbash random vehicles....this one definitely gives me Starbug vibes though! Was half expecting to see The Kat in the cockpit😂 ❤🐻
@@MSPaints Last time we met I was wearing a cute little black number with peach trim and gold spangles, and although it looks like I'm wearing the same outfit today, it is in fact an entirely different cute little black number, with completely different gold spangles!
Very excited by this video , plus another great viewing piece - cheers Dave. I've been mulling over learning about stargrace recently so your kit customisations are well timed indeed
Loved this, thanks for showing the scale of the ships at the end with different minis. I've been wanting to do space ships for an Infinity board and these look setting appropriate without breaking my wallet. Also enjoyed the music throughout.
I *LOVED* this video, and it's inspired me to pick up that big Zurg ship you unboxed earlier in the vid. Usually I just watch your vids, and I love and enjoy them, but this one was just so cool I had to give it a try, and am even talking a friend into stargrave as well as a result. I kinda doubt I'm gonna do any fancy electronics stuff with it, but we'll see what happens once i have the thing in hand. But I can tell you one thing, and that's that I really, really hope you make a video covering whatever you end up doing with yours. I would love to see it, and the ship has such a cool design I'm sure there will be other people who would as well.
You may be interested in the Rebel Moon popcorn bucket dropships. The film tanked so they're usually on clearance for $7-15 USD. They have a weathered paintjob so they're table ready out of the box, no need for covering up the bright child-friendly colours. It's hollow with a flat bottom and removable upper 'lid' leaving the option for fun interior builds. Decent scale for 28mm stuff, looks nice. Could use a small fleet of the things if only for filling out a space port parking lot to play through, but the conversion potential looks great.
This on the second monitor and I thought "oh he must be watching YT in the background" then I here the dulcid Canadian tones of Camping With Steve! NOICE.
Stonking video, and I was wondering about picking one of these up last week. The small Armadillo looks a bit too small to be 28mm scale (for more than one person in particular), but the large one looks perfect for an actual crew ship.
Top job. I'd been wondering about doing a spaceship as a terrain piece for 5 Parsecs From Home and the like, but I'd been expecting to have to faff around with foamcore boxes detailed with 3d printed greebling. This is like a jump start with half the work already done. Cheers.
Awesome vid once again Dave. Love the use of toys adapted for gaming. Just one question, Do you think the design team for the film nicked the idea of the ship from Thunderbird 2 ?
Loved the video and more inspiration again. I've been working on a bunch of stuff you've inspired. Especially grimy things! You seemed a bit melancholy throughout though, hope all is OK as can be.

Yes, the OSL looks great with terraintronics

That was indeed the dulcet tones!
I love hearing "Camping with Steve" in the background. 😂

Aye! Made the choice about halfway through. Colour scheme that works!
I thought the same thing about Starbug when I was watching as well!
I think there was a tabletop RPG of Red Dwarf a while back
I was getting Thunderbird 2 vibes, but yeah, Starbug.

Absolutely! The nibbler! Spent hours searching but there it is! Not a very common tool but cheap enough to add to the arsenal!

You outdid yourself, again, dude. Great customization going on here.
