Sync 3 is by far the best touch screen / infotainment system I have used, and I have used A LOT of them. The voice commands for Sync 3 are very responsive and holds over 1000 commands for your convenience.
Sync 3 will first be available in the 2016 Ford Escape and also the 2016 Ford Fiesta.

I'm going to need them to offer a dark theme for all their buttons. The absolute last thing I want to see driving at night is a screen full of white 1990's shaded squares full of small terrible text. Glad to see the speed and feature improvements of course, but this interface is way too plain and not suitable for night driving.
+Ryles Malone I'm sure this changes to a dark theme at night. Check out the new jeeps, they change for night driving.
Mike, love your videos! Just ordered 2, yes 2 2016 Edge Sports. Cant wait for the power, look and sync 3. My wife wanted to upgrade from a 2013 Edge Limited and liked the 16 so much I ordered one too! Your video's have certainly helped in steering us towards that particular model and trim. Thanks!

I see you still have to confirm the temperature you specified in Sync 3. That is the stupidest part of MFT. That and when you want to cancel a route and it asks if you want to confirm it. Like just do what I said the first time! Who says "cancel route" by accident after pushing the voice button!? I wouldn't have gone through those steps if I didn't really want to cancel it/make the temperature what I specified.

I am planning to get a 2016 Ford Fiesta with the sync 3 but without navigation. I was wondering if you could connect a gps like Tom Tom to sync 3?
I already have Nav in my SYNC 3 but i don't have MAP of middle east how can i fix this issue?
Does the sync 3 let u view images and photos on the sync screen from your phone album while connected with the USB and Bluetooth??? Thanks

Yes it is faster but I am going to miss the customized wallpaper of the MFT.

Nice video. We just got a new 2016 Escape Titanium last week with this, has the nav and all. The sync 3 is a vast improvement. I'm very impressed. I found ours with a 1.6 Ecoboost instead of the the 2.0 which is somewhat unusual for a Titanium. Its quite new so there was only one guy at the dealer that day that had any kinda experience with it and been through the training.....Ive learned a lot more about it on here. I love the app-link from our iPhones and it didn't take the wife long to learn how to add her own background images of our daughter on the screen.

Yep! The guy at the dealer admitted this was only the first one they had on the lot. Felt bad for him but we kinda learned together. Good guy! He was very cool.
Definitely a much "techier" escape than the 2011 Limited we moved from.
I am curious if anyone knows how to do the Wi-Fi with hidden Wi-Fi spots? my home Wi-Fi is hidden per say.
Just a question I have sling box on my iPhone where I'm able to watch my tv from home on my phone, I'm wondering if I can screen mirror my phone on the display there what do you think? If so that would be awesome 👍🏻😜

I noticed that you connected an iPhone to the system, and as such, Siri was an available option on the touchscreen. Do you know what happens, in this case, if someone were to connect a non-Apple device?

Thanks for the awesome video. One quick question, what's the wifi function here? I was wondering if it's connected to your phone or it's a separate network by the vehicle itself.
Ford owner here but not Sync 3. On all the previous models, it is a personal WiFi network that uses your Bluetooth PAN to broadcast your mobile data through a new WiFi network so more devices in your car can get Internet.

I couldn't connect two bluetooth devices at a time.
I can pair both but connect only one at a time in SYNC 3.
I wish to connect one as a phone and the other as media for music.
I could do it with MyFord Touch.
I am disappointed.
+Arup Ray I agree. This comes in handy when I use my phone for media, but my wife's phone for calls..

I just got a 2016 ESCAPE SE yesterday, and opted out of the navigation package. The dealer himself recommended just using my iphone for navigation. I know Siri is heard giving directions through the SYNC, but I was wondering if anybody else uses this method and do you get along well without having to see the physical Navigation screen?
+stillme4you I have the My Ford Touch version of Sync in my 2015 F150. I didn't get the navigation either. I just use my TomTom I got last year on Black Friday for $59. I can't believe Ford charges $700 for the SD nav card when you can get devices so cheap nowadays. And Ford has the nerve to charge $199 for map updates.
+Quadrillion01 it is $800-$900 now. While it's nice to not have the extra gadgets laying around in the car, it isn't worth that much money. And the iPhone does a brilliant job. I'm just gonna need to get a holder that clips onto the iPhone that goes on the dash so I can see it. It's the 6+ so the screen is comparable size to the TomTom and the dealer even said himself the navigation is a lot better than SYNC.
I have used TomToms in the past. Those are really nice too.
I just ordered a 2016 Ford Explorer xlt and I want to know if the new sync 3 is going to be installed in the truck.

+AutoVlog I've been calling dealerships in my area and all of them told me that it is going to be installed in the Ford Explorers. Even the dealership I bought the truck at.

+AutoVlog yes I did test drive one and there great trucks. But like I said they ( meaning other dealerships) told me that by ordering the truck, the sync 3 will be installed in the truck.

Can you still add a background wallpaper? I think the color scheme would be too bright at night and the look is somewhat cheesy. While the faster touch response is awesome, I like the look of the existing My Ford Touch.

+stillme4you That's too bad; I really like the ability to add backgrounds. Hopefully by the time I am ready for a new Ford, they'll have *fixed* this. Right now I have Darth Vader as my background in my 2015 F150.

Also i know for 2017 that Fusion will get the new Sync 3 system too.
The Ford Explorer is one of the highest selling vehicles in their class and they don't offer it. I might opt out of buying new this year if that's the case.

+AutoVlog Yes but the 2017 model is pretty darn ugly. I like the 2016 body style, not a fan of the 2017 model. I would rather go with the 2016 Chevy Traverse which already uses a better system than the 2017 Explorer.
Oh...so this replaces My Ford touch...okay. Boy did I skip 55% of the features on my vehicle delivery. Lol. It would take :50 to 1hr to show the customer EVERY Sync 3 category...in detail!Time I or my manager will not allocate. Customer will just have to play and learn it on their own.Nice new device but it's overkill, I think. ~ New to Sync 3
why did they not release it on all 2016 models.Makes no sense.
DevPack All 2016 models are not out yet and the Escape and Fiesta are just the first ones to get it.. who knows why they choose to do certain things in certain orders..? Probably has to do with production timing of the specific models along with the production timing of Sync 3..
I do feel that the 2016 Explorer could have gotten it at least.. it hasn't been out for very long.. all the other models will most likely get it next year.. seeing how it took the 2015 model year of the Expedition to even get My Ford Touch when the Edge has had it since 2011 makes no sense either.. ?

SYNC3 is definitely a step in the right direction. BUT the fact that they are leaving all the SYNC2 user behind with not update path to SYNC3 leaves me a little cold. SYNC2 may be more stable now and leaps and bounds better than when it debut, but it still only offers about 50% of the functionality originally promised. All 2015 models and some 2016 models will come with SYNC2 with no possibility to upgrade to SYNC3. If I spent alost 50k on a 2016 Explorer platinum, I would be kinda pissed..
Such is life. This is all new hardware, so a simple software update is not possible... :( If you wanna feel worse, I just bought a 2016 Fiesta ST, it has the Sony powered Sync 3 stuff, and I found out next year they are ditching Sony and going to B&O Play - Bang & Olufsen's "budget" brand - which should still sound waaaay better than the Sony junk. (and trust me it is junk)

Not impressed with Sync 3 vs Sync 2. The latter is now stable/reliable and its color-coded, quadrant metaphor shows more info. I use it daily in my '11 MKX so I know. Sync 3 looks designed by Playskool for 6-yr olds - in truth it's designed with large fonts for old people (poor vision) so that's a waste for the millions with normal vision. The responsiveness element is a red herring. Again, I use Sync 2 daily and it responds just fine. Concerning Sync 3's rollout, it's only coming to two models in the Fall of 2015. The rest of the Ford line gets it in the 2017 model year, late 2016! Of course, that's a marketing nightmare so watch for Ford to stay silent about this cross-year rollout. Finally, Sync 3 will need lots of support/updates early on like Sync 2 did, so set your initial expectations to "frustrated." My recommendation: buy a Ford/Lincoln with Sync 2 and enjoy its stability, utility, and lack of further need for updates.
+Gerry Minetos Sync 3 first came out in the 2016 Escape and Fiesta, the 2016 Expedition has it now as well. The 2016 Mustang will be getting it THIS fall as well so you are incorrect regarding what models have them and when they will be coming out. The MFT system is a great system and I would agree that it maybe looks slightly better but it cannot compare to Sync 3 when it comes down to user friendliness. (Take it from someone who knows both of them)
Simplicity is never bad when it comes to technology (in my opinion) It never once struck me that Sync 3 would be pro "old people"
+Auto Vlog My comment for availability was based on recent press reports. However, I do see that 2016 Expeditions in my region do have Sync 3 in them, so that's a [favorable] disconnect. I would still take issue with user friendliness. From the demos I've seen, including this one, there are instances where Sync 3's design is not better. For instance, when "direct tuning" the FM radio, in MFT (Sync 2) only the presets are overlaid with direct tune numbers. But with Sync 3, the entire radio screen is replaced with direct tune numbers. That's horrible and it further supports the contention that this is designed for those with poor vision.Also MFT has fun animations like when selecting ambient lighting, and that's totally lost in Sync 3 which has a flat, boring, and lifeless design. Yes, it's the future of tech with Ford and MFT won't be further improved and that's a drawback for MFT but Sync 3 is not the hands-down improvement that so many gush about without critical evaluation.
