I’m interested to see this one, just to see how close it and the 45/70 compare. Thanks for all the great pew pew videos, a good shooter, fine hunter, good friend, good entertainer, and a great dad. All good stuff in my book. God bless ya WTW FAMILY AND FANS. 👍🇺🇸
@@WHOTEEWHO do we get to see the 45/70 In This series. It’s a neat series that I’m really enjoying and learning from. Good shooting to the WTW HUNTING CREW. 👍🇺🇸🎥==🥇🥇🥇
@@WHOTEEWHO thank you bud, finely got me a judge other day. But mine don’t shoot the 454 ca. Still glad to get it the same. Thanks again for the great videos 👍🇺🇸🙏🏻
I underestimated the 450 until I put it up against the 458 and 50 beowulf. I was surprised by the 450's performance. Thanks for this video it was very helpful for me.
I have that same shootin' stick! Love it. The .450BM is a beast of a cartridge, too...consistently "bang-flop" results. Also, the 450BM is inherently very accurate in bolt actions and amazingly accurate in semi-auto platforms. Wide variety of loads available for it now, also...lots of choices.
I just shot a decent sized buck up in Wisconsin this past weekend with everything you used here. The buck was about 75 yards out and it went clean through. Hit a lung on him and he still ran 200 yards before dropping. I also took a medium doe. The caliber is perfect for large game, it definitely puts a thump on the target. This is a much better round than using shotgun slugs. Glad we are stepping away from shells and moving back to proper game cartridges.
Great video, thanks for making it. I also have a similar set-up. I got the Ruger Scout in 450BM along with a SilencerCo Hybrid 46 suppressor. Running Hornady 450BM subsonics at 395gr. It's a fantastic setup for a big game silly quite rifle. I'm in GA, so straight walled cartridge's are not a factor, but I chose the 450 as a flatter, more appropriately sized round to the 45/70 and also quieter suppressed. I have several 45/70 lever actions with one suppressed but the 450BM is my go-to and is the one that I would highly recommend if looking to suppress a big game rifle. Anyone with one of these Rugers that have the treaded muzzle brake, should look into suppressing it (if legal in your state) with a 450bm rated suppressor such as the SilencerCo Hybrid 46. It is silly quiet. The fact that Hornady makes an off the shelf subsonic round for the 450BM was one of my biggest determining factors in getting the 450BM rig. They made if for reason as it is the bested suppressed big game cartridge in my opinion, and I'm glad we have their support.
Maximum point blank range for that cartridge, on a 6" target, is exactly 200 yards. Zero 3" high at 100yds. Aim dead on out to 200 w/o worrying about any holdover.
@@jaylancaster5419 yes that's true, doesn't matter what caliber I'm hunting with I line all my rifles by what the box recommends..out of all calibers I have my 450 is my go to gun..👍👍
Love the 450 BM. I built a 16" AR, and I also have one of the camo Ruger American rifles with the longer 22" barrel. When mentioning the straight wall cartridges, you forgot my favorite though.... the .444 Marlin. Love that round in my Lever Gun.
Excellent video! I've been looking at the Henry single shot In both 350 legend and 450 bushmaster. U Your drop series has helped a lot. Ron Spomer had a good one today with the 25-06. Have a great night to the WTW family!
My best bro uses 350 legend. It's got way less recoil than the 450, less drop, but half the time there's no exit wound. Even without an exit he has never had it fail to be lethal, just not as good of a blood trail as the 450.
Love .450 Bushmaster! I own 3 platforms in the caliber. That's how much I like it. Taken several whitetail, 'no tracking neccessary'. Great for the woods of Mississippi. Ruger makes a pretty decent stick shifter.
Please do a 30-30 win. Down here in Georgia we swear bout our 30-30s. Everyone says they are a good brush gun. But I've always wondered what it would do hunting a power line?
Wouldn’t expect anything different from a 250grain bullet in a strait wall cartridge that small. Still a ton of power out to 300. But I’d say 200 it is a safe accurate enough round. Maybe if you load and make that magic recipe you can get more out of it. But still a thumper of a round
Just sighted in my 450 today. I have the same American you have but with a red dot scope for closer interactions. Got it on point today with 10 rounds up to 100 yards. Hunting a heavy wooded area so the max ill shoot is around 25-75 yards. Great info on a cartridge I have little experience with. Thanks man
I am a fan and it’s my deer rifle here in Southeast Michigan. FYI 45-70, although a straight walled cartridge, is not allowed in Southeast Michigan for deer. It exceeds the case length allowed.
Most 450 bushmasters will out shoot 90 percent of the 45-70 leveler guns to bad to talk about, I was so surprised...never seen a 45-70 lever gun cut bullet holes But I have seen 450's cut bullet holes 😮
Not much drop in 15 feet is my guess. 450 out of a 9" AR is my home/vehicle defense round. It seems like a round that can persuade someone that they should probably go somewhere else. *IF* they make it out.
Been waiting for this one, what's your opinion on the difference between HDY custom and HDY black. I've researched and some say nothing, some say ones better but they cost the same so I don't get it. I have some of each so I pulled the bullets and the powder looked the same, looks like H110, one weighed 3.8 grns more than the other. I just got mine re-sighted in with new rings a couple days ago. Was gonna Chrono both to see any difference. When I get these shot up I'll be reloading, I just bought to get the brass and it wasn't cheap, reloading is my hobby, and working up loads. Good video as always.
Sighted in a CVA scout in 450 this evening with Hornady Black and it was a bit of a struggle. Going to check all my scope torques and try it again with some Barnes next trip to the range
I just came home from the gun store with a brand new rifle. While I was setting up the rifle decided to watch your newest video.... I had to laugh because I also bought a green Ruger American.
I never could figure out using a ballistic chart how high I should sight it at 100 yards to get it close to center at 200 yards. The range we use doesn't go beyond 110. And I"m not allowed to sight in on the property we hunt on. (it's his land his rules). Any tips ?
Thanks for another good vid! I have the same results with my Mossberg Patriot .450 shooting Hornady Customs 250 gr. at 50yd and 100 yds.... HOWEVER, shooting the Hornady Subsonics at 395 gr. they are shooting high at both 50yd and 100 yds (???). Would be curious to know if you or others have experience with those Subsonic rounds.
Maximum point blank range is 205 yards on a 6" vital zone which works out to 1.16" high at 50 yards, 2.68" high at 100, zero at 175, 2.45" low at 200. Seems like a better way to zero to me but maybe Tee never shoots much past 100 yards where he hunts so a 100 yard zero is best for him. I really like all of Tee's videos.
Hi cobba, hope all is well over there....have you reloaded or know of what would be the most accurate of hand loads to 150 mtrs around between 200 to 250 grain....?
