Ruger uses a jam nut on the brake. Lock the brake in a vise or with a bar through the brake and tighten the jam nut to the barrel slightly. Then the brake unscrews "fairly" easy. I replaced mine with a NLX-11 brake that I can take on and off with my hand.
I love the 450 BM. It’s a thumper for sure. I almost sold my .308 American, but I bought a Magpul Hunter stock instead to make it better and I’ll keep it
I’m a very big fan of Hornady Black .450 BM with a 250 gr FTX out of my AR hunting build. Very accurate and consistent in my set up. I took a big doe with it this year and she ran 20 yards and tipped. No tracking needed. 👍🏽
I know this is an old comment but I like the black ammo also for my 450 bm I shot a big body spike and dropped it. Then I shot a big 7 pointer and he ran about 120 yards once I gutted him I noticed I only hit on lung. The spike was a double lung and the bullet exited. Sorry for the long reply I just got started hunting and have no one to talk about it with lol!!

Just been waiting on that right buck. Double lunged him. Ran 80 yards and wadded up just in the tree line.
My FFL has a beautiful 450 Bushmaster single shot made by Henry. If I didn’t own a 45/70 I would be putting it on layaway. At just over 300 beans it’s a good price for this big ole boo lot slinger. Wow, you sure did a job on the finish trying to get the muzzle break off. I think you might have made life a little easier if you had used a heat gun first. Otherwise I really like the groups , the 450 just looks like a fun bing bang to fling with.

You ought to keep some strips of old inner tube next to your vice to keep from scaring things up that you don’t want scarred up. A couple of layers of rubber wrapped around your barrel would prevent that jaw rash.
Hey, You are not the only shooter I see this grouping phenomenon of two shots eating each other and one just not wanting to hang out with the rest. I'm wondering have you ever tried skipping the #3 bullit from the in order pick from the cartridge holder in the box and go to the fourth bullit waiting in line to be picked? It has to be a machinery loading glitch.. maybe? Someone has to test it. Crazy but idno.. Keep on keepin on,T

Wouldn't mind having that setup but I'd bed the action and lap the bolt just to get as much accurate as I can and with that silencer I don't think other people would hear you shooting on public land which people or bad to try to cut you off here is why I've run a 300 wsm and shoulder shoot deer here but as I'm getting older I don't like recoil as much as I used to

I’ve always got great accuracy from Hornady, and and Remington Ammo, when I compared Hornady against Federal Accubond, the Hornady American Whitetail shot much more accurate out of my old AR10

Have adapters for my 17hmr and 22lr (liiiiiitle worried about a baffle strike?) which SC says is good to go on. Anyone think 17hmr is underpowered for raccoons? Haven't really taken a shot at em yet but they are really putting a hair across my rear.

Next time you need to remove a fastener that has had loctite applied pour boiling water over it or heat up gently with a heat gun. That will help break down the loctite

A little heat on that break will go a long ways on removing the break easily. Sounds pretty good with the can.

I shoot almost the same setup my can is a hybrid 46 thought i use the hornady subs and love it they put a thumping on deer.

Subs always hit better groups, with the obvious sacrifice in power. Still gets it done.

A 30 caliber may or may not expand, but a 45 never shrinks :)

It was probably rockset not loctite. Put it in boiling water for several minutes and it will come off.
