    I bought the .350 for my son for this year it’s a break over to so he can hunt primitive out here in Louisiana and he killed a doe and I killed a doe already with it and I fell in love…super confident in this one plus with its size and weight it’s not bad at all toting it around in the woods compared to my .35 whelen which I also love but I highly recommend this gun for anybody from kids women but also myself to use for huntin and not have to worry about it

    These are both great options it just drives me crazy that in my home state Michigan, the 450 is allowed, but 30-30 is not. I get that the essence of the strait wall rule is to not allow long range cartridges like 30-06, .308, 6.5 etc because of their long potential range and the population density. However 30-30 fits performance wise directly in like with something like the 350 but is banned because it has a neck. They really need to make some specific cartridge's allowed, especially something like the 30-30 consider what a popular round it is/was.

    I use .45-70, but also have a bushmaster that I like. The guide gun is my goto, because it's lighter than my AR for carrying and that .45-70 has taken 14 straight deer with no more than 30 yards of tracking. It's just a great round. The bushmaster would be my choice if I were in a blind and able to get comfortable like your set-up. I just sit on a stool next to a tree typically and have for 35 years. lol 8)

    Excellent to the point video comparing the two cartridges .350 Legend and .450 Bushmaster. Your evaluation on distance was close as for sighting in and shooting distance. I did agree with angle of entry. I also noted all the deer you shot ran off. Since very young, I am in my 78th year, I have not had a deer run anywhere with every one being a high shoulder impact or spine ( if deer moved) .
    Having tested all action types 145 thru 220 sub sonic. I found the Hornady 165 and 170 shot sub MOA in HENRY SS and RUGER AMERICAN WITH 20” stainless Predator. The Winchester 145 and 180 whitetail shot just above 1” MOA. The RUGER SPR AND BEAR CREEK AR SHOT 1-1/2 MOA.
    I have also shot the .450 with similar accuracy, however the recoil is considerably greater ( like 12 gage with slugs in my experience) In Michigan, these cartridges have really become popular. The .350 Legend has replaced the 30-30 and .243 with many beginning shooter and women coming into the hunting scene. Appreciate your recent posting as the late season is ahead. 🦅

    I shoot 180gr 350L, 117yds away; barely nipped heart but double lung. The buck ran about 45-50 yds and crashed. Great blood trail. In conclusion, 150yds is do-able, but 200yds, i guess i'm not that confident with this cartridge yet.

    cant speak of 350l yet.. but the 450b is a BEAST on deer. hit one in the spine once and it blew a fist sized hole in its back. it was devastating. 350l wasnt going to do that kind of damage. 450b is better short range brush gun... and i would go with a 350l if a lil more distance is needed. dont forget the 6.5grendel either... thats the lil tank engine that could! totally bad arse lil round for deer and fun to shoot in a ar15... deadly accurate and no recoil so for recoil sensitive folks its perfect.

    Love my 350 legend with a 20" barrel in an AR platform. Just started a 450 bushmaster with a 16" barrel so I'm interested in seeing what one I like better. I will be using both for black bear. We have no rifle season for deer in my state we can only use a shotgun unfortunately.

    Have a mossberg patriot 350 legend interchangeable youth/adult stock with a leupold caliber matched dial reticle scope. Multiple people have layed down probly 30 deer or better all between 100 and 250 yards no problem. My 7 yr old son shot his first buck this year with it at 117 yds dropped in place. He had the option of a 410 or the 350 and he chose the 350 because it kicks way less.

    Great video, nice content here .
    I just picked up the Ruger American .450 BM . Dunhams had a flash sale , plus they sent me another coupon in my email for the rifle that came with a Vortex Copperhead 4-12 x 44 scope for $599 . I thought it was a good deal .
    I took it out to the range two days ago and it printed a cloverleaf three round group at 100 yards with Hornady 250 grain FTX 🎯 ☘️ I was ecstatic with the accuracy of the factory production rifle and ammo right out of the box . From bore sight I only had to make slight adjustments to get it tuned to its zero .
    However, even with its proprietary muzzle break and rubber recoil pad , it kicks like my .30-06 sporter model with a stout 180 grain load ! Yeah , the recoil is stout but it’s manageable. It’s a lightweight package, nice for carrying in the field , and when hunting, you’re only going make that one shot so it’s not like beating your shoulder up at the range .
    I hunt here in Northern Michigan where you can actually use bottle neck high powered rifles , however, in certain places thatI hunt ( like the cedar swamps and popal slashing curtains that border the swamps ) this is a great choice for busting big bucks traveling these corridors between bedding grounds and feeding fields as they’re usually moving fast and need to be put down quickly so they don’t run off and die on neighboring private tracts of land . And THAT is why I choose the .450 BM over the .350 Legend .

    If you reload the 225 grain bullet, it is the sweet spot for the 450 Bushmaster a little less weight but more speed and muzzle energy. @ 2495 fps, 3110 lbs of muzzle energy. I got this data from Hodgdon online and Ballistic 101.

      I agree with you. Everyone seems to think it's weak and only for women and kid's. I have high power rifles and can take recoil with no problem but the 350 is light and so fun to shoot. Plus 2 counties that I hunt only allow straight walled cartridges so I chose the 350. It's also very quiet compared to the 450.

      I don’t have either but I have also never seen a ballistics chart comparing the 2 cartridges saying that 450BM shoots flatter and further. It hits harder but drops a lot faster and wind drift also favors 350L at distance. Not sure where he came up with that.

    150 yards and under for the 350? A guy I know killed 2 doe one at 249 yards and the other at 266 yards with the 350 legend on ar platform. I've killed 2 deer with mine so far. One went 30 yards the other dropped in it's tracks. I've seen deer hit in the shoulder with 385 grain 12 ga slugs and never found. Shot placement is everything no matter what your using.

    I want to thank the ODNR for trusting sportsmen enough to finally allow us to hunt with straight wall cartridges! We have both calibers in our deer camp. Both are great choices, work well on deer, and provide great accuracy. We hunt the true hill country so our shots are never over 75-80 yards so I cant speak about long range shooting. I dont care for mossberg but the patriot has a trigger thats better than guns costing 4 times as much. The only real advantage that I am aware goes to the .350 because factory ammo is ALOT cheaper than factory .450 ammo.

  • @cruzingpapa

    What ammo in .450 Bushmaster pushes a 240gn to 300gn bullet at 2500 to 2600 fps? All I can find are around 1900fps to 2200fps. I found one from Underwood that is rated at 2385fps but that is with a 220gn bullet. I think the .444 Marlin is a much better straight walled cartridge if you can find a rifle chambered in it. Hopefully soon there will be soon.

    Thank GOD they now allow us to use other calibers besides shotgun or muzzle loader. Did not shoot 350 Legend yet. Seems like 350 Legend is same class as old 30-30 or 35 Rem. Then 450 BM seems like that is more of the same class as the old 30-06 or 308 Win or 270 Win calibers. But always knew 450 BM was originally designed for military like 308 Win and 30-06. Wonder what new deer caliber they will come out next for states like Ohio, Michigan etc....

    • @boostimalaka1
      @boostimalaka1 Год назад

      The .270, .308 and 30-06 are definitely in another class. The .450 BM is intended for under 150 yards like the .350 Legend to be legal in restricted states that allow straight wall cartridges.

    • @airbornesoldieramerica7125
      @airbornesoldieramerica7125 Год назад

      @@boostimalaka1 Do understand they are actually totally different, 30-06,308,270 etc...has a reach of 500 to 1,000 yards if not more. Which the 450bm and 350 Legend does not. But heard or read 450 BM that can get up to like 300 or maybe 400 accurate yard shots. 350 Legend admit don't know much about.
      But read the 450 BM our Military came out with that caliber, they wanted something under 45-70 and more powerful then a 44 magnum so it can hit inside a motor block and they can stop cars or trucks trying to get into a military bases in highly populated areas, cause calibers like the 50 BMG they been using since WW2 will travel way to far, and don't want bullets to travel outside of the military base. Then someone discovered real fast 450 BM its a great deer etc...caliber.
