      Look and see what game has been taken with the .357 bulldog air gun , unmodified. Out of the box it makes around 176fpe max. Of course your shots have to be taken at reasonable distances, but one on the ground , is one on the ground with a good shot placement.

    It's a great short range hunting cartridge. Outstanding out to 100 yards. Pretty good out to 150 yards. It goes down hill fast after that. Most hunters in the eastern half of the US will normally shoot less than 150 yards though. I would compare the 350 Legend to a 30-30. Many deer have been killed with a 30-30. If you need to shoot past 150 yards, you should probably go with a cartridge that has more powder capacity. This is a fun little carbine type cartridge with low recoil. It'll work in a single shot, bolt action, or AR-15.

    I'm sold on that bullet that you were using in this video. It worked for me very well this [almost] past deer season here in Southeastern Michigan, in the restricted firearm [formerly shotgun] zone. 200 yards is the absolute max that I will attempt to take a deer with, with the 350 Legend. I would say that trying to go past that would border on being irresponsible sportsmanship, just my opinion of course. For where I hunt the 350 is perfect; far preferable over a shotgun slug or the hassle of dealing with a muzzleloader. I know many would disagree with me. That's fine. It is great to have options for all of our different preferences. Thanks for the video. I enjoy your material very much. Keep up the great work. God bless.

      I use an 18 1/2 in barreled .350 Legend for white tails (due to state regulations on hunting cartridges) and with this Winchester 180 grain load, I have consistently flatlined white tails on the spot, every where between 15 and 100 yards, with no need for adjusting where I aim at these ranges. Zeroed at 100 yards, I get the same shot groups at the range as shown in this video, between 50 and 100 yards, with 3 shots averaging an inch group at 100 yards.
      I have found this set up fairly accurate and lethal out to 160 yards, on white tail, having to hold about 6 inches over at this range, tho I've only had the occasion to make a shot this far twice since hunting with the .350 Legend (technically one shot at 150 yrd and one at 160 yrd, both equally lethal)
      With my short barrel length of 18 1/2 inches I'm not sure what kind of accuracy I'd have @200 yards, compared to this video, but now I have an idea and am going to have to find a 200 yrd range to try it out at.

      I agree, the Winchester 180 gr shoots consistently in my 18" AR upper. I find similar results to others, very flat shooting between 50yd and 100 yd. I absolutely fell in love with my 350 Legend right after the first shot!
    The mild recoil is definitely a selling point for those of us that do not have straight wall restrictions.
    Living and hunting all my life in Pennsylvania.. most the deer are shot within 75 yards.
    The 350 will knock the snot out of the biggest buck in the woods inside 100 yards. This past season I downed a big bodied pennsylvania eight point and my brother's nephew downed a huge 10 point with his.
    We both were using Federal 180 grains. Complete pass through double lung shot. A blind person could follow the blood trail.. but unnecessary due to both deer falling within thirty yards of the shots.
    Thanks for sharing this brother 😊

    Good video. My Mossberg Patriot will group just about any 350 ammo under 1.5 MOA , with the exception of the 145 FMJs. Heavier bullets seem to group better though. I can get sub MOA all day with the 180's. It's interesting to see the drop from 100 to 200, but I don't think I'd be reaching for the 350 if I was pretty sure I'd be presented with shots on deer over much 100yrds. I snagged one because the rifle/scope package was $219 on a black Friday deal, and I can use it in Michigan's "limited rifle zone". If it wasn't for the fact I do most of my dear hunting in this zone, I doubt I'd own one. An AR build in 350 Legend would be kind of cool though.

    Common sense says 200 yards should be the maximum range, same with the 30-30, of course the 35Rem, 358 Winchester, are better at retaining killing energy at longer ranges.
    I still feel that the 350 Legend has a place in the field, young and old, for those who can’t take the recoil, for many, many years, my wife’s go to big game critter getter was a Marlin, 444, she shot the 444 very well, killed several deer, but she’s not young anymore, and she’s getting shoulder issues.
    This summer I bought her a 350 Legend upper, she loves it, almost no recoil, and no more complaints about a sore shoulder, I haven’t started to Handload yet, it’s coming!

    This is my favorite hog & deer gun by far (from TX). All the shots are within 150 yds, .35 caliber slams ‘em down, light to carry (ar15 platform vs ar10), and recoil is same as a 223/556. Love it.

      @@merlinnorris817 I have no doubt that it is useful. But I am trying to keep my rifles and guns to less than 6 calibers. Just because one caliber performs 1.5% better than another is not a selling point for me. I am being pragmatic and limiting my ammo selection to a minimum and to calibers that will get the job done. Nothing fancy.

    I looked up 350 Legend and.. straight walled case is very similar to .357 from a Marlin or M1 Carbine. I checked .357 from Marlin performance (shot metal target matches to 200 yards) 357 gets 1900 fps on a 158 grain bullet with 14.9 grains of H110 or W296 You can get faster speeds with a 125 grain bullet 357 but it will not knock down a metal target at 200 yards ( I think WHO TEE WHO has some video tests of 357 on concrete blocks .. back a year or so ago)

    That’s amazing. A 37’ drop at 700yds. With a 100yd zero, you should only have to hold about 2” over the back of a deer to hit the kill zone. I wouldn’t push it no farther than 200yds due to the loss of energy.

I can do the math and read the boxes, but I love the gun's. That Howa is gorgeous! I really want to do handgun hunting, I did it once in Pennsylvania and got myself a very nice Doe. I also want to hunt with my Henry's or when Marlin comes back, I'm sure Ruger will bring them back to their glory day's. About a week ago I heard the CEO of Ruger say they are looking at a release date around the end of December. You have gotten me into other rifle's instead of a lever action. Have a great night! I'm thinking 1-1/2" high at 100yrds would be a perfect zero for the 350, should cover 25 yards to 150 yards. Just my opinion. I don't ever need no more than 100, so that's where I zero mine.

    So just for a comparison, what’s the drop on a .223/5.56 between 100 and 200 yards?
    And your skills are far beyond my comprehension. If the round is dropping 444 inches how do you compensate for that?
    The furthest I shot with an acog (4x32) was 500 yards but that was a relatively easy process. I just can’t imagine 5.56 dropping hundreds of inches like that.

  • @mfallen6894
    @mfallen6894 2 года назад

    This cartridge is just begging to be chambered in a lever gun. Win '94 or Marlin 336 action with this intermediate power level to the pistol calibers and big boys like the 45-70, ballistics similar to a 30-30win but cheaper to shoot. 35 cal just like the 35 rem, but you don't have to reload to be able to shoot it. Make it happen Ruger/Rossi/Henry/Winchester!

    It is designed to drop quickly, that’s why it’s allowed in those previously shotgun states. I come from Ohio, and have killed most deer with a 12 gauge slug. They won’t allow long range caliber, because of population density. IMO

  • @MrSkinnyn71
    @MrSkinnyn71 2 года назад

    I know with the many variables aside. I am only able to zero at 50 yards currently. Shooting 165gr ,16” barrel what would be your opinion theoretically 100yd,150yd would be with that 50yrd? zero.

  • @brettbuckmaster5128
    @brettbuckmaster5128 3 месяца назад

    Curious if it would just be easier to zero it to what the box suggests. Sure if you zero at 150 you will be high at 50 yards but in regard to the lethal zone of a deer 2” will still kill.
    I’ve been wanting to try this with my 12 ga as well. Zero at 150 and have a one size fits all.
    I’m curious to see if you tried to zero as the box suggests what results you would get.

    If you are going to compare 350 legend to 30.06 then it looses. Compare it to 30-30 (the cartridge that took more whitetail deer than any other) it's almost equal out to 200 yards... at 1/4 the cost per round.
