    long time viewer here.
i think one of the main reasons yba feels so different today than it does back then is simply because of how much larger it's become.
it used have very simple graphics, easy to grasp mechanics, and a very nice feeling combat system.
these days, that's all gone now.
not to mention that with how convoluted and overpowered things are these days, it's even more of a hell for new players than it was prior.
in all honesty, the game is still enjoyed by tens of thousands of people daily.
but it's just that for myself, and many others, we aren't those people.
and we aren't going to be.
regardless, i hope uzu and the team still does well, as i can't deny the game is stunning visually and all.
i just hope sometime that same spark it had before can be reignited.
keep up the good work, big man.

Yeah the simplicity aswell as the feeling of playing such a good Jojo game back then is the main reason why it feels so different I'm also an old fan of his since his first twoh video and been playing since January 2020

i think another reason is how complicated the game is now, like a spec has the same amount of moves as a stand meaning u have to spend ages memorising every key on your keyboard just to be able to play 1v1's against sweaty players. at this rate specs are more so secondary stands having a barrage and all

i miss old yba, you may not see this, but i am incredibly greatful for everything you've done for YBA, i used to love the game, and you sometimes talking about how the game isn't as toxic as it seems really helped me as that was something i struggled with most, i'm glad that someone who's a good person like you got to the position you did instead of one of the toxic players, i can't possibly describe or thank you enough

Thanks for being my favorite youtuber since 2021, Eclipse. I met you through YBA, stayed for you. I like to see this video as a letter to YBA and it's community as a whole, seeing the good, the bad and the ugly from 3 years of YBA. i started playing yba around 6 months after you did. my join date says it was in November, but i got the prestige 1 badge on October 5th, 2020. this video really resonated with me, especially the latter half of it. i do miss the days of the best combat out of any roblox anime game, the days of eclipse playing telephone with the devs or tuning into tournament livestreams. some of the moments from the last little bit of the video, i watched those videos as soon as they came out, and i remember laughing at whatever silly incident happened in the clip. even though new yba has so many pros to old yba, old yba still will be yba's prime. not just for gameplay, balance, effects, but also the memories and the state of the game and whatnot. i also remember the week of the heaven update which added made in heaven and twoh, the game had 100k players. it's so hard to believe that the game had over 100k players for a solid while. but, oh well. good video, i think you really conveyed your thoughts well. cheers, eclipse.

Nothing nostalgically hits harder than remembering hopping on yba after school and fighting the entire server with my friends. We used to literally discuss plans on how to counter the meta stands and where in the map we could run to for cover. I used to run sf Hamon for fun and actually got decent with it. Despite there actually being better/worse stands, you could play every stand and do okay if you know what you’re doing with that stand’s playstyle. They took that uniqueness and replay ability out by just making every spec have a combo. There’s no more character to it, it’s just another good looking jojo game with combos. It’s really sad something so special and well built upon was just replaced by what made it stick out.

ive literally been here ever since yba released, I remember getting star platinum on my first arrow lol. fr tho coming from a guy who played YBA since release and a fan of yours since you had around 200 subscribers, its a shame how much the game has changed, its like a whole new game now and it no longer had its charm that it once had before. i remember dominating main game with twoh and killing people in sbr with my friends having a blast but now it just wont feel the same knowing about the newer PVP of one shotting everyone. and if you're not playing the game for that its just a grindfest for skins that wont do you any good in the long run. yba has changed, and in my opinion, for the worse. I quit YBA around 2 months before the Stone Free update, then came back to it on April of this year, and I feel like I'm a literal noob when I was clearly not. every stand that releases nowadays is always so broken and then pairing that with a spec increases the craziness by ten fold. effects cover up your whole screen, still no new gamemodes, and more. back then, yba had a terrible balancing, but it had a charm to it that many of you guys can probably agree with me on. the PVP was stupid but in a good way. i miss being one comboed by a twoh or sptw. i miss ger yoinking all my health because of scorpion and barrage. i miss the infinite speed on mih... (actually idk about that one) anyways, on a real note I truly miss yba. clearly its now out of its golden age and onto its modern era. but ill forever miss the good old days... arigato, yba.

YBA... has changed. It's no longer about balanced movesets, free flow combat, or having fun. It's an endless series of gang wars fought by sweats and one-shot combo users. YBA - and it's production of skins - has become a well-oiled machine. YBA has changed. ID-tagged players carry ID-tagged stands, use ID-tagged specs. Hamon infusion inside their bodies enhances and regulates their damage output. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control. YBA has changed. The age of Balance has become the age of Skins... All in the name of averting catastrophe from revenue drops. And he who controls the skins... Controls the players. YBA has changed. When the players are under total control... Unbalanced reworks become routine.

All goods things must come to an end. Well, it would be more accurate to say that nostalgia for the old, broken mess rather than for the new broken mess is inevitable.
Eclipse, I discovered you through your GER is broken videos (the first one) and never missed an upload for YBA since that day. For me, the reason why I kept watching your videos was because you were genuinely helpful when it came to being good at the fighting aspect of the game. I as a stupid kid wouldn't have figured out all the kinds of jank you can do with stuff like King Crimson, Hierophant Green and GER back in the day. Even now with your new vampire and S&W videos you showcased some combos that many people didn't even know you could DO (at least me). You're very informative whether you realize it or not.
I don't play YBA anymore, and you can probably guess the reasons. But I still watch your YBA content because its YOU that presents it. I can understand why you would quit too, and if you will eventually stop uploading YBA because of what it has become, most of us will understand. Adapting to all the BS this game throws at us is annoying as hell, but if you decide to keep at it, rest assured. We will all support you. Back then, throwing out Zoom Punch/Eye Gouge wildly was just gonna get your ass folded and lose half your hp with how small and commital they were. But landing them felt like you actually EARNED to land them. Eye Gouge was THE exemple of that : the longest spec stun in the game, but also the longest spec endlag and an extremely shitty hitbox. Landing it allowed you to confirm anything your stand have, with the only exception being lifeforms creation of GE/R and Road Roller, but missing it/having it cancelled meant your opponent could do that to you too and more. It was also extremely simple to keep track of cooldowns since every spec but Pluck had 3 moves at most.

I also started playing almost three years ago, and I agree with most of what you said. However, I feel like skins themselves aren't really that detrimental to the game on paper, but in reality, people have gotten WAYYY too addicted to them. It's to the point that a majority of people don't even want to improve on their combat skills. It was way easier to find a competent opponent to play a fun 1v1 back then but nowadays hardly anyone is remotely decent at the game. I've already quit YBA for a few months, but some of my friends still play it and they can back me up on my claims.
Another thing I don't agree about is the map change. Sure, I think that the map was a lot better than the old one. The main issue is though, it is a LOT laggier than the old one. For comparison, with the fps unlocker, I could manage to get 120+ fps on the old map in a vip server. Nowadays, I can barely manage 40. This may not be as big of a problem on other platforms, but we're talking about Roblox here. Most of the people playing aren't very old and are usually playing on low end laptops and phones or tablets. I know that the developers have put efforts into making it not such a laggy mess, but it just isn't enough.
I agree with everything else though, and it's sad to see that the only aspects that made YBA stand above other games (mainly the combat) have just been ruined with 50% hp combos. It was rare to see a skin back then, and now it's become the norm. How good the balancing is right now is still quite similar to what it was back then (horrible of course), but I would argue it still feels worse right now. The combat used to be void of massive combos, which is what made it stand out in the first place, but now the new reworks are just riddled with huge true combos. I feel like it's just sad to see the original main attraction of the game being completely destroyed.

The time I started playing YBA (keep in mind I've stopped playing now) was I believe nearly right next to initial release. I wasn't the FIRST to play it in any regard, but I do remember being there before SBR, Requiems, or Prestiges were even added. Rokakakas actually used to reset your level and you'd need to find a pure rokakaka which only reset your stand if you wanted to keep it. I watched YBA turn from a cool passion project that was original and enjoyable despite it's lackluster (at least, compared to the modern day) stands because, well, it was a passion project based on one of my favorite things to a corporate hellhole where all Uzu and the dev team seem to care about is money. The more popular YBA got, the more greedy the devs became until everything just... sucked. We have a game today that is devoid of all substance; what made it fun is long gone. No more new mechanics, no more new gamemodes, hell, we haven't even gotten a requiem past SPTW and Uzu promised that EVERY stand would have a requiem. I'm not saying old and simple is always good, but I think I'd prefer if all stands dropped their *visual* quality in favor of a backtrack to the fun and nostalgic feeling as well as FINALLY a decent update schedule.
Also, why the hell does the storyline give you a requiem arrow?! What??? I remember working my butt off every single day in SBR and FINALLY after LITERAL DAYS beating SBR ONCE. In the past, SBR used to give you access to the requiem arrow; it was this whole quest thing with a lengthy but really rewarding process. You'd talk to the prestige master at prestige 3 in SBR, he'd give you a quest to simply beat SBR, you do so, and you get the ability to craft a requiem arrow at a different NPC for a hefty sum of money. I PREFERRED THAT SO MUCH. That last SBR game that gave me access to requiem was INSANE. Like seriously! The only requiem that was out was Gold Experience's (which at the time looked AWESOME compared to all the other stands) so I had Gold Experience and I would try for I think a whole MONTH to beat SBR. And that feeling when I got requiem was so amazing, it felt like I was a cut above the rest for all the hellish work I put in, that I actually accomplished something of worth. Aaaaaand of course they decide to make the end of the storyline give you requiem. What once was a super rewarding experience after beating SBR is now replaced with +1 pelvis and no other rewards except maybe money (I got Tusk Act 4 by literally inputting a code...)
So yeah, sorry for ranting but basically what I mean is, YBA has lost all of it's original charm for me. It used to be a fun passion project, and now I can't really find any reason to play it anymore. It's a broken mess of terrible balancing and none of my friends want anything to do with it (hey, I see why). YBA just doesn't even feel like the same game anymore. And yes, drawing in children for hours on end just for them to get a slight remodel of a stand that they apparently really want IS scummy and it always has been. I've really always hated the idea of skins for that reason but obviously I won't rag on others for having them, in the end you're not FORCED to get skins since it's your choice if you want to grind for them. In summary, a lot of aspects may have improved a LOT, but it's never worth losing all of the original charm. I miss and will always miss the old YBA.

There’s a lot of great quality of life and other things but just the game itself has changed so much, YBA used to be the Jojo game people played because it was different, it wasn’t a skin farm sim ability spam game you had chains and bread and butters, now it’s just like any other jojo game idk if you should even engage in m1 combat unless you have one of the new specs that can do everything. The sheer amount of moves as well is so much you have the now 5 spec moves (maybe more I’m not sure) and your stand moves which is so much to even juggle on the keyboard like using vampire with a stand like killer queen is near impossible with how many keybinds you need for all the abilities. The sheer amount of those keybinds is just a symbolism for how much the game has changed it’s just so bloated with all the stands and bugs that have not been prioritized because of the new skins and the new design philosophy as there’s no way they can not be knowing what they’re doing when they make some of these stands and specs. The game has just now been bloated with all the effects and the lack of drive to make the game good and it’s sad to see it become this.

There was a certain charm that the old YBA had that the new version just simply cannot match anymore. I stopped playing YBA about a year ago and still to this day have no interest in returning to it so it's a shame to see such cherished memories with my friends almost fade into obscurity overtime and watch this game almost crumble into dust especially in the balance department. where to start. I started yba a month or so after launch, but didn’t really continue to play and actually grind out to prestige 3 around the heaven update. This was around the time your channel had blown up and i remember watching the kc hamon review and seeing you easily take over yba YT as a whole. Besides having legitimately creative youtube ideas for such a niche genre, you were also pretty steadfast in making content you enjoyed which was again also super rare on YT as well as something as random as a jojo roblox game youtuber. I can’t even imagine how much hours i put into the game and can really empathize with your feelings of passion. Despite the absolute mountain of bs rampant throughout the game just the amount of freshness using a new stand combo from a youtube video or carrying a friend in sbr kept me satisfied. I never really engaged in the community much mostly out of a lack of knowledge on discord activity and what not but when I did I had a lot of fun. I participated in that first tournament (diamondmaster3600/mlgtricks) and placed second, which friends in yba talked abt so much at the time. it was just a really cool experience and in a way your channel has been that timelog every step of the way. As of rn i haven’t really played yba consistently since the halloween update, but i pop into your channel almost all the time just to hear your insight on topics and it reminds me of that golden period of yba.
    cheers

I was first introduced to YBA in the middle of March 2020 by one of my cousin's friends. And then when my cousin joined we immediately loved YBA. Almost every single day my cousin would ask me if I wanted to play YBA and we would have a great time fighting against each other and other players and playing in SBR. When the Stone Free update was released most of my friends left the game. Me and my cousin were the only ones still playing. After a while, my cousin dropped the game. Then it was me. Now I don't even play the game anymore. It's so sad to see a game I used to play all the time become this. Even though I still have frustrating issues with YBA I'm glad that I got to hold on to the memories of when I played with my cousin.

Most of those clips at the end I rewatched a couple months back reminiscing those times I would wake up early just to watch your videos while waiting for my friends to hop on yba, now seeing it again it really shows how good those times were even at a time of the pandemic this was my getaway from those problems in my life in a way, though I joined yba a bit late around mid 2021, I get that and feel that, I would do anything to re-experience those times again..

Thank you for making me happy Eclipse, thank you.

Yba is the game were i met my friend group. I had so much fun with them, the gang wars, the screams in vc while playing sbr. I miss all of that. I quitted after the new map was released and rejoined after the soft and wet update out of nostalgia and i was stunned by how different things had become. Back in the day it was fun to try and beat unbalanced stands but rn it's a pain thx to all of the sheer amount of effects that destroy the framerate. I can say that you are the yba youtuber that i had the most fun watching. The videos always had a friendly vibe and would make me crack up from the laughs. I remember the d4c lt sbr video. The same day that video came out i asked my friends if they wanted to try and do that. At the end of the day what i feel the need to say is ty yba for making me meet the friends who helped me grow as a person and ty eclipse for always showing your love for the game and for its community.

Although we wish we had that game back, we likely will never get it back as long as ambition and greed exists. It’s sad to know that, but that’s become the reality of it.

Maybe it’s because I myself changed, but i don’t really enjoy it like i used to, when i played daily with my friends.
I’m a long-time viewer, dare i say, I came for YBA guides and stayed because i love your sense of humor, so that last part that included footage from your older videos hit hard. I can’t say YBA is worse now, it’s probably better off, but dammi i miss the old times.

I've been watching Eclipse for as long as I can remember. The Old yba days were so messy but the good kind, the new yba players could never understand.
I'm a former yba god, though just a random person you've probably met in the old yba I was equal to or better than many youtubers such as Eclipse who was equal to me. Some youtubers I have beaten include GamerTiny, Gohanhino (former yba player) and much more youtubers and as lucky I was to meet them it was even more fun to play with them and find out what kind of person they are. But as the game changed and I was still behind on the meta I learned it was time to let go and let the other players shine. (Totally not because I got hacked and they erased 50k robux worth of gamepasses so I quit yba for a year then I come back to find out it's way too different for me to catch up on)

The ending hits really hard, i started the game about mid 2021 when it was the mih and twoh update. I vividly remember how a guy helped me with story mode and taught me how to play, I had no idea about pity or skins back then and you cant imagine how happy i was to getting the world on my last arrow, also I was helping my friends with rkers and getting happy to the worst skins there are. I wish I could go back to that time and enjoy yba again, im crying while writing this. Im not an og of your channel but Im still thankful for your great vids, keep up the work. 👍

I've been playing yba for ever since December 2020. I have to agree with nearly every point mentioned. The combat was way more fun back then, specs didn't require you to map a whole new moveset rather like 3 keys max. Another small thing you didn't mention in the combat section was the ability to see players health bars, This small change actually matters a lot. People in 1v1s would sorta heal trade. And nowaday you don't see anyone doing this because of how much the combat change to big op combo does 70% your hp. And now with every update it takes like 3 months to make a single stand that looks amazing but is a pain to fight against and isn't tested. Not sure how to transition this but I love the content hope you keep it up 👍

i think some of my favorite videos to watch of yours were the ones just titled “muda” or “ora” or “fast” where you just, played a stand in 1v1s, talked about it, comment about the fight, and that’s about it. unfortunately, it’s difficult to replicate that format now, since everywhere you go, it’s a Scary Monsters 70% combo, or maybe a TWOH Vamp combo that one-shots you with a single TS (that happened to me once). now i feel that this is less of a game to relax on after a day of school or work or whatever you do, and more of one that requires you to use some ludicrously overpowered stand to even stand a chance against others doing the same, pressing 7-10 buttons on your keyboard and, hey would you look at that, they’re dead on the floor. anyways, i think this is a tipping point for YBA and the devs, it’s at a point for them to decide where they want to take the games combat and mechanics: either returning all the absurd stands to zero (GER go brrrrr), or to continue this path to absolute power creep hell. and i’ll be honest, i miss the stupid hit boxes of certain moves, and i do miss how janky the game was sometimes, but this is, well, too much jank. and if anything, we can only hope that maybe you can do something about it, Eclipse.

Long time viewer ( I was in the king crimsion video bingo) and 2021 February player here
Back then in 2021 ybas combat was MUCH more simpler, didnt have any cool effects, no flashy moves, just regular stand moves with pretty bad effects.
Back then M1 Trades where actually important but now a days combat all matters about landing 1 move then doing 95 percent of your hp
Specs where also pretty boring but also very simple to use, stands where also pretty fun but also the moves where simple
I feel like yba now a days is just based off landing moves and other stuff
I think uzus main goal here was to turn this game into a evolved jojo game
I have mix feelings for this game now and Im proud that uzu decided to change the whole game
Eclipse I do miss your tournament streams
    Build or bust videos
    stand reviews
    stand bingos
    wiping sbr with friends
I really do miss the old times

Man, YBA is quite the game… I’ve been playing since around June 2021, and I used to be pretty good at the game. I’d run almost every stand/spec combo you could think of, but I remember my favorites being Star Platinum boxing, Hierophant Green Hamon and MIH Boxing. I made a lot of memories in this game, and after the white album rework I was having fun with it but got a nasty feeling that YBA might devolve into a combo f*ck fest where you land a single move and your opponent dies. After the vamp rework I knew my fears were true and the game I had once loved so much had become a combo fest with almost zero game balance. I still occasionally play, but now I’ll see people pull off combos that do all of your hp and it just makes me sad knowing what the game once was. I only started watching around September 2023 because I wanted nostalgia for old YBA and I stuck with the channel. I may not be a long time viewer but I am a long time player, and it feels bad to see what was once my favorite game become this sh*thole Uzu turned it into.

YBA was one of, if not my first experience In roblox, I started playing due to one video about Jotaro and Dio’s fight made in YBA, and I got hooked quickly, i met most of my close friends there, and of course, eclipse’s amazing channel, which i enjoyed (and still enjoy) after so long, three years sharing laughs, frustration, fun, and anger, i wish I could turn time back to where the game was at his highest point, and enjoy it one last time before closing the door behind me, but I will always remember all those nice moments that I had with the game, and all the fun I had watching your videos all up until now, thank you eclipse, for always giving people laughs and fun.

Like you Eclipse. I used to play YBA all the way from when Twoh was released and even longer when KCR was first leaked. This game just fell to loophole i cannot return from. The game that i played before was when i used to play with my friends. The combat was actually great. Me and my gang were doing once a day a steel ball run to mess with people and have some fun. But now. Time flies. Yba grew up. And we did too. I absolutely enjoy the first initial releases of YBA. Back when people called SPTW the best stand in the game. How TWOH was absolutely overpowered when it first released and people begging the staff to buff MIH.
I've been watching your videos since the first ever yba video you posted. And i'll still be here since i do thoroughly enjoy your content and what your channel is trying to achieve.
For now i can safely call it. Rest in Piece Old YBA. You will be missed. But not by alot. (btw the part where i enjoy TWOH being op...Yeah i didnt. I just had the stand and it was fun LOL)

I’m playing the game since March 2020 and I can’t genuinely express how joyful I was playing this game! From the music, the map, the combat, it was just better. Now the map doesn’t have this charm, the old music was better, the combat relies on 1 hit to win the battle. Before there were gang wars, arcade gatherings now there’s nothing, just trading for skins. In my opinion everything started going downhill after the stone ocean update. Now I don’t play the game, but me and my friends still remember the good old days. The last 2-3 mins genuinely brought a smile on my face irl!
PS: Ty Eclipse for making those videos.
