Great video, you hit the nail on the head with Woody. They seem like they should act older than Andy because of the adult voices, but they are actually more childish. And Toy Story 1 is also my favorite Toy Story. I love the others, but they just don’t feel like the first one did. It’s kind of magical as a short self-contained story and the early animation adds to that.
5:15 I like how this takes the entire premise of “worthless” from Pixar’s unofficial first movie Brave Little Toaster, headed by Mr. Lasseter, I love how these movies are so different yet so intertwined at core…..
I believe the theory that Woody was a hand me down toy from Andy's late father but since it was pointed out that Woody was Andy's favorite since Kindergarten, Andy must have got him before he died because I don't want to believe a theory that Andy and Molly have different dads
I mean, to be fair, one could make the argument that Mr. Potato Head and the other toys helped contribute to Woody's jealousy towards Buzz and his misguided actions by ignoring him and gushing over Buzz. In Slinky and Rex's case they were Innocently Insensitive, Mr. Potato Head was intentionally being a jerk to Woody and rubbing his feelings of inadequacy to Buzz in his face ("Yeah, like the attic!"). So the blame is kind of fifty-fifty. Buzz was also kind of at fault for him and Woody getting separated from Andy because it was him tackling Woody that resulted in them falling out of the car (that's not to say Woody is free of fault, but he's not the only one at fault).
Very cool! I just realized that we both uploaded video essays about Toy Story almost the same week. You brought up a lot of stuff in your analysis that i missed, but we also made many similar points which is cool. Good work, you earned a sub!
Sorry for spamming, but the last thing I'd like to say is that it would be cool to discuss the movie with you some way. I really liked you take on the movie and I think it could be interesting
Yooo, this was really well put together. Very succinct analysis of woody's character development, and it really helped me understand a bit more about a movie i loved as a child. I'm not sure i really understand the role of potatohead in the film. He seems justified in his opposition to woody's position, but seeing him not thrive without woody and get immediately destroyed instead of made up with on the movie's conclusion is a strange way to characterize a character you're meant to agree with. All in all though, a solid video.
Thanks so much! Glad it made you think more about the movie. I agree that Mr. Potato Head is justified in calling Woody out but him being correct is exactly why Woody can't make up with him publicly. After working to remove Woody from power, Potato Head makes the mistake that many revolutionaries do and fails to fill the vacuum of power left by Woody's absence. In fact, society operates in much the same way as the bourgeoisie (represented by the pig Hamm) still exploits the proletarians for their labor and what little property they own. Potato Head has to be dealt with swiftly upon Woody's return exactly because of his justified transgression, or else the toys will think it's okay to revolt against the leadership with no consequence. Stay woke!
I think you were reading a bit much into the deeper character stuff for pig and potato head, or if it was meant to be funny i wasn't sure, but the rest was all pretty spot-on. Tightly written and edited. GJ OP.
The thing is, main characters who are bad role models aren't bad if it's clear THEY ARE BEING BAD, and learn from their mistakes. All the words you used to describe Woody early in the video can easily shape a young child, kids can't learn if they don't make mistakes, so the main characters should have flaws too.
Woody was BOTH a good leader and a bad leader. Buzz help showed his true colors from being a good leader on the surface and then helped form him back to being a good leader
I hope to do more video essays just like this, please leave a comment letting me know your thoughts!
Woody is my best Disney char forever, no one can beat him

This was a lot of fun to watch. I'd love to see you analyze Woody's story arc across the rest of the series!
Glad you enjoyed it! I definitely have more to say about Woody haha

By the way, I love the bit about Randy Newman. One of my favorite artists.

I love Spies in Disguise. I love Officer Wendy's message at the beginning and it was the perfect swan song for Blue Sky whether they knew it or not
Make more of these man. This was great.

I appreciate the feedback!
your analysis and the comedy bits in this video is so good👍 it's great to know it's made from your love of woody too. great job!
Loved the vid. Would love see a vid talking about other toy story topics
🙏 I'll be revisiting the series for sure
This was unexpectedly good, awesome video.
LMFAO. WOODY IS THE AYATOLLAH. I CRIED LAUGHING.
Really great analysis and the bit about Mr. Potato Head throwing a coup is the cherry on top

Freeway vids hope you pop up on the algorithm
This is wonderful
You gotta make more video essays bro. This shit hits.
“Violence will get you no where, except for Pizza Planet.” lol I’m dead
nah violence is always the answer

awesome.
thank ya kindly.
cheers! :)
Did you just say Mulan is bad!? Bro, cash me outside
theres a snake in my boot
Woody is childish like a bratty kid. Sounds like Caillou to me. (I don’t actually think this about the 2 characters)
Except Caillou has cancer whilst Woody is clean
don't reference cailou
@buzzytrombone4353 Caillou actually doesn't have cancer he's just an evil spoiled brat .
Yeah, Woody's fine, but Buzz will always be better.
nah buzz is too nice and he's stupid too and just plane way too much of a goody two shoes
@@jessicapinkman-hd4bw I never liked Woody's snarky attitude in the movies, which is why I always liked Buzz, better.
@@darellarocho5729boring you are
Wait, you HATE Woody?
