Thank you so much, we are thrilled to have power and so blessed to have only minor damage. My prayers are for so many that have lost loved ones and so much more, Helene was horrible 🙈🙏
You are so very welcome, thank you for watching and telling me where you are watching from, I sure love seeing that people have eaten this all around the world, it truly is a classic. Many thanks to you and yours 🥰🤗
My mom would make this with some onion, celery and ground beef, so it was goulash, but what I love is that you added the butter and sugar like she did. It’s so much better with butter!!!
Goulash or tomatoes and macaroni, either one is some good stuff 😀 I’m so glad you enjoyed it! So many have asked why sugar, but it just works. Thank you so much for watching 🥰🤗
Absolutely 🙌 Maybe we ate it due to it being so cheap but I sure am happy we did because when we had this it was simply delicious and we felt like we were eating like a king lol! Simple, cheap and delicious, ya can’t beat that 🥰🤗
I had your video Old Fashioned Stewed Potatoes come into my RUclips feed today. I watched it and was so excited as I grew up in Mississippi on this dish. We didn't have a lot of money so we had this dish a lot. I can't wait to make this, close my eyes, and walk down memory lane. The dish you are making today is one we had a lot as well. Only difference in hers was she added onions, but mom added onions to everything. I am so happy I have found you as your dishes are something we all need at this time as they are economical and absolutely delicious.
Oh honey, this made me smile 😊 First let me say I am so happy you stumbled across my little channel…big ol’welcome to you 🤗 I grew up in a large family and things were very lean, but mom made the most delicious meals. This is also a favorite for me, but I completely get it when you taste certain food and it just takes you right back home to mommas table, to me that’s a comfort food 🙌 Like giving your soul a hug 🤗 I really like sharing economical dishes because times are very hard for so many people and it may go back to people looking for all these older recipes, and they really are so good! I love onions in everything too, but I did keep it simple just in case someone doesn’t have that, I want them to know it’s still good! Thank you for watching and bless you for commenting, I hope you enjoy that walk down memory lane 🥰🤗
My family and I love tomato’s and macaroni noodles. My husband and I grew up on this. I don’t believe I could ever get tired of this, it’s delicious. I love to eat it with some buttermilk cornbread, yummy! I’m glad you got your internet back. I know we’re both blessed that we didn’t suffer damage from the hurricane like MANY people. Two hurricanes back to back is so tragic. God bless all of them and they’re in my prayers. ❤ 🤗
We are certainly blessed for sure, power and WiFi was very minimal compared to what some have lost, I can’t imagine 😢 🙏 This simple little recipe is a favorite for me as well, one of those comfort dishes, and it was cheap and filling 😀🥰 Thank you friend, I’m so glad y’all are ok 🤗
Macaroni and tomatoes is one of my favorite things! It is always delicious and cheap! This is my first one of your videos. I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
Aww honey thank you for watching, I sure appreciate it. Isn’t this little dish delicious? This has fed us and kept our belly full and happy many times. This and stewed potatoes is one of those recipes that didn’t feel like you were skimping at all, we thought we were eating like a king..and we were. Many thanks fir dropping in and saying hello 🥰🤗
I love it as well, it’s an oldie, but a goodie 😀 We like pepper too and it’s a good thing we do, because I sure hit it heavy 🤣😂 Thank you for stopping by 🥰🤗
I grew up eating this here in central PA. Canned stewed tomatoes and macaroni. My mom made a couple times per month. A super cheap satisfying meal. Especially in the 80s and early 90s.
It is truly a super cheap and satisfying meal. I love canning so I always have my tomatoes ready to go and macaroni is cheap so it’s a win win 😀 Thanks for sharing your location, I love to see what other people are eating in their region. Thank you so much for watching and big hugs from SC 🤗🥰
Aww honey, this just made my heart smile 🥰🤗 You don’t know how much it means to me for people to not only watch our channel, but to take their time to stop and say hello and send us love, and for this o am so grateful 🙏 Thank you so much, hugs to you 🤗🥰
So glad you weren’t there during Helena! My prayers are with you, your family, and all those affected by this horrible tragedy! I’m 59 and was raised in Wisconsin. My mom made macaroni and stewed tomatoes a lot because we all loved it! She used a little cornstarch but no sugar to counter the acid in the tomatoes. But she used store bought stewed tomatoes so she probably knew she didn’t need the sugar! I live in Central America now and can only find stewed tomatoes in a few stores and the are very expensive (luxury items usually are!). I try to make my own with canned tomatoes and they can be pretty good but since I was the only one in my small family that liked tomatoes I didn’t make them very often. Since my husband passed away and our daughter has her own family I think I’ll start making them again! Thanks for the reminder of one of my childhood favorites! And that cheese toast looks delicious! Hope you have a video of how you make it! I’m binge watching your channel and excited to see what else you have! From a new subscriber!😊😊😊 PS I’ll try not to comment too much! 😂
Oh honey big ol’hugs to you…welcome 🤗 Thank you very much for your kind words, I’m so glad we were safe from the storm as well, our area was hit hard 🥲 So sorry for the loss of your hubby! Maybe canning would be a wonderful distraction, I absolutely love canning and I know exactly what’s in my jar. Stewed tomatoes always has some sugar in them so you wouldn’t notice it in this recipe, it really balances it out nicely! You should totally treat yourself, it’s so good 🙌 I’ve made the cheese toast for many years and I’ve always called them cheese blitzes, I don’t mind sharing at all, my kids love these. I just shred some cheese, I used Colby Jack, mix with a little mayo, a dash of garlic, a little oregano, mix well and spread on bread, then a sprinkle of paprika on top, I toast until it’s crispy and bubbly, I can eat these alone, they really are good! Thank you so much for watching, subscribing and taking the time to say hello, honey you leave a message anytime ya want!! Come on in and sit awhile 🥰🤗
This just blesses my heart 🥰 I absolutely love getting feedback!!! I’m so happy that y’all are enjoying this recipe, it really is delicious, big hugs 🤗 🥰
They served this to us in middle school as a side in the 70s was so good and our school lunches were all cooked in the cafeteria ! Bringing back memories
Kids today just don’t know what they are missing out on 🙈 I’m hopeful that seeing how easy and delicious some of these old recipes are that they will make a comeback 😀 So happy to bring back a wonderful memory for you, it really feels like stepping back in time when I eat this 🥰🤗
Rhonda I’m new here, and I’m loving your channel. I found you a few days ago. I heard you talk, and your voice felt like home ❤ I’m Lumbee from southeastern NC, but live in West Virginia. My mama and grandma made this dish, and you are right, the bacon grease makes it better. I’m glad your family is safe, and thank you for posting.
Oh honey welcome to my little channel, I’m so glad you found your way here 🤗 Reading this just blesses my soul, I want people to remember some of these good old recipes that have been forgotten along the way and when you make them it just takes you right back to your childhood. I’m honored you dropped in and so thankful you said hello and I LOVE your name it is unique 🥰🤗
You are so welcome! Thank you so much we are thrilled to have our power back on, that was a tough time! I love the simple recipes that we grew up on, they just bring back wonderful memories and that comforts my soul 🥰🤗
It’s such a thrifty, hearty, delicious meal. I grew up in a family of 6 so it was a win for mom. It’s definitely a recipe that has been passed to many generations. We may not have had much but we thought we were eating like royalty lol 😂 I also fed my littles this dish, it brings back great memories for me! Thank you so much for watching 🥰🤗
It’s one of those recipes that will take you right back home to your momma or grandmas table! I love it because it’s not only cheap and easy but so filling, it hits ya soul 🙌 Thank you for watching I appreciate it 🥰🤗
Yay!! I’m so glad it popped up out of the blue, wtg YT lol 😂 Honey had you some bacon grease you won’t regret it, that bacon essence just hits different 😀Bless you for watching and I’m so happy you’re here friend 🥰🤗
Oh honey a big ol’welcome to you 🤗 I’m so glad you stumbled across our channel, we sure do enjoy hearing from everyone! Bless you for watching, commenting and subscribing, I appreciate it…hugs 🤗🥰
Aww now that’s a compliment 🤗 I’m so glad this video brought back wonderful memories for you! It’s amazing how certain foods or smells take us back in time 🥰🤗
I miss being a kid and eating stuff like that. Things were simple and good. I like that you two are doing the video as a couple. God bless you and I wish you all the best!
For me the simple little recipes are the absolute best, nothing fact no frills just some goodness, and it’s light on the wallet to which makes it a plus. It brings back great memories for sure when life was easy 🥰 Thank you so much for your kind words, he enjoys his taste testing job and takes it very seriously 😂🤣 Bless you for dropping by and watching, I always enjoy when people stop in to say hello 🥰🤗
This was a new dish to me. I love macaroni, I love tomatoes. I LOVED your stewed potatoes that I made. So, this was a no-brained!!! I found large macaroni( never there was such a thing) , and went to work. Turns out, I was missing the stewed tomatoes, since J hust used tomato sauce 14.5 oz size, also only had fire-roasted diced tomatoes, so I scissored them up a bit and in they went. I have a cholesterol issue, so I used half butter, half veg oil for richness. I think the tomato sauce made it much more tomato-y, which I loved. I served it with veggies and tender BBQ pork steaks. ❤My husband and I LOVED IT❤️ Thank you.
Ohhhh my goodness, do you know how happy it makes me feel when someone says I tried this and loved it? If I wasn’t fat I’d do a back flip lol 😂 I just love getting feedback, it sounds like you had a wonderful supper 🙌 Thank you so much for sharing friend…big hugs and love 🥰🤗
I made grits today and added milk like you said to do and my goodness how did I not know this all these years I don't know but those were the best grits I have ever tasted. I wash out a big vegetable tin can and keep my bacon grease in it and cut a little piece of foil to cover it and keep it in the fridge. My Mom canned her tomatoes from their garden too.. spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce and stewed. This is my kind of meal. Yummy! 😋 LOL hallelujah from Russell. 😂 Thank you for your thoughts. The Lord protected me. I was scared but he did calm my nerves and kept me busy keeping water from coming into my home. The winds were pushing rain under my door. I got it all cleaned up and even organized my front closet because water got in there. I have been meaning to clean it out and this made me get it done.
I’m sooooo glad you are safe, we discussed it several times, I was worried for ya, at least you got some organizing done lol, same for me with my deep freezers 😃 Girl that little bit of milk makes a world of difference in grits, it’s truly one of our favorite things to eat, especially when it’s cold it just gives your tummy a big old hug 🤗 thanks for the feedback 🥰 I will be e joying my canned goodies all year, and nothing compares to that freshness right out the jar…hugs 🤗🥰
I’m up North and we had this all of the time as well…yumm…. Brings me way back 🥰….my mom used to serve this with tuna salad and biscuits or dinner rolls 😊…I’m glad you guys are fine and have your power back up and running again.
Aww thank you so much, we are thrilled to have our power back 🙌 I’m sure this recipe has been served all over the work, I absolutely love reading where everyone is from and I always wonder what people eat in their area, that fascinates me, so thank you so much for sharing that, and I’m glad it brought back wonderful memories for you 🥰 Many thanks for watching and sharing, hugs from SC 🥰🤗
Yay, another Rhonda 🙌 I don’t run into too many of us 😀Welcome honey, I hope you try this one, it’s so simple but absolutely delicious,it feeds a crowd for a little money and ya can’t go wrong there 😂 Bless you for stopping by, I see we spell it the same too 🥰🤗
@@Rhondascountrykitchen Yes, Cannot beat us wonderful Rhonda's. Just like the Beach Boys song "Help Help Me Rhonda". Have went through my entire life with this famous song because of my name, and love it.
Meeee too! Years ago I worked at Eckerd Drugs in the pharmacy and I had 2 older guys who serenaded me every time they came in the store, they started in the front and sang it all the way to the back 😂🤣
@@Rhondascountrykitchen What a great memory to share. It would embarrass me when I was young, then I realized how special to have a All American classic clean song with my name in it. When people at work would ask me if that song was written for me, my response was "Absolutely it was" and with a big smile, 😁 I would leave them standing there wondering, since I said it with such confidence.
Rhonda, first time seeing you. You do a great job and love your recipe. If I were to make it (and I will), I would use the Italian Sunday sauce. A Sunday sauce stews different meats (pork, chicken and beef, preferably) in tomato sauce or stewed and crushed tomatoes. I also would have added some parmesan cheese and garlic powder. What I love about your recipe is that it is inexpensive, and anyone can make it. Great video and the best to you and yours.
Hello 👋 so glad you stopped by and said hello! This recipe is super versatile, in fact I normally add other things, I love some sautéed onions and fresh garlic in it but I really did want people to see that it delicious even when you have the bare minimum. Here in S.C. we were just hit with the storm and lost a lot of meat so I thought it was perfect gir the ones that may not have some meat. I love it with hamburger and veggies in it too, but we call that goulash(I have a video 😀) Cheese is also soooo good on top, you are absolutely right. I have an Italian friend and she had taught me about the Sunday sauce and gravy…love it 😀 I hope you try it and will enjoy it, bless you for watching and sharing, I sure appreciate it 🥰🤗
@@Rhondascountrykitchen Please don't think I was being critical. I was not. I go out of my way to give people recipes that are versatile. I am big on leftovers. If you don't have meat, you deal with what you got and your recipe was great when you got no meat. I personally keep canned chili in my house so after an earthquake, I can make mac and cheese with canned chili. I meant no disrespect and subscribed. I keep a barbecue outside for such emergencies. Thrilled to know you know about Sunday sauce. Only mentioned it because I have some frozen in my freezer and was going to make your recipe using it. I pray you and yours are doing ok after the hurricane.
Oh my goodness no, I didn’t find your comment critical at all! I love when people put their own spin on a recipe and share it with everyone, I hope I didn’t sound rude, I was saying have fun adding all the love you want to this recipe 😀 I thought you were very kind and I truly appreciate comments. I try to answer them all, I feel that people take their time to stop and say hello and I enjoy the feedback 🥰🤗
Oh my goodness yes 🙌 you can say that again. I don’t think we will ever hear kids today say,” You know that McDonalds happy meal just hit different.” 😂🤣 I can taste or just see some of my mommas recipes and I get a warm and cozy feeling, it just brings back wonderful memories!!! Comfort food ROCKS for sure, it will make ya shout lol 🙌 🥰🤗 As I am typing this I’m sopping up some cornbread in some good old vegetable beef soup 🤣
My Mom made this growing up and I still make it. Another thing I love is baked beans on toast! You can use canned or when I have time I get out the Instant pot and make it with a pack of dried navy beans. Inexpensive but tasty!
Oh honey to me that sounds delicious, I have said before I can make a sandwich out of anything and I have had beans on toast I don’t think I’ve had baked beans on toast though but I’ll bet that’s incredible with the hint of sweetness and the crispy toast, oh yes I’m gonna try it lol, thanks for the suggestion 🥰🤗
@@Rhondascountrykitchen It's a staple with British people! I visited Ireland last year and they have baked beans as one of their foods for breakfast... I think you'll like it. They make their beans different then ours, less sweet but I enjoy them both ways.
Yesss, they always serve beans for breakfast on cruises and I’ve always wondered why 😂🤣 I do thank you so much for that little tidbit, I could certainly get down with the British and their beans 🫘
Yes ma’am cheese is so good on top, to me, cheese makes everything better 🙌 I love this recipe it’s warm on your belly and light on the wallet 😀 Bless you for watching and letting me know your region, I love seeing what other people are eating in their neck of the woods 🥰🤗
Yes honey I could have ran through the house shouting when the power came back on, I was ecstatic 🙌 I’m so glad your babies loved the chili, bless you for letting me know, I just LOVE the feedback friend 🥰🤗
1st time watching from Maine! Enjoy your channel. We had this as kids and when Mom ran out of her canned tomatoes, she would substitute a can of tomato soup! But the rest of ingredients were the same! oh so good! thank you for the memories!
Hello from SC 👋 Maine is on my list of places to visit,I love seeing where every one is from 🥰 Tomato soup is a great substitution for this recipe 🙌 isn’t it odd how seeing or tasting food brings back such vivid memories? It’s truly a comfort food and you are so very welcome honey, it makes me happy when I hear how a simple recipe made someone smile…thank you 🥰🤗
I grew up eating this at least a couple times a week. We didn't always have butter but we had home canned tomatoes and macaroni was cheap...It was economical and filled our bellies. Thanks for the video. You guys are so cute together!
Yes ma’am it’s such a thrifty meal, but it’s one of those recipes that doesn’t taste cheap, it really is so hearty, it got us through many days 😀 we thought we were eating like kings. I always have canned tomatoes on hand as well, my mom, bless her, taught me how to can them and that lesson was priceless, nothing taste quite as good as popping open that jar getting a taste of summer in the depth of winter, it’s good stuff indeed 🥰🤗
I love how you talk about how affordable it is for good eating. I'm from Nova Scotia, in Canada. My Mom made it. I guess we come from the same Scots-Irish people. She used Campbells soup, but I'd like to try with the canned tomatoes. It seems a bit better to me. Thank you for sharing.
I grew up in a family of 6 and we didn’t have a lot, but my goodness how my mom could stretch a dollar lol! We didn’t have anything fancy but always good. This recipe feeds a whole lot for a little and is just delicious 🙌 Honey there’s not a thing wrong with Campbell’s but them canned tomatoes are fabulous, I say they just hit different 😂🤣 I absolutely love reading where everyone is from, it fascinates me, I do have some Irish roots 😊 Thank you so much for watching and saying hello 🥰🤗
Yes, girl! Grew up on tomatoes and noodles! And tomatoes and rice! We always ate salmon patties with it. The bacon grease and butter is everything! Pork chops and fried chicken go good with it, too.
Yes ma’am, I love stewed tomatoes and rice, we always had fried sausage with them. I have salmon patties on my to-do list, have done catfish patties though. Girl bacon just makes everything hit different lol 😂 💯 soooo good with fried chicken, pork chops or anything really. Times are tough for a lot of people right now so I thought it would be perfect to show that it can stand alone and be a meal as well. This was my supper and lunch the next day 😀
@@Rhondascountrykitchen absolutely! It can be made alone. It’s a hearty dish. Don’t need anything else. It’s filling. And like you said- not expensive.
It’s kind of like my stewed taters recipe, it’s so good but it taste like you put a lot more time into than you did 😀 Cheap is always a plus these days but was the most important growing up and while I was raising my littles. I sure love the simple recipes 🥰
I've been watching the hurricanes, and omg I'm so glad you all are OK! My mum used to cook something similar, she made ours slightly more brothy, and would do a kind of egg drop soup to it. Still one of my favourite dishes, glad to see you cooking again Hun xxx
Oh my goodness it has been rough here, I sure pray for everyone in Florida 🙏 thank you 🥰 Isn’t it crazy how the simple recipes our moms made were the best ? I love this simple little dish, thank you so much for watching friend and for your kind words 🥰🤗
Oh yum!! I used to hate Lima beans, I would tell my mom how I’d never cook them as an adult, turns out I love them as an adult, I also realized it was very economical and I fed them to my children too 🥰🤗
Thank you! Thank you! for reminding me of “macaroni and maters!”. I haven’t had it in years….but I bet I’m going to have your tweaked version tomorrow!😃~Gina
You are very welcome 😀I hope you enjoy them, for me it brings back great memories and takes me back to my childhood, when life was so simple….happy cooking 🥰🤗
Aww thank you so much, I’ve got the sweetest viewers 🥰 Comfort food is the first thought that comes to my mind as well making this, and great memories! It’s amazing to me how certain food or even smells instantly bring back fond memories, I’m sure glad it does, takes me right back to my childhood! Thank you so much for your support, big hugs 🤗 🥰
@@Rhondascountrykitchen I agree. What you do is so important. Helping people in a budget learn how to cook especially on a budget. Blessings sweet Girl
Ok now i have to make macaroni & tomatoes even though im the only one who will eat it but thats ok lol 😆 thank u so much for ur video take care bless u both ❤
This looks so delicious! My mother used to make it when I was a child. I agree, it’s getting harder and harder to find the large elbows. They have a special taste compared to the small elbows.
I totally agree, the bigger ones just get all that sauce inside and make it better 😀 I’m not sure where you are located but if you’re near a Food Lion they still have them. I also like the larger elbows for my macaroni and cheese 🥰
@@Rhondascountrykitchen Thanks for the tip about Food Lion! I love to use the large elbows in my vegetable beef soup. I’m in the Raleigh, NC area. So glad you’re getting your utilities back.
Thank you so much, I hope things weren’t too bad for ya’ll! As I am typing I am sipping my cornbread in some vegetable beef soup 😂 It sure is good with noodles, I like it over rice too 🥰
@sheronbrown7928 isn’t it just delicious? So simple but it sure fills a belly and will make ya smile, thank you so much for the feedback, it thrills my soul 🙌🥰
One of my husband's favorites from his childhood that he eats to this day on a regular basis 😊 His mom made it with a thick layer of cheese and a crumb topping so must have been a casserole, but he didn't like those additions. We just do it in a pot similar to this😊
Oh yess I like it with cheese too, but it really is good without if someone doesn’t have cheese. I also like a little onion and garlic in it but wanted to keep it super simple. Theres so many struggling right now and can use a few cheap meals! If I had rice, pasta or potatoes feeding my kids I knew we could make something 😀 My son never puts hamburger in his spaghetti he prefers it without 😊 It is a simple but delicious recipe! Thank you friend as always…love yas 🥰🤗
You are certainly welcome! If you have anything you’d like me to cook as well I’m all ears! I enjoy feedback, thank you so much for dropping in and saying hello 🥰🤗
I’m so glad you got power. I’ve been without power from ice in SC. We were without power from snow one year . I made coffee on my grill and took some to my neighbor every morning. My mother in law made something similar to yours. I’m going to try yours, bacon grease makes anything taste good.fresh bacon makes the best tasting grease
Thank ya friend! We are thrilled to flip a light switch and watch a little tv, we take so much for granted! Honey that coffee is a necessity, I’m sure the neighbor is still grateful for that coffee, where there’s a will there’s a way ☕️ 😂 Bacon grease gives it that extra umph 😀 I hope you enjoy it friend…many thanks 🙏 🥰🤗
Here in the Midwest . Grandma made something we called macaroni and hamburger. No sugar that I know of, in hers. I'll make some. I'll use a beef bulon cube in the boiling water. Onion juice or dried onion add to the sauce
Yes ma’am check out my goulash video, that’s what we call it here in South Carolina. I love macaroni with almost anything though 😀 Bless you for watching I appreciate it 🥰🤗
Thanks so much for sharing. We grew up in a large family, and half of us preferred tomato juice and macaroni and the other half preferred macaroni and cheese. Mom served them both, usually coupled with a large plate piled high with homemade salmon patties. Yum! But I never could duplicate the taste of hers. Now I know what was needed... cook noodles with salt, in addition to adding a little sugar and bacon grease and alot of butter.
Your mom sounds just like mine, she used to cook us different things too as long as it wasn’t too crazy 🤪 You are the second person that said they always had this with salmon patties, I’ve never had them with it so now I must try it 😀 thanks for the suggestion! I hope this is spot on and you can just savor those memories, give it a try, let me know what ya think! We had a big family as well and these kind of meals went a long way! Bless you for watching 🤗🥰
@marggie4129 I’ve seen several people say that is what their mom made with this dish, just curious where were did you grow up? We always had salmon patties with grits here in SC. Thank you for watching 🥰🤗
That is delicious 😋 we call it goulash around our parts, I have a goulash video too, either one is a delight and so cheap and easy 🙌 Many thanks for watching 🥰🤗
Oh honey meeeee too, it seems like some of the most simple recipes are some of the best. It brings back great memories! I sometime wonder what the kids today will look back on and say? I hope my little grandbabies will fondly recall gathering around Gigi’s table making some memories 🥰 Bless you for dropping in and saying hello I appreciate it so much, big hugs 🤗 🥰
Thank you so much, we are so happy for electricity 💡🙌 These simple recipes are so good and bring back great memories, goulash to this day is still a favorite, I have a video of that too 😀 Nothing compares to some of the love our mommas dished out 😂🤗
Ohhh I’ll have to try that, thank you for the tip 💡 I love it when people post their spin on recipes, thank you for watching and spending a few minutes with us, we sure appreciate it 🥰🤗
That is AWESOME! I can see my moms little lard can now that she kept for all that goodness 🤣 I used a crock as well for many years, I still have it and I still have some grease in it, but Russ ordered me one with the strainer on top recently and I really like it…Temu for the win lol! Thanks for watching I sure appreciate it 🥰🤗
Shoot yeah I love stewed tomatoes and rice too, I love tomatoes almost any way though, not sure I’d eat them every night lol 😂 This would surely be a great substitute 🥰
Nightshade is a family of plants that includes tomatoes, Yes, tomatoes can be bad for eczema for some people: Allergic reaction: Tomatoes can cause allergic reactions, even in small amounts. Symptoms include severe itching, swelling, redness, and recurrent rashes that occur immediately after exposure. Irritant: Tomatoes can irritate the skin and make eczema worse. Nightshade vegetable: Tomatoes are a nightshade vegetable, which means they contain solanine, a chemical that can trigger eczema in some people.
I’d definitely say skip this one if your allergic tomatoes, those symptoms doesn’t sound like a good time, it’s delicious but not worth an allergic reaction!
Honey it is delicious, I hope you enjoy every bite 😀 I absolutely love the simplicity of this recipe, no frills but oh how it comforts my soul, takes me way back 🥰🤗
My mom - in - law used to make this, she called it macaroni soup, it was delicious. P.S. I made your stewed potato recipe last night with fried chicken, it is my new favorite!! Thanks you!!❤❤

@@Rhondascountrykitchen SO TRUE ! Glad I found you you are my kind of cook ! Oh and CLEAN ! I don't get people doing cooking videos , showing a recipe that MIGHT be good , but becomes " GAG " worthy , when lack of hygiene rears its ugly head. Example ( I won't call out the site , not my job ) picking up a long haired cat OVER TOP OF FOOD , then after loving on it , she goes back to cooking , NO HANDS WASHED !! YUCK ! Liked you the minute I heard you !! ❤ ❤
@jackieisbell7456 oh honey I believe I have seen the same videos lol 🙈 I can’t figure out if “those videos” are to just get a reaction no matter if it’s positive or negative, but I have gasped a few times 🤣 Thank you so much for your kind words, I’m also a nurse so I wash my hands a million times and I do understand the concept of germs, oh and in my mommas house there was no funny business happening in the kitchen, you better not even walk through with a brush 😂🤣 Bless you for watching and I’m so glad you stopped on to say hello 🤗🥰
@@Rhondascountrykitchen Oh yeah , I put my own hair back or up in a pony tail . I started cooking standing on a tomato crate at 7 , when everyone but Me and my babysister had the flu . This was in the 50s , it was a complete pandemic . I took care of her , six months old , and made soup for a week . Our Dr. came to the house 3 times , we were truly under quarantine . He watched me fix food and said he was comfortable after he saw how many times I washed my hands . Lol
What an awesome story, you were taking care of everyone at 7 ❤️!!! I also remember standing on a pot flipped upside down cooking pancakes with my momma, we didn’t have a stool but that big pot worked perfectly, we also used a pot to sit on at the table when we couldn’t quite reach the table, there were no booster seats back then but our makeshift booster pot worked perfectly 🤣😂 my kids did some pot sitting as well! I drill hand hygiene into all 7 of my grandchildren and while traveling on vacation 2 weeks ago we stopped for a potty break, he said gotta wash our hands, and I said yes sir, about that time a lady left the stall, marched right pass the sinks and out the door she went and he looked up at me with his mouth opened, and of course I told him why it was so important to wash up and not touch the door, but as we walked out she was pouring herself a drink at the drink fountain and my 4 year old grandson announced, “Gigi, she didn’t wash her hands in the bathroom,” he wasn’t wrong 😂🤣 I just said yes my boy that’s why I tell you not to touch things and we hurried along lol! Gotta teach them young 🥰
Hey I’m 85 from NC and been eating tomatoes and macaroni all my life. Over the years I’ve started to use a little bit of ketchup instead of sugar. Try it you might like it. I sure do.
Oh yes ma’am I love it, I’m a huge ketchup fan 😀 in fact I love spaghetti with butter and ketchup, I always say don’t knock it until you try it 😂🤣 Thank you so much for watching and sharing where you’re from, I love that, and for saying hello 🥰🤗
Oh, this takes me back to my Mama's macaroni and tomatoes...hers was a little more soupy...she added chicken broth to make it that way. Also added cheese, sometimes. And, another variation: tomatoes and rice. Just so good. She always made cornbread to go with. I'm a new subscriber! I'm from Georgia. Can't wait to catch up with your videos.
Oh honey a big old welcome to you 🥰 I lived in Sylvester, GA for a few years and still have some dear friends that live there! This little recipe can be done so many different ways. It is absolutely fine with cheese on top. I’m a huge cheese fan, but I didn’t want to show that it can be justice delicious with the bare minimum. I’m so glad this brought back. Great memories for you. I just love hearing that. Girl do tomatoes and rice what that’s some good eating right there, Momma always fried big smoked sausage links and that’s what we had with tomatoes and rice, so good 🙌 Just come on in and take your shoes off and sit a while, I’m so happy you stumbled across my lil’channel 🥰🤗
@Rhondascountrykitchen , saw your video for tomato gravy! I grew up with fried salmon patties, biscuits, tomato gravy, and rice. Will go to that next. That particular meal came straight from my grandmother. I'm in Dublin, Laurens Co. Thank you for the welcome...nothing like sweet people and good, southern cooking. 🥰
Yes ma’am tomato gravy is big in GA, I also have a friend who made hamburger gravy with ketchup that we ate a lot there and it’s so good, I’m gonna make that one soon as well as salmon patties. I have a video for catfish patties that taste a lot like crab cakes on here too. I love the older almost forgotten recipes, I always say they just hit different lol 😂 I’m so glad you dropped by and we appreciate ya watching 🥰
Aww bless you 🥰 I honestly didn’t realize I had one until I heard myself on video after a few little jabs, from some people ,I was kind of self-conscious about it, but I am who I am, honey. There’s no changing that 🤣 thank you so much for stopping by. I sure do appreciate it.🥰🤗
@georgiawhitworth811 it brings back so many great memories! It’s so funny how a taste or smell takes you right back to your childhood, right down memory lane 🥰🤗
Ohhh good to know, I save mine in my little grease container and I know where it came from lol! 😂 I love this old dish it’s a comfort food for me, great memories for many people.
Oh my goodness yesss 🙌 that is so good, tomatoes and macaroni just pairs so well. Honey you throw that grilled cheese beside it and you certainly have an outstanding meal! Thanks for watching and sharing your great idea 💡 🥰🤗
I grew up in southern California, and we had a little crock of bacon grease by the stove. We called this noodles and tomatoes, and it's something I still make for myself after all these years...comfort food. 😊 We also used to have noodles and milk (with butter/salt/pepper) as a variation on the theme...lol. ❤
Yessss those buttered noodle will hit ya soul too 😂 We had noodles of every kind because they were cheap, same with rice, cheap and filling 🙌 You are right comfort food at its finest 🥰 Thank you for sharing where you grew up, it’s so cool to see that people have enjoyed this all around the world 🥰🤗
Aww I’m sure where you are located but I would certainly make you an entire pot of it if you are close by, you are too kind …thank you so much for watching 🥰😀
@@Rhondascountrykitchen both my mother and late wife used to make this dish. When served with a hunk of homemade cornbread it is better than tis finest steak you will ever eat.
I absolutely agree, I’d prefer some good ol’comfort food over a steak most days. These simple dishes for me are often the best! Maybe it’s the memories that are associated with the food but it surely transports me right back to my childhood and to my mommas table 🥰
The secret has to be the large elbows, they're like little tomato scoops and each bite is full and rich, not to mention the bacon grease. Glad y'all are well, my daughter lives near Asheville and it was a little rough but Florida was devastating, we keep them and everyone in our prayers.
Yessss 🙌those jumbo elbows are indeed sauce holding champions lol, they just absorb all the goodness, and cradle the flavors making every bite a delight 😀🤗
Yes ma’am it is, look at my goulash video it is similar but this is just simple goodness, cheap meals honey this kinda meal got us through many days. Hugs shuga 🥰🤗
I have never had that but now I’m certainly gonna try it, that sounds divine 🙌 I’ve had dumplings many ways including squirrel dumplings lol but never tomatoes…bless you for sharing this…love it 🥰
Oh yesss that is good too! So many ways you can eat this but I wanted to show how just a few ingredients can taste so good! It brings back lots of good memories, many thanks for watching 🥰🤗
I never ate macaroni and tomato.. my mom would make gulash .. but i didn't know my grandma so i have no idea what she made lol😂 and know i would not put sugar in macaroni and tomato i would put lots of cheese in it
This is one of my go to dishes that I always have ingredients for. I come from a family of 12, so the cheaper the meal, the better. My problem is that I always overcook, so I have left overs for days. I have a very small freezer so no room to freeze any.
I also came from a big family and then I had 3 kids but I normally cooked a lot for leftovers to be lunch the next day, when I became an empty nester that had been a huge problem for me, I cook too much, I’m trying to do better though 😀 I still take it to lunch the next day though and I share so it works out . This was great for cheap, easy and delicious 😋 🥰🤗
Now you know that’s some good eatin’ I love any kind of greens but mustard greens are my favorite and of course ya gotta have the cornbread alongside it, it sure brings back great memories. I would not suggest that amount of pepper, although Russ loved it, it was a tad spicy for me, o added a splash of ketchup and all was well 🥰🤗
Oh yum, that sounds delicious, I’ll bet that really brings out the flavor, I will have to try that for sure, thank you so much for the tip, I love getting comments about were everyone is from and the way they serve it, love it 🥰🤗
Believe it or not, Minnesotans know about this, too! When I was growing up, (I’m 59) my older sister (she’s 64) was a VERY picky eater. Whenever my mother made something for the rest of the family that SHE wouldn’t eat, my mom would make macaroni & tomatoes for my sister. She always had elbow macaroni and tomatoes on hand. It is really yummy!
Oh my gosh my brother was picky too and my mom would make those “special” meals for him, I picked relentlessly and would say I’d never do that for my kid, they could eat it or leave it, guess who kid didn’t eat onions and guess who made their precious babies “special” meals, um that would be me 🙋♀️😂🤣 The good Lord made me eat those words! I love seeing people have are this all around the world, when times were tough everyone survived on some of these cheap meals. I still love it now though, those simple recipes to me bring back the best memories. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, hello from South Carolina 👋🥰🤗
I have one, it sits on the stove lol! I prefer the fine pepper verses the bigger pieces, maybe I need to find one that grinds it smaller, I agree it has a better flavor though 🥰
That looks so good. I'd really be good with that black pepper you put in!😊 Oh man it's so simple and tasty. Another great meal you shared Maam. Thank you.....
Thank you so much, we sure do love us some black pepper, it’s a good thing we do bc I had the wrong side of the pepper open 😂 it had a little bite but was delicious! Thanks for watching 🥰🤗
In my opinion the home canned tomatoes are superb! I love canning my own food because I know exactly what goes in those jars 😀 Sounds like you had some wonderful cooks in your life and that is truly priceless! I love cooking these older recipes because it brings back such wonderful memories 🥰 Thank you for watching and saying hello, we sure appreciate it 🤗🥰
@@Rhondascountrykitchen yes I did grow up with awesome cooks in my family. And I learned to cook by watching them and asking them about there recipes. My mom started teaching to cook at the age 8 and canning at the age 10. I love to cook and trying new recipes and making up my own recipes. But as far as canning I only put up pickles, and pickled beets, and tomatoes. I'm getting to old to do much canning now. But I past what I was though down to my children and now they are passing it on to their children. Anyway I'll try your recipe with the macaroni it looks good. And thanks for sharing your video.
That’s awesome that you are passing your recipes down! Honestly, this is the reason I have this channel, for my children and my grandchildren, passing the love down 🥰❤️
So happy you are back home. My prayers are for all those affected by the devastating flooding.
Thank you so much, we are thrilled to have power and so blessed to have only minor damage. My prayers are for so many that have lost loved ones and so much more, Helene was horrible 🙈🙏
I’m a 60 year old Canadian. Grew up eating macaroni and tomatoes. Thank you for posting this. My best to you and yours
I grew up eating this. I was surprised when others had not heard of it. Good warm and cold.
I love stewed tomatoes and Macaroni!! Love the addition of bacon grease, we have it also. I like mine really peppery!
I love it as well, it’s an oldie, but a goodie 😀 We like pepper too and it’s a good thing we do, because I sure hit it heavy 🤣😂 Thank you for stopping by 🥰🤗
Bacon grease! Yes...if nothing else was on the shelf in hard times..Mama had tomatoes and macaroni to feed us...
Yesss 🙌 and we thought we were eating like a king, it’s an oldie but Lord it’s a goodie 🥰🤗Honey that bacon grease is liquid gold 😂
Love them 😊
Thank you so much, I love them too, a comfort food for me 🥰🤗
Rhonda makes dinner for Russell. We get to watch. That's as simple as it gets, and America falls in love with their channel.
From a new subscriber!😊😊😊
PS I’ll try not to comment too much! 😂
Oh honey big ol’hugs to you…welcome 🤗 Thank you very much for your kind words, I’m so glad we were safe from the storm as well, our area was hit hard 🥲
So sorry for the loss of your hubby!
I made this for my husband the other day and am making it again right now. Thank you for sharing easy yummy recipes! This is so good!❤
This just blesses my heart 🥰 I absolutely love getting feedback!!!
One of my favorite southern meals! Glad y’all are OK and have your power back. Thanks for sharing another great recipe from the good old days.❤️
You are so welcome! Thank you so much we are thrilled to have our power back on, that was a tough time! I love the simple recipes that we grew up on, they just bring back wonderful memories and that comforts my soul 🥰🤗
My mom used to make me macaroni and tomatoes when I was little.
I grew up eating macaroni & tomatoes 😋
It’s one of those recipes that will take you right back home to your momma or grandmas table! I love it because it’s not only cheap and easy but so filling, it hits ya soul 🙌 Thank you for watching I appreciate it 🥰🤗
This video just popped up on my feed. Looks absolutely delicious! Will be trying asap. And definately adding the bacon grease. Yum!
Yay!! I’m so glad it popped up out of the blue, wtg YT lol 😂 Honey had you some bacon grease you won’t regret it, that bacon essence just hits different 😀Bless you for watching and I’m so happy you’re here friend 🥰🤗
Just ran into your channel, new subscriber !!! Ya seem so sweet and friendly. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed week end.🙂
Oh honey a big ol’welcome to you 🤗 I’m so glad you stumbled across our channel, we sure do enjoy hearing from everyone! Bless you for watching, commenting and subscribing, I appreciate it…hugs 🤗🥰
Thank you for this recipe, it looks delicious and it reminds me of grandma days.😊😊😊
❤My husband and I LOVED IT❤️
Thank you.
From one Rhonda to another, thank you for sharing this easy recipe. Looks delicious.
Shoot yeah lol 😂 I love it 🥰 we have an entire song just for us, I hear it at work as well, I’m a nurse so lots of shenanigans there 🤣😂
Thanks Rhonda for bringing up such easy & scrumptious recipes ❤❤❤ hugs from Texas
You’re very welcome, bless you for watching friend…hugs 🤗🥰
good people you are!
Aww bless you, thank you so much and we sure appreciate you watching, as well as dropping in to say hello. It just warms my heart 🥰🤗
Scrumptious
Thank you so much 🥰🤗
The simple things can make you sooo happy .Good old fashioned comfort food Rocks !
Hi Rhonda! In my southwest neck of the woods, we add shredded cheddar cheese just like grama did. My total favorite once a week. Bowl and spoon...YUM!
Yes ma’am cheese is so good on top, to me, cheese makes everything better 🙌 I love this recipe it’s warm on your belly and light on the wallet 😀 Bless you for watching and letting me know your region, I love seeing what other people are eating in their neck of the woods 🥰🤗
I met my now now husband at 15. I am now 53. He introduced me to macaroni and tomatoes. It is now our favorite comfort food😊
PTL! so glad y’all have power❤ this looks delicious as usual. I made your chili with no beans and my boys ate the whole pot 😂❤
So glad that I found your channel.
@doristucker430 I’m certainly glad you did too 😀Bless you for watching, big welcome to you honey, sit and stay awhile 🥰🤗
Delicious simplicity.
It really is! Sometimes it’s just the simple dishes that taste so great 😀 Thank you for watching 🥰🤗
Add cooked large white lima beams and its a whole new level of amazing.
Wow. That’s the first thing I ever made as a kid. Comfort food for sure. So glad you’re ok. I love your channel. You are a darling

Yesss girl isn’t it the simplest meals that we remember most, I love some good ol’macaroni and tomatoes 🥰
Ok now i have to make macaroni & tomatoes even though im the only one who will eat it but thats ok lol 😆 thank u so much for ur video take care bless u both ❤

Yummy can’t wait to try it
Hope you enjoy it, we love it! It’s easy, delicious and cheap ya can’t go wrong there friend 🥰🤗
As I am typing I am sipping my cornbread in some vegetable beef soup 😂 It sure is good with noodles, I like it over rice too 🥰
This looks perfect for a rainy cold day like today! 😊
Absolutely perfect👌It’s so easy, cheap and just delicious, I hope you enjoy it, thanks for stopping by 🥰🤗

@sheronbrown7928 oh yay, the best part is it’s kid approved 🥰 thank you for the update 🤗
Looks a perfect dish, only thing I'd add would be chilli powder, helps thanks for sharing. Glad you are back online x
Thank you so much, chili powder is a wonderful addition, and some cheese too 😀 I appreciate you watching and saying hello 🥰🤗
Love this ideas Rhonda it is amazing dinner thank u for this supper ideas please bring in more dinner recipes

Thank you friend, thanks for watching girlie 🥰🤗
My mom served it with salmon patties also. Perfect!
@marggie4129 I’ve seen several people say that is what their mom made with this dish, just curious where were did you grow up? We always had salmon patties with grits here in SC. Thank you for watching 🥰🤗
I like to add hamburger to my macaroni and tomatoes.
That is delicious 😋 we call it goulash around our parts, I have a goulash video too, either one is a delight and so cheap and easy 🙌 Many thanks for watching 🥰🤗
Rhonda, I just found your channel, Loved it.I love me some macaroni and tomatoes.God Bless You and Your Family.
Love this recipe. My mama used to make it and the goulash you are talking about. I am glad you all are safe!
Thank you so much, we are so happy for electricity 💡🙌 These simple recipes are so good and bring back great memories, goulash to this day is still a favorite, I have a video of that too 😀 Nothing compares to some of the love our mommas dished out 😂🤗
I put a pinch or 2 of baking soda instead of sugar! Love this Ty
Ohhh I’ll have to try that, thank you for the tip 💡 I love it when people post their spin on recipes, thank you for watching and spending a few minutes with us, we sure appreciate it 🥰🤗

Don’t you worry, I’ve got faith in you, you got this!🥰
I have a stone cheese crock i have kept bacon grease in since i was in my 20s until now, fast forward almost 40 yrs.❤❤❤
That is AWESOME! I can see my moms little lard can now that she kept for all that goodness 🤣 I used a crock as well for many years, I still have it and I still have some grease in it, but Russ ordered me one with the strainer on top recently and I really like it…Temu for the win lol! Thanks for watching I sure appreciate it 🥰🤗
That looks delicious. I had a friend that had to make tomatoes and rice every night for her husband. It’s definitely a favorite
Shoot yeah I love stewed tomatoes and rice too, I love tomatoes almost any way though, not sure I’d eat them every night lol 😂 This would surely be a great substitute 🥰
Nightshade is a family of plants that includes tomatoes, Yes, tomatoes can be bad for eczema for some people:
Allergic reaction: Tomatoes can cause allergic reactions, even in small amounts.
Girl! I’m eaten that but a long time,,but it will be cooked that tonight!

Hey
I’m 85 from NC and been eating tomatoes and macaroni all my life.

@georgiawhitworth811 it brings back so many great memories! It’s so funny how a taste or smell takes you right back to your childhood, right down memory lane 🥰🤗
Hey Rhonda
Was raised in Mac and tomatoes. No sugar. The bacon grease in the grocery store isn’t anything like frying bacon.
Ohhh good to know, I save mine in my little grease container and I know where it came from lol! 😂 I love this old dish it’s a comfort food for me, great memories for many people.
We add macaroni to our tomato soup and serve it with grilled cheese. It’s delicious!
Yessss those buttered noodle will hit ya soul too 😂 We had noodles of every kind because they were cheap, same with rice, cheap and filling 🙌 You are right comfort food at its finest 🥰 Thank you for sharing where you grew up, it’s so cool to see that people have enjoyed this all around the world 🥰🤗
You are a real cook. I am an old man who lives by himself and I would pay 20.00 for a bowl of that.
Hello sis oh I bet if u added ground meat what a meal in one but this I will try hugs and love 😊
Yes ma’am it is, look at my goulash video it is similar but this is just simple goodness, cheap meals honey this kinda meal got us through many days. Hugs shuga 🥰🤗

I never ate macaroni and tomato.. my mom would make gulash .. but i didn't know my grandma so i have no idea what she made lol😂 and know i would not put sugar in macaroni and tomato i would put lots of cheese in it
Oh honey I love goulash, I have a video with that recipe too, it’s a family favorite 😀 I never knew either of my grandmas either, we missed out 🥲
This is one of my go to dishes that I always have ingredients for.
Ate that growing up along cornbread and mustard greens ..looks and know it's good except accident with lots of pepper add more tomatoes to tame it .!!
Now you know that’s some good eatin’ I love any kind of greens but mustard greens are my favorite and of course ya gotta have the cornbread alongside it, it sure brings back great memories. I would not suggest that amount of pepper, although Russ loved it, it was a tad spicy for me, o added a splash of ketchup and all was well 🥰🤗
I don't care what it is if it has butter and bacon grease it's going to be good❤
Yessss 🙌 ya can’t go wrong with either of those ingredients but put them together and it’s magical 😂 Thank you for watching 🥰
My family is from New Mexico and we eat something nearly identical, only difference is we brown the noodles first.
If yall love pepper that much get a pepper grinder. I love the taste.
I have one, it sits on the stove lol! I prefer the fine pepper verses the bigger pieces, maybe I need to find one that grinds it smaller, I agree it has a better flavor though 🥰
My mum use to add green peppers and onions. It's better the next day I find.
Yes those are great additions 🙌 You are 💯 correct those flavors just continue to marry overnight, I always look forward to leftovers for lunch 😂
👍❤️
Thank you 🥰
That looks so good.
My grandma and my mom and my aunts always made spaghetti tomatoes and they would add just a little sugar. And they always use home canned tomatoes.
