One of my all time favorite dish right here. What memories standing in that kitchen helping can tomatoes with my grandmother knowing she was gonna make this for us !!
Haven't had macaroni and tomatoes in a long time. Didn't realize it was a southern thing, but doesn't surprise me. I've been disappointed not knowing what I was missing; it was the sugar. What a difference it makes. Just a reminder for those who still have their mom's be sure to get those recipes, even the simple ones. Looking forward to watching more episodes.
So glad you enjoyed it. My Mom taught me so many of the fundamentals of cooking and I try to glean as much as possible from her when we're together. The sugar does make a big difference!
My Mom made a dinner that she called 'goulash' when she didn't have anything else to make. The prime ingredients were elbow macaroni and canned tomatoes, and then she added whatever she found in the refrigerator. To me it tasted grand. It would probably have tasted even better had we had biscuits, but she never made them.
Brooks, you're absolutely right about home canned tomatoes. Nothing else will do. It makes a huge difference in all my dishes using tomatoes. In the winter, when grocery store fresh tomatoes are not the best, I use my home canned tomatoes to make Mexican salsa, and oh is ot good.
@gstickler1 apparently you were skipped when the gift of a sense of humor was passed out. There are plenty of boring home cooks out there to watch if you prefer someone dry as dust and eloquent but we do thank you for watching and hope you have a blessed day.
Maters is a southern thing. It’s something my mamaw did when I was growing up and so yes really. Lol. Don’t you say maters? And we are real people. No script here. 🤣
Love that with cayenne pepper ,corn bread ,corn on cob or homney and cabbage and eat on it all week
Sounds great!

Put equal sugar and salt in your pinto beans and they'll be better than anyone else's beans.
Looking good!! Love your presentation, keep sharing those recipes :) subscribed! 🙏✌️
I sure will! Thank you!!
Diabetic, so no sugar. Vegan so no bacon grease. But I love the rest of this dish😋😋😋😋😋😋
Have heard applesauce instead of egg works???
Haven’t tried the applesauce. That is interesting

My Mama made this alot when i was growing up , its some good comfort food.Easy peasy.
Maters? Really? Also, it’s usually not a good culinary practice to include words such as brain fart in your videos.
