One note on the practice groups. All groups share the same server session. So, times and track conditions are the same for everyone. You will hear crew chief calling times for other drivers and your overlay standings will get updates from the other groups as well. This is also true for track debris. A crash/off in group 1 will make for rocks and dirt on the track for all other groups. It is a little odd to be a lone and suddenly a turn is covered in rocks that was not before.
Important note about screenshots in replays: You have to have the motion blur option turned on for this to work, this option is on the replay tab. It took me a while for me to figure out why it wasn't working for me.
One note about withdrawing from the session that you are in to be able to register for the next session of another series: As you said, this will not remove you from your current session and you can race there. There is a potential issue however, if you experience a computer issue that causes you to close your current session for whatever reason, you will not be able to rejoin. Not necessarily a reason to not use this trick, just something to be aware of. Also, instead of sending a friend request to a driver that you want to know if they are online, you can just select the follow option rather than send a friend request to someone who doesn't know you.
Great and helpful video! Another easy way to make changing the iRacing logo & UI smaller is to press & hold 'CTRL + down-arrow', it is much quicker and you can make the logo much smaller. Then to reset the size press 'CTRL + up-arrow' or reset it in the options as you showed :)
Great video man. The first tip kills me. Me and my buddy did so many private practice sessions! Yeah, it's not a lot of money but just the hassle of it was annoying. Thank you!
Good one Marian! Maybe you can cover the chat as well in a future session. I spent around 10 mintues trying to figure out how to write privately to someone :D. And there are other drivers that are typing normal text, not premade ones (I use them as well). I think they probably have some speach recognition or something, maybe in conjunction with Crew Chief. I don't know.
I wonder if one thing happens to you too. When I go for a test drive usually it doesn't create the exact same track usage & weather as the race/practice sessions but a different settings. Is there a way to overcome this? I guess, I will have to join to a practice session rather than test drive to avoid it, thank you for the tip.
Make sure cores are not parked on your CPU for a start. For me the final bullet was using process lasso. Only caveat is you need the paid version. The paid version has a setting called "CPU Sets." It controls what CPU cores the software can see. iRacing ignores core affinity in windows and process lasso, so you can not use that. What you want to do is make sure iRacing is not using core 0 or 1. Windows sends all of it's system stuff there as well as DirectX and video driver call go there. Secondly, you want to make sure everything is on the right cores beyond that. With AMD CPU's with multiple CCD's, make sure iRacing is locked to one CCD. Usually the one that has the first half of the six or eight cores depending if a 12 or 16 core CPU. On single CCD, just make sure core 0/1 is off like mentioned before. On Intel, still keep core 0/1 off but also make sure all E cores are off for iRacing as well. This way iRacing won't get some instructions sent to an E core instead of a P core. Because Windows scheduler is dumb. Process Lasso (paid), CPU Sets, No Core 0/1, AMD one one CCD allowed in SETS, Intel only P cores allowed in SETS.
@@ewenblack4174 iRacing ignores core affinity. Think of it like a recommendation for the scheduler in Windows. Core affinity can be set in windows or the free version of process lasso. Core SETS is different. It hard locks what cores a program can see at all. So, a quad core with core 0 unselected looks like a three core to the program. But, that is a feature locked to the paid version of the software. I think it is about $30 US. I have been using it for some time now. In short, core affinity is a soft suggestion that can be overridden by programs. Core sets is a hard lock of what cores a program can see at all.
Forgot one: CTRL + K on the keyboard to move the UI (delta position, mirror position, blackbox etc etc). What other 'hidden' features are you using?

Thanks for bringing up all these hidden features. Some I'd never noticed before.
Wow, practice groups is so clutch. Had no idea, thanks!!
You can follow someone without asking to be "friends".
I love it. Excellent video

speech recognition would be really cool, ye! wonder if that's a thing
Right click on their name in the black box. It gives you a bunch of options including DM
Dude some of these were actually really helpful. I’ve been on iracing for a few months now and didn’t even know about some of these things.

for open setup series it makes sense - the weather is never static. fixed should work!
You can actually follow people instead of adding them and they will show up in your list.
Great vid 👍
I get dive bombed by enough other ppl, I don't need to put myself in a practice session with Verstappen
Ctrl and - will shrink the UI, so it's almost gone
Any advice on stuttering?
Change the main frame infrastructure in global radiation settings
@ thanks 4ag

@ I’m a little confused, you said iracing ignores something in windows and process lasso so I can’t use it… can’t use what?

Thank you very much Marian. I never knew about it. For me as a rookie to iracing and racing in general it was very helpful🤍
