Having the same issue now w/ 2000 Monte Carlo I messed up replacing the starter . L smh . Another forum says I would have to record previous DTC codes but you do you need to scan if you already know the problem . && do I need to buy a replace key from dealership or can I reset with org key ??

What if your security light isnt flashing? Mines on but not turning on and off when it pops up in the message center? It's aslo not turning off

Great video , I always watch your diy videos . I have an 04 Monte Carlo my security light comes on and my car won't start until after 10 mins. Is this issue is cause by the ignition switch?

what if you replaced the entire ignition and just swapped the hole thing out with another does the same security/starting procedure apply? because I haven't tried the wait ten minutes I just learned how to do that grim your video thank you by the way. but when I turn the key it flashes security.

I replaced the lock cylinder and when I went to go do the relearn process the car started right up!!! Do I still do the relearn process or leave it alone?

Hello I recently replaced my ignition switch and I’ve tried this multiple times and my car still won’t turn on and the old switch won’t work either
My mom had a 2003 impala and her key want turn the switch but the steering wheel is moving...do I need to purchase this to fix the issue
+Tiny Tn Thanks for checking us out! While this may be the cause of the issue its always best to have this looked at to see what the cause of the issue is to avoid replacing parts that weren't needing to be replaced.
Passlock sensors may need replaced also as they fail.
sorry found my own answer IT STARTED follow instructions exactly do not try to start after you let sit for each 10 minutes try to start after you turn off ignition for 6 sec then try to start and if no start leave in on position for another 10 min thanks 1aauto love your videos I use them all the time wished there were more for more models Thanks

+jonah cassidy You may want to make sure the steering wheel isn't locked. Try to turn the ignition and move the steering wheel at the same time to see wheel will unlock and the ignition will turn. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com

FYI there’s 2 T25 screws under the steering wheel. I just broke the one not shown.

However, if there was an attempted break in to the vehicle and damage was done to the lock cylinder, it's best to get a new lockset. it is not needed to remove the whole dash like this to replace the passkey cylinder...

Hey what if the security light stays on
+Michael Lee If it is a keylock pass light it may be an issue with the key or possibly a cam sensor. You May want to pull the code to see what it is pointing to. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
so you can just swap out the cylinder/key with new one and the housing that holds assembly to the dash is all the same. I thought if the cylinder/key needs to be replaced it also needs the housing part replaced also because of the pass lock shit won't be correct?
Our replacement ignition is a direct replacement for the factory one. It would replace the original one.
Buy the way 1A,tell them to shut the doors or the test won't work!

I hate GM's passlock system. It horrible and unreliable. Its causing my 2001 Impala to not start sometimes because the security system is being triggered. I took out the ignition lock cylinder and cleaned the passlock contacts with contact cleaner so hopefully my security system wont keep my car from not starting. If it happens again I guess I will have to bypass it.

ok.... so my car got broke into and apparently the thief thought he could drill the damn ignition and use a screwdriver to start the car. long story short, he destroyed the entire assembly. I bought a used part (because in broke as a church mouse) and i've re-installed the used assembly. so what the heck do i do to get the computer to recognize the new/used part?
