  • Watch the full recording of our essential conversation on California's infrastructure and housing crisis and how addressing these two issues simultaneously might actually help our money go farther and our progress go faster.
Infrastructure across the state needs repair, with water and wastewater alone requiring $50 billion in funding. California also needs to build 3.5 million homes in the next decade, and these issues are interconnected, particularly in areas with the worst water infrastructure.
Last year, BIG and PRE-Collective conducted research highlighting this urgent issue. This event brought attention to these barriers and explored the untapped potential of strategic funding deployment. Our discussion focused on the crucial roles of developers, public officials, and funders in supporting community-led pilots that leverage federal water infrastructure funding to improve conditions in disinvested areas and enable the construction of new affordable infill housing.
