I love that "you have to cook something better than they can at home" its nicely put I rarely ever cook anything frozen, or reheated, or raw, or soggy. I only know a dozen dishes but they are pretty good. So, in a restaurant, you have a chef who is no doubt better than a home chef, you have to let them gallop, otherwise, even a home chef will beat it. It is that critical. And also because most of the time it's a actually an employee or a family member who calls for Ramsey
4 года назад+19
@Samir Dončić True. Also, because many see it as promotion. They don't expect Ramsay saying it as it is but walking in, smiling, saying it's delicious and cashing in. Many don't even know Ramsay has been working in UK as cook for ages, they take it as some sort of TV celebrity and make the call to get celebrity endorsement. Note that many of them truly believe the problem is in the customers and not on themselves.
The father tried to smear his own daughter's character to Ramsay at the beginning of the episode. " She's stubborn". Turns out he was just projecting his own personality onto her
Andrea and her husband still own the Hitching Post! Just doing a quick internet search, theyve modernised it with a website and even might have seasonal dishes. So happy to learn this so i felt like posting it for others to know
That's something I don't get... so save money, they go to frozen and processed stuff...and their patronage drops way off. Sure, you save money in purchasing...but then your clientele disappears because the food sucks. Spend a little more, buy it fresh, throw out what you don't serve today, and watch your dining room get over-crowded. I can buy some processed, frozen crab cakes at the grocery store and microwave them myself...why do you think I'll spend $20 for them at your restaurant?
So true, but I can see the other side also... no customers and you start freezing shit to save money... and then it all goes down the hill after that... I guess the best thing is to buy stuff and be prepared to actually say that item is actually sold out. And next day buy more of the things that sold out and so on to get a feel of what you need to buy and after that it will start rolling... but the downhill slope had already started when Ramsay comes there (otherwise he would not be there also)...
Alexander - Food ordering is not exactly that easy. You have to take in a lot of factors - Time of year, weather, Year to Year comparisons, etc. Lots goes in to make sure that you do not run into waste. I wish it were that easy to just order more, but its always better to say its sold out then serve shit. I used to do food orders for places I worked at.

I love that "you have to cook something better than they can at home" its nicely put
I rarely ever cook anything frozen, or reheated, or raw, or soggy. I only know a dozen dishes but they are pretty good. So, in a restaurant, you have a chef who is no doubt better than a home chef, you have to let them gallop, otherwise, even a home chef will beat it. It is that critical. I just love the way that was put. It is respectful of average non-chef people, and it is true.
Are we gonna ignore how Gordon fucking Ramsey visited people's houses and asked them to cook meatloaf? 🤯
@@Kitsune16-r4h LOL. No, that was a boss move. I’m a reasonable cook but I do reheat in the microwave the next night….cooking from scratch 7 days a week I just can’t do anymore. Cooking for approximately 50 years.

What I don't understand is why do these people call Gordon if they won't even bother to listen to his criticism.
Cause that's how a TV show works. Imagine watching Gordon entering a restaurant and everybody instantly does what he says. The show would be 15 minutes long.
And also because most of the time it's a actually an employee or a family member who calls for Ramsey
They want the free renovation
Usually it’s either the staff or the people that want to change to happen that call him to get his help and the managers never know until he shows up

Every single kitchen nightmare episode ever:
Use fresh food and cook it properly>>>>Wah-hey! We're making money now!
Thanks for the info!

the owner's job is to find a chef who knows what he/she is doing and get out of that person's way. An owner's (or manager's) job is to clear obstacles so that the people with actual skill can do what they are good at
