Oh boy! I have had a trigger thumb on the right for three months. I use a plastic splint which is great. CMC arthritis in my left thumb. I was a crochet enthusiast for years but no more. Have been doing your exercises for three months. Thank you for explaining these conditions.
I have erosive osteoarthritis and trigger thumb. I’ve had two steroid injections that helped but don’t want to do anymore. I’m really considering trigger thumb surgery but have concerns snipping the base pulley will make my arthritic thumb more unstable. I’m doing a lot of the stretches and massage on your channel. Love your videos!!!!!
Hello, I watched all your videos about trigger finger. I put splint two days ago to prevent clicking of the finger, but after I removed it, and tried to see what is happening, it was worse. I realised that when I use my finger, or carry something heavy in that hand symptoms are better, there is no clicking.. If I do not use finger (while sleep for example) clicking is worse. What is going on?
I am a little perplexed. I had CMC surgery about 4 years ago. And now I'm having trigger thumb pretty severely. I feel at times if I try to straighten my thumb it will break. I am also hypermobile and I'm wandering if that's the reason I have issues again? My hand therapist could feel too much stretching during therapy and we stopped earlier than most would. My pain is on top and bottom of the base of my thumb.
Hi, do you happen to know what is the cause of persistent redness at PIP joint middle finger? I have a good range of motion with no sharp pain. Occasionally I feel pinching feeling when I straighten my finger and burning feeling.Usually feel good in the morning and progressively get worse throughout the day. Is this a cause of synovitis?
I had surgery on my thumb fusing the last thumb joint to the first wrist bone. Since then, I cannot bend the tip of my thumb without holding the second joint in a bent position or by placing my hand as open as I possibly can face down on a hard surface. Why?
There can be many reasons for this such as a length discrepancy of the FPL tendon, perhaps due a thumb deformity that developed afterward, or scar adhesions from the surgery. Seeing a hand therapist or hand doctor would be able to determine exactly why.
How can you get more webspace between your thumb? Is there a brace that will help? I already had triggerthumb/cmc surgery but my handspace is shrinking. So I hope there is a splint or brace
There are web space splints but if not made correctly they will not work and in fact with overstretch or put too much pressure on the ligaments in your thumb MP joint (middle joint). The key is to work on the foundation of the thumb. Seeing a hand therapist could help since you had surgery.
With the thumb arthritis: If I didn't have pain there and after an auto accident I do (hands impacted by the gripping of the steering wheel) could that cause arthritis? Is it reversible with proper care? I'll check out the link you mention about it. I need to find if my auto insurance will be able to pay and talk with my chiropractor who is doing wonders (unjamming my wrists (which has help elevate pain .. but getting back to full time mechanic or light work hurts or reinsures it))
I care for my severely handicapped son and the trigger thumb has caused pain and restrictions. But $97 dollars?!? I guess I'll keep looking. I lost my insurance to stay home and care for my son. I'm trying to find something natural that works but i don't have $97. If i did I'd go to my DR

I really liked the drawings on your hand.
Thank you! It definitely helps see what's happening inside!

Do you have a program for trigger finger and arthritis since I have both in left thumb?
I have a program for each of those but I do not have one that combines them together because that is not as common.

Mine is worse after splints too 😢
Thank you, it's so interesting ! Is there a link between rheumatoid arthritis and one of these conditions ?
Ooh you gave me an idea for another video! They do share some similiarities with RA but they are different.
@@VirtualHandCare Thank you !

There are many reasons for this. I would definitely see a doctor.
Does thumb arthritis has anything to do with cholesterol levels ??
I believe there are some studies that show a correlation between cholesterol and arthritis or how it can be a risk factor.
I believe i have trigger thumb, but it is on the topside of thumb not the bottom.
What does CMC stand for?
CarpalMetaCarpal joint
Is it common to have both cmc arthritis and trigger thumb? Thank you
I wouldn’t say it’s common, but it can happen!
I have both conditions in my dominant right hand.

Something might have been injured due to the accident. You may need a diagnosis from a doctor or trained medical professional.

How about thumb CMC arthritis vs. Carpal tunnel syndrome?
Yes! This is a good one! Thumb arthritis can definitely irritate and narrow the Carpal tunnel space.
