Big fan of Pete Rose . Let me share a short story about Pete. The Fall of 2008 Pete was at the Forum shops in Ceasars Palace signing autographs so I stopped in and purchased a picture of him and Pete signed it. The first thing Pete says to me who do you like this weekend kid. I was at South Point Monday night and ran into the Krackman at the coffee shop and had a great 5 minute conversation with him , Krackman is the real deal . Gil your 2 best weekly segments at Vsin are with Krackman and Fezzik .

I was a Lawyer/ Gambler sitting at my NF NY Bookies Steakhouse when the Phone rings and Eddy says pick it up Will. Sure enough it was Pete Rose. He and I both certifably crazy and equally degenerate shared a few quick stories while we waited for Ed. He said I know your an Umpire- honestly do you not think Expos get more calls than any other NL Team. I laughed. Eddie showed up. He bet Cubs 1000, 2000 and 3000 for Weekend Wrigley Sweep. I did the same.

I remember years ago Pete talking about how he never drank alcohol because it would hurt his batting eye and timing. Interesting that was also a lie, apparently.

Keep in mind he is getting second hand information.
I am not saying Pete did not drink, I have no idea about that.
He may have been drinking, but maybe not beer or anything hard.

People that knew him sat he never drank. See yesterday's interview with Tony Perez. It's easy for people to talk about a dead guy...who can't defend himself..

He was known at the Sahara lounge as Cook E. Jarr and the Crumbs.

8:25 There's not one murderer in the Hall of Fame, so why even mention that? Pete Rose used that statement as well, and it's just an emotional comment to get people on his side that just isn't true. 10:00 Just because the sportsbook is right there, that doesn't mean the game is saying that MLB is saying their players and managers should be betting on the game. Please stop twisting this around to make this appear that Pete didn't do anything wrong.

Actually YOU are the one putting a twist to it all.
He said early on that Pete betting on baseball was wrong.
What you and others fail to realize is that the original rules included not to even
be in association with a gamblers or a gambling establishment.
These were also a big no no.
Now, MLB has broken that rule themselves, or I got a hunch they altered the original rule to
make it look like they are not breaking their own rules on gambling.
Why do you think no pro team of any sport had had a team in Las Vegas all these years?
Both the NFL and MLB are breaking their very own rules, that is why people are upset
and say they are being hypocrites.
Pete was punished and deserved to be, but even a person convicted of murder gets
to return to society and in some cases return to their old job.
Pete's punishment does not fit the crime, it never did.
The White Sox were paid to throw the WS games, Pete placed bets on his own team in regular
      season games to win.
      BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!

@@curragh4635 Do some research on that story. There's no evidence (and specifically no dead body) that he killed anyone.

@@BrightStone-production I have not twisted anything around. Pete is not the victim here. He put himself in this situation. He kept himself in this situation for the entirety of his years after his baseball career afterwards. He denied it for years. He blamed everyone but himself. He uses Bart's death as the reason he didn't get reinstated. Rule 21 (d) (2) is what you fail to realize. The others and me can clearly read that rule and make no misinterpretation about it. If you want to condemn baseball for what they're doing now, then stop watching it. All I'm doing is going by the rule that Pete Rose broke, and where the punishment for breaking that rule is clearly written. I'm not twisting anything around with rule 21 (d) (2).

@@roland7584 No you are twisting words buddy, you said, "Please stop twisting this around to make this appear that Pete didn't do anything wrong."
That is your own quote right there.
Nobody is saying that what Pete did was not wrong.
What is trying to be said he has been punished long enough.
When he was alive, Pete was not asking to return so he could manage a team, he knew he was never going to manage or have that type of effect on baseball.
All that is being said is, Just lift the ban so he could be eligible for the Hall of Fame.
I guess you should be doing a happy dance and go dance all over his grave since the man is dead now.
You got your wish, he was banned for life, that life is over, so are you happy he was not allowed to be in the
Hall of Fame while still alive?
