Thank you so much for making this video Edward! We were debating on using all that fancy Schluter stuff for our main bath tub! This looks like the way we are going for sure!

Hi Edward it's me again :) I hope you don't get tired of my basic questions... I'm not a contractor or anything related, just an ordinary person learning from your videos. Again I've a couple questions for you if you don't mind
1 - What is the reason why you leave a gap between the fabric and the shower tray?
2 - This is not related to what you were showing. I see that you have cement board in the walls. I saw already green drywall being used in the same places and also saw people using green drywall in the entire bathroom except in the shower area where they used cement board. Can you help me understanding what are the differences and when one should be used in place of the other?
ps: By any chance do you have the videos of the steps before this one? Placing the shower tray, placing the walls, etc. Maybe you could do a series of these :)
    Thank you!

Hello Nuno, No worries about the questions, just keep in mind that sometimes it takes time to respond.
Let me try to answer your questions,,1- I left a gap with the fabric just to make sure that it doesn’t wick up water. The gap could be 1/4”. Even though the fabric was waterproofed as best could be, there is no reason to have it touch the base.
2-You can use any type of backer for the shower other than any type of drywall. We use cement board because its stronger over time and it works for us. Green drywall can be used anywhere where you feel you want to use it. Its a better mold resistant other than regular drywall.
A video is actual on the drawing board for a complete install of shower water proofing and installing the pan. Stay tuned and we will slowly post more videos when the opportunity presents it self. It is very difficult to make videos and keep up with production.
Nuno, our videos are just suggestions and showing how we do it. Remember, the videos we make are not what you have to do. They are only here to help, no more, no less.
Thanks for watching, stay safe and healthy and happy holidays.
