I just found you and love your stuff. Any chance I can see the end result of this project? I'd love to see your creativity with the glazing process, thanks for posting!!
Great video. I'm an art teacher too. I'm interested in the guide you have at the top of the wheel. Where did you get that? I think my students could use it.
I found a picture online and then put it in Word and added the stages titles and names. I used boxing tape to laminate it to the wheel. Most have stuck through the years, but If I do it again I would actually double side laminate the paper before taping it on. Or you can get self laminating sheets at Walmart that shouldn't leak as easy. Water does eventually leak in and mold. Hope this helps!
How are you drying your pieces to avoid the slip cracking? I have only tried this once and was not able to avoid cracks. I was probably drying too quickly.
tigma12able I made this in our damp season so it just naturally dries super slow! If it was in the dry/hot season I would have placed it between 2 taller pots and put a bag around them all for a few days, checking on it and loosening the bag in small degrees. The taller pots will take the weight of the bags so the bags don’t alter the slip. Also, using thicker slip will help it crack and shrink less quickly. Good luck!
mokachino26 I’ve never tried it on greenware because I would imagine it would crack because the wet would be shrinking and the dry would not be. Also I think applying the slip could create shock in the bone dry clay. But I say try it! Do some experiments and see if it will give you your desired effect!
great video! thank you! I just did not get it, why you used a funnel to fill the syringe!? put the plunger down and just suck the slip in by pulling the plunder up! That's what I do :)
I was having that problem today with a slip trailer bulb, it would now and then have these little 'burps' (like your explosions). And I filled it just this way by pulling the underglaze into the bulb, so the only trapped air was what was in the bulb as the suction began. It's not possible to have a total vacuum in the bulb or the syringe. So I'm not seeing how this is an absolute cure.
I love how you explain exactly what you're doing (especially on the wheel), during the whole video! Very important for a newbie like me!
You may use the cake decorators' icing bags and tips to squeez out slips on clay piece
Great video! I love all of your commentary on every little detail and why you do certain things.
Then I will keep them comin! Thanks for the feedback, it helps me know I'm on the right track :D
"It's a matter of physics, people." (Grin) I'm in love!
Mistaria Spellsinger weeeell if you love me then I obviously love you! 😂 thanks for watching!!

@@MissLinneaLark Do you know what words you searched for or where you got them? i'd love to use in my classroom.
@@KatetheskateStudio I looked and looked for that photo, but I made that years ago... I found this: www.pinterest.com/pin/34128909665441875/
Love the pajama pants! (I remember that day...)
Aaaand there it is. It was a spirit day. people! lol
Before I try this can you tell me if it will work with a handbuilt piece? Thanks so much.
I’ve had kids do it on hand built pieces with success! Good luck!
Are you near the west coast? If so you should be a demonstrator at Clay Con West! I know people would love your personality and demonstrations.
Lisa Keeling oh my goodness, you are so sweet! I would love that! I’ll have to look into it!!
Hello, does this how to prepare slippage with natural clay work?
It should, dirt is dirt! :D

Marina Vern you are a wise woman 😂 I can’t wait to try that once I’m off corana-quarentine
@@MissLinneaLark this should help with your air bubbles too

I came to add the same tip, just insert the syringe in the slip with the plunger depressed then draw up the slip. No bubbles!
veriy nice
Thank you Dharmendra! Your kindness rains down on my like sunshine
And that way you won't get air bubble explosions.
I want you to have a happy day too :D
Ha ha, I'm glad to know I didn't totally creep everyone out! :D
