I ALWAYS await whatever you have next. Though typically I don't go for geometric designs I thoroughly enjoyed the concept and results of your "fan" design. You always share good information with high production value and we always look forward to your next post. Many thanks!!
That is so sweet of you to say. Jim is in charge of the videography and he really works hard to make the videos professional. I am always on the lookout for projects to experiment with and hopefully they will inspire people to get into the pottery studio, haha. thanks for watching.
Hello, when I read about using slip for decoration in books most talk about deflocculating it. Is it because you’re using porcelain that you don’t need to do that or screen it? Thanks for all the great info
I guess it all depends on what clay you are using as to how to prepare the slip. You are right that my porcelain clay is so fine that it really slakes down well using just water. With the immersion blender, it really does the job of making it nice and smooth. If I had a clay with some grog in it or maybe a heavier clay stoneware or something, I may have to handle things differently. I have a love/hate relationship with my fine porcelain. It can be a pain to handle and it is more expensive, but for my uses, it works the best and is worth it to me
Hey Jeannie. Yes, After I did all the slipping and carving, I let the pieces dry completely. I then bisque fired them to cone 04. Then I glazed and high fired them to cone 5 with a 5 minute hold. Thank YOU for watching
Do you use to have problems when using a different clay for the slip than the one used for the piece to which you will apply it? What do you look at to make sure that there won't be any incompatibility? Ty
Hi Ann, May I ask what brand of laser level you have and what you like/don't like about it. I think I'm in the market for one but don't really know where to start.
Check the link in the description - I really like this one - it was fairly affordable and seems durable. Nothing negative to say at this point! GOod luck!
Your detailed instructions are phenomenal and the videography is FABULOUS! Thank you!

The white and clear definitely makes the designs pop. That iron stone glaze was cool too!
