  • In this video I take a tristar raptor down to the receiver and then show how to put it back together. They are very simple, easy to work on/clean, and this one has been very reliable. Tristar youth model in 20 gauge.
    In the video I mention a Remington, and I meant to say 11-87 but mistakenly said 870.

    I can't thank you enough for this video. I bought a gas operated gun today. I took it to the range to break it in as it is brand new. I did not even realize that the gun(Akkar Churchil 220 Gobler 20ga) is gas operated. It had problems cycling as I was using target loads. I had to dismantle it and I got screwed 😵‍💫. I had no idea how to put it back. There were no video for that particular gun. I had to give up putting it back until I find your video. You saved my day 🙏🏻

    Great Video!
    Just to clarify that model is actually our Raptor model, the rubber o-ring should be semi-permanently mounted in the barrel ring forward of the gas ports. The o-ring should NOT be mounted on the magazine tube like a Remington 1100. Proper procedure for removing the receiver pin is from left to right and reinstall from right to left, otherwise you risk damaging the hammer pin tube and clip on the trigger guard.

    The bolt handle won't come out.

      @murphyfirearmstraining3630  Месяц назад +1

      @get_it_done4580 never handled one of those, but most semi-auto shotguns you push the carrier so the bolt goes about 1/3 of the way back and it will pop right out. When you push the carrier back and the bolt goes back also, if the bolt handle slides in a groove in the bolt this trick will work.....

    I removed the bolt handle, but the bolt, bolt holder, and spring won't come out. It looks like the gas piston is stuck. Have you heard of this issue, and do you know of any solution to this?

    • @murphyfirearmstraining3630
      @murphyfirearmstraining3630  2 года назад

      Without seeing the gun it would be pretty tough. But a lot of these guns are tight, sometimes you will think it is stuck and you just have to wiggle it at the right angle. I have not had a bolt get stuck on one of these.
      How is the spring and gas piston stuck? They should slide right off of the magazine tube after removing the barrel?

    • @SergioGonzalez-we8cq
      @SergioGonzalez-we8cq 2 года назад

      What's stuck is the gas piston. It doesn't slide off the magazine tube.

    • @murphyfirearmstraining3630
      @murphyfirearmstraining3630  2 года назад

      @@SergioGonzalez-we8cq that shouldn't happen. Did you take the o-ring at the end of the magazine tube off? If so, the piston should very easily slide off.
      Did the o-ring get stuck under the piston maybe?
      I would twist and pull the piston towards the back of the shotgun to see if I could free it up, maybe using something like wd-40. The gas piston should move very easily and freely. The only time I have seen it stuck like that is when the o-ring got rolled underneath it.

    I have cycle issues with mine even after the break in. Have you heard any fixes for it?

    • @murphyfirearmstraining3630
      @murphyfirearmstraining3630  2 года назад +2

      I would start with:
      Is your tube very clean, smooth and dry for the piston to cycle?
      Are your gas ports in the bottom of the barrel clear and clean?
      A lot of folks will get a little piece of wad or dirt in their gas ports and have cycling issues, or their tube will be dirty and slow the piston on cycling.
      If both of those things are OK, there are a few fixes, but they require modification to the gun. You can enlarge the gas ports, but need a machinist drill set for that as you only want a very small increase. The other thing that helps some guns is to leave it locked open so the spring stays compressed for a long time, sometimes that loosens them up. I would try that first.
      Finally, you could take a coil or 2 off the spring, but I wouldn't do that unless you only intend on shooting really weak shells all the time.

    Whats the lever for on the front the trigger guard ?

    • @murphyfirearmstraining3630
      @murphyfirearmstraining3630  9 месяцев назад

      That is the carrier latch. It is the equivalent of pulling the trigger but doesn't fire the gun. On this gun if you have the tube full but no shell chambered the carrier will not pick up a shell because it thinks there's one in the chamber. Pressing the carrier release allows it to pick up a shell when you pull the bolt rearward. I hope that helps.
