Always disconnect the battery when you work on a steering wheel if you don't want a little surprise from the air bag haha. But great video man! - Sorry just saw that you disconnected it. My fault! Even better video then. Safety is really important when you work on a car!
I have a 2008 Jetta with multifunctional steering wheel and I would like to change it with something newer like the one from 2010 Jetta,is it plug and play?
hi, sorry to disturb! those new buttons you added... are coming connected from factory, or you did the connections before this tutorial ? thank you @@ERAutomotive
Did the right side buttons automatically work? I didn't even see him plug anything else to the steering wheel. I have a 2014 Jetta Mk 6 with an android head unit, I wondered if the extra buttons would work in general let alone with the android Head unit.
The right buttons did work right away And they aren’t for the radio so no they won’t do anything for your android radio They are for controlling the cluster
@@ERAutomotive really? Do the signals not go to the head unit at all? The Android head unit I have has an option to reprogram buttons. I was thinking that it would register on both the cluster and head unit. I might have the cluster switching with every click but the head unit programming registers as doing something else so both actions take place. (Idk if that makes sense in text it’s hard to explain)
@@ERAutomotive Instead of the $30 Part I'm going a little balls to the wall. I got a GTI Wheel with both buttons and the Paddles. (I know I'll probably need to program those with the VAG or something along those lines) I Need an airbag but other than that Ill update you when installed.
I have a 2011 jetta . I wanna do the same thing you did to your car and get that flat bottom wheel.. so any mk6 or vw beetle steering wheel should work ?
U have no idea how much I appreciate your reply !! So another words I can buy a 2015 jetta steering wheel and install on my 2011 mk6 jetta ? ? Thats what I'm about to buy rn if you say yes .... 🤞
@@sammypluto9249 you Might need to change the multi function unit under the steering wheel if you do that though. It’s not an expensive part or hard to replace

Very cool! How do all the steering wheel electronics (buttons) work without having to connect any cables between the steering column and the wheel?
They are connected

Yeah I get what u mean
I’m not sure you would have to try
@@ERAutomotive concidering the part is only like… 30$ I’ll give it a try anyways. If not at least it’ll give my steering wheel a more balanced look

That’s the blinker arm and cruise control arm correct? So if you just pulled that off 2015 with the wheel and transferred you should be good 2 go?
Does your horn work?
Thanks
Great job man
Thanks!
