- The Match Cut is an incredibly powerful, creative and subtle technique in film editing. And I love it. So much so, that in fact I spent about a month of my life making a video about it. You are welcome!

No f*cking way to forget you next time I see match cut! :D Great video, Toni!
Also, I teared up at just that brief clip from Up, really exemplified the power of the technique 🥺😭
Yessss, welcome to the club haha!
That entire opening sequence is just fantastic.
I wanted to make a stupid joke but I can't - you rocked my world. The shower match cut had me. Bravo Tonio
Hey, stupid jokes are always welcome here. It's half of what I do!
Tony your editing is off the roof. I'm glued every single moment. Currently taking a class in History of Cinema. I love your channel, so glad that I found it!!
Thank you so much! I was literally deep into editing the next video and your comment came in the perfect time to hype me up lol

Great, as always. You have a great sense of humor. Your videos always charge me with positivity. Thanks! 💛🎞👍
That's so nice to hear, thank you! Happy my bad jokes are landing with at least one person!
Found you from your post on Reddit. I learned so much in this brief video, you gained a new subscriber! Your ability to succinctly explain something while showing your humor and personality is great, can’t wait to see more from you!
Thank you so much! That's really nice of you to say and the best compliment I can ask for.
Already working on the next video, hopefully you stick around for it!
the thumbnail is cool
Very nicely put together! Great jokes and great knowledge! Loved the examples in the end 👏🏻
Thank you so much!!
What a brilliant video essay! I love making match cuts when I edit, and I love this breakdown. Your animations are so cool. The use of animating text and having it appear on the screen and point to things is so so pretty and engaging. I adored all the examples of media you used, such great examples. You really cover all the ways match cuts can be used. Match cuts are so visually appealing. I particularly liked your point about how match cuts can show not tell (titanic is a great example), or can be used metaphorically (people like sheep is fun). Such fun ways to use match cuts meaningfully. The funny cuts to you watching movies were great.
This is such a lovely comment, thank you so much! Happy you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this great video!!
Thank you! Happy to hear you liked it!
I don't think I've noticed an audio match cut before.
Yeah, it usually flies under the radar, but it is so satisfying when you notice it.

0:50 😂😂😂😂😂
Great video !!! what's the movie at 4:16 with the pigs ? It is one very interesting metaphorical match cut
It really is a great metaphor. It is from Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times" (1936). And thank you!
Enjoyed the video. What's the movie at 1:25?
Happy to hear! It is from The meaning of life (1983)
@@TonisFilmClub Absolutely hilarious film. About half way through one fish (in a tank) says to another "they haven't said much about the meaning of life yet".
There's so much to enjoy in all of Python's films - the hilarity comes so fast you could watch one 50 times and still find more.
