One man's voice, with only a lyre harp for accompaniment...and this, which some might call "simple" music, reverberates to the very soul of those fortunate enough to listen.
Wardruna and Einar Selvik is the best of all time. Our Norwegian culture gets the respect it deserves with this incredible sound , i dont even know how i can describe it 🫶🏼🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴
Ever since, and I swear to you this, believe me or not. EVERY SINGLE DAY I wake up, ever since finding Wardruna, Danheim, Jonna Jinton, Munknorr, Heilung, Eivorr, Skald, and a few others - every time I wake up now, without fail I have a random song from these artists playing in my head. Usually until I go to sleep again and the whole process begins anew. This is not a curse, but definitely a blessing!!!
Einar and Wardruna is helping me grieve over my marriage dying. Thank you, Einar, and Wardruna!! The different versions of this song will play on loop at my funeral as my boat burns!!
The more performances I see of Einar the more I get impressed by his music. It's so great to see how he means what he sings. Truly a great person, was glad to meet him in Berlin last week. And i would so appreciate a Blu Ray of one of his performances, it's simply perfection.
I've listened to Einar/Wardruna so much, I can hear them/him in my head without the CD playing, Einars voice is very calming to me. Thank you for sharing this.
Honestly when I listen to this, I feel absolutely every single emotion run through me as well as our ancestors calling out through their triumphs and failures telling stories. So powerful what music can make you feel.
Meh.. if you're impressed by the Vikings then you've to read about Bengali and odia raiders and explorers who explored, sometimes raided and traded with South East Asian nations. Also Cholas
There also this case where a Bengali Nagwanshi prince led a naval expedition into SE Asia. According to Chinese records Bong (Bengali) prince Luck-lom of Naga vamsa landed in Annam (south Vietnam) defeated them in a small skirmish and married their Annamese princess Auki. This led to the foundation of Nagwanshi branch of SE Asia. Source: History of Bengali Language p.28 by Bijay Chandra Majumdar.
My favorite band, this is my grandmas account. But I'm from washington state u.s and a huge part of my ancestry is Norwegian Welsh. This music pulls my heartstrings
You know what's beautiful? Fact, that's he doesn't need much to touch our hearts and souls - just his voice combined with a sound of instrument and you're instantly in another world, a mystic and beautifully magical world. A better one. I hope I'll be able to experience this journey someday. I'll look forward to it.
It was a wonderful concert in Heidelberg last week. Lindy-Fay Hella has a very unique style of singing. The way she moves on stage fascinated me from the first second on.. ..
Chills reverberating throughout my very soul. Einar's music whether it be as Wardruna or himself or any other project is always a religious experience for me.
I don't know how to say it with the right words, but I want to try: Your music inspired me to learn to talk and write Norwegian. It reheated my once burning love for nordic mythology when I was a child and even if I won't understand every word you sing, it still calms me more than any other music I listen to on a daly basis. Your music did something to me, that no other kind of music did to me, and it is this wonderful feeling of belonging to this world. Right now I'm saving money to either get my own tagelharpa or viking lyre, or at least I'm trying. Hilsen fra Tyskland og tusen takk.
Yesss, today I am a happy man! Just purchased a ticket for Einars concert the coming February. Again set in Bergen,Norway (which I'm proud to call my hometown),he's gonna perform in the towns great medieval stone-hall,Håkonshallen,and give us the beautiful Skald-album live.Really mighty sound in there, and INDOORS. (Although I'm sure Einar gladly would perform in a snow storm...)
What i love about this is obviously the music iteself and the guys amazing voice. But i love how the crowd stays silent throughout the whole time hes playing. You can tell he is touching all of their souls
Elnar, your music is one of the most important if not the most important element of our great and legendary culture men like you will bring greatness to our people once again.
I used to love hearing stories of famous Vikings, and the Gods from my grandma's when I was a kid. My mom was uninterested, so my grandma's eyes lit up when I took interest. I always favored the story of Bjorn more than Ragnar, but to have lived, and fought by their side would have been an amazing thing.
If Valhalla actually existed the thought of seeing Grandma again would be amazing, I miss her she was such a nice lady to everyone. Always wanted to visit Sweden with her, where she was born but never had the chance.
