My late mother was in UC Berkeley's Nutritional Sciences department. Even in the 1960s, she steamed or roasted veggies (usually from our garden), made French Press or Cold Brew coffee, added fresh berries from her garden to our plates daily and eschewed margarine, Crisco, seed oils and Sodas. She also said the low-fat/high carb trend of the 70s through 90s was not healthy. Thanks, Mom.

Have you heard of Dandy coffee? It’s the only alternative I’ve ever tried that actually taste like coffee, but it doesn’t have any caffeine.
It’s so good. It’s got dandelion chicory and what other other thing I can go look if you need it. on top of all that it’s like instant so you just add it to your really hot water or milk or whatever. I’m telling you if you give one more thing another try give this one.

I'm my mother's caregiver, and she loves it when I boil 2 small sweet potatoes, 1 potatoe, 3 pieces of celery, 2 carrots, and a good size chicken thigh. I add some Olive Oil and a little Sea Salt. I put the ingredients in a blender and make a puree, adding a hard-boiled egg in her bowl. I drink the broth it makes, which is delicious. I will start giving the broth to my mom on the side. Thanks for the info!

Gonna order Eat like a girl. I'm amazed that even though I know a LOT about nutrition and what this body likes, I learn a whole LOT more from these videos. Also curious about the Menopause Reset, since I've been in that zone for nearly two decades. Only recently in late 60's, have I started to put on a lot more belly fat, that doesn't go away, so far, no matter. I'm nervous about long fasts, cause I don't want to lose any more weight. What do you say to women, whose weight is fine or even a bit light, but who still collect belly fat, sometimes after coming off a fast.

So what about frozen broccoli and cauliflower? Wouldn’t the best option be to steam using the smallest amount of water in lidded pot? I also usually add a touch of butter or olive oil to water before adding the veggies so it turns into a light sautee. Just a thought for those of us that do not always have fresh veggies on hand.

I pressure cook my veggies for 1 minute and use Chicken Bone Broth as the liquid. Then the liquid is an appetizer after the veggies are cooked. I often roast the same veggies after pressure cooking them. I use a Ninja Foodie which has a tons of features like pressure cook, air fry, roast, etc., and I believe has a ceramic coated pot inside.

I've been trying to eat more raw vegetables and remembered how often I love to make and eat Japanese-style curry. I realized how often I was boiling most of my veggies for the day by doing that. I recently had a thought though, if all of the water is being used for the curry surrounding the veggies would that would still be nutritious? From what you said, it sounds like it is! So maybe soups and curries are the way to go if one REALLY desires that texture lol. Thank you for educating us!

The 2023 article claims that "the calcium (Ca) and iron (Fe) content of all cooked vegetables, except for carrots and peas, exhibited an increase." How is that possible? You take vegetables that contain a certain amount of calcium or iron, and then cook them without adding any more calcium or iron, and their calcium and iron levels go up? Where do the additional calcium or iron atoms come from?

I am glad to eat vegetables raw it that is the most nutrient dense way to consume them. I guess, I am wondering if cooking vegetables for a few? minutes might make them easier to digest? Dr Mindy i read that if you chop up broccoli in tiny bits (even blend) and let it rest for at least 30 min (some recommend up to 90 min), it releases more sulforaphane. So if you want to eat it cooked, less than 5 min (stir fry or steaming) there would be quite a good amount left. And for roasting they recommend to add mustard seeds.
What is your view on this? Thank you 🙏❤️

@@wendyrelatiestvbroccoli typically requires only 2-3 minutes in a pressure cooker (steamed at high pressure...I highly recommend a WMF pressure cooker).

Hi there, make the best decision that aligns with your goals. If you are concerned about products (drip coffee pot), contact the company and ask how it's made (plastic or bpa free plastic or stainless steel, etc). 💙Dr. Mindy's Team

OK, let’s keep it straight though. Even though you might be cooking 50% out of the broccoli it’s still gonna be better than a bag of chips.
So don’t stop cooking your broccoli! She’s saying if you want more nutrients out it cook it for less or a different way
