I did an experiment at college for a week and we presented our findings to the class. My group eliminated grains and sugars (even natural sugars and balsamic vinegar.) 3 days in I had a migraine (I expected that) after that I had cold like symptoms for a couple of days. After a week, it was like my brain woke up. I was motivated, sharp, and even more energetic. I slept so well, and my clothes were noticeably looser, yet I never felt hungry. My back pain disappeared too, which had been really bad. Some things like cashews tasted so much sweeter. I wish I'd kept it up. I'm going to do it again. Trust me, the benefits are amazing!

The body stores toxins in fat so when you burn fat the toxins recirculated through your body unless your liver has enough B-vitamins to detox. B is one of harder vitamins to get, but Doc says nutritional yeast is a good source which is just toasted yeast.

I am 65 years old and I stopped eating processed, convenience, and fast food decades ago simply because they are too expensive. I am still active and am the same weight that I was in college. Periodically, I will have a pancake, a small bowl of pasta, or a glass of wine. My sweetener is stevia or Bocha brand. Thankfully, they cost enough to keep me from being the dessert baker that I used to be. My three main sources of food are meat, eggs, and vegetables. I am forwarding this video to two friends who are in dire need of this education. Unfortunately, many of the people who receive this message will still continue with their bad habits and addictions. I appreciate you doing this. Hearing it from me doesn't help. Thank you, Dr. Berg.

Maybe for some but not everyone…me included…I only allowed approved food in my house and eradicated EVERYTHING not approved so when cravings came (usually at night), I would have to get in my car and drive to the store. I did drive to the store maybe 5% of the time. At the time, I was living with my Alzheimer’s ridden mother caring for her before she went to memory care. When I moved back to my house with my wife and son, it was not Keto proof so I had to beg them to hide and lock away the unapproved food. Eventually, they came around and joined my new way of eating and guess what? They started losing weight. Two years ago, I lost 73 lbs from my peak weight. Today, I am still at my desired weight, eating Keto, OMAD and walking 8 miles every other day. I’m also free from the 7 medications I had been taking for 20 plus years.

Basically saying, whenever you read something or watch something, don't just accept it, but question it. Critical thinking should be a major aspect of our lives from school age until we die.
Question things, analyze things, research things from multiple sources, draw your own conclusions. Don't blindly follow what someone says. This isn't to take away from the doctor's videos. He does make good content. But this will help you grow in your understanding of something, which is a good thing.

Chris here, I’m currently exorcising sugar from my diet too. Started with candy and useless sweets, and has now shifted to coffee. Just getting used to it without sugar is a challenge some days, but I feel like the dividends will be worth it in the long run. My nutrition journey and this mission to improve my diet are a direct result of me realizing I was suffering from erectile dysfunction. At a fairly young age too. Seed oils, processed foods and sugary snacks and carbs as s diet for years. My physical lifestyle and military history really mean nothing. I’m dealing with years of cellular abuse, who knows what else and it’s probably going to take years to restore function; if at all .. I don’t know. What i do know is that I can take control of whether or not to ingest sugar. Because ultimately, I believe it’s the ultimate catalyst for disease, this is just my opinion for me. Don’t give up and Good luck everyone.

I was ~250 blood sugar and 13.9 A1C, I got real skinny and couldn’t absorb anything. Was always tired. Everything broke down. I started puking and discharging blood and my mouth was dry and legs were cramping.
The doctor gave me an insulin pen, but I didn’t want to depend on that long term. So I completely changed my diet like Dr. Berg recommended. I found him after doing some research.
Now I haven’t had any sugar for 18 months now and completely reversed 20 years of sugar damage. I wish I could go back and tell my teenage self to avoid sugar. Never going back to sugar or processed food.

Hi Dr. Berg, This is a great explanation. I’m an RMT and a Functional Medicine Nutritionist. My patients sadly in Canada are unable to ask for their fasting insulin to be done. It’s always HbA1C. Sadly, this will not reflect an insulin resistant scenario. Our system is one of show symptoms first vs. preventative. An ND can often order, but patients pay a premium for the test “privately”. Also, when patients have a higher allostatic load, we will often see higher fasting insulin as a factor that shows their body is struggling metabolically. Poor hydration and a higher fasting insulin with low fibre intake is an internal time bomb. Chronic pain is also worse with a higher fasting insulin amongst other factors. Thank you for providing this information in such a clear format. You are an educator. It’s critical to for people to hear the sugar story.

Monk fruit is the most natural choice. I'm using allulose because it won't absorb by my body, but it has a very low safe max consumption. Sugar alcohol is not the best sweetener choice, go with monk fruit.

I'm working on transitioning into Keto and sugar free foods entirely. It's difficult to change everything but so far I'm doing great! I hope you make videos more specifically to foods and brands to help keep going strong!

This video really made me rethink my whole diet and really want to get my diet in order. It’s truly hard because I live paycheck to paycheck and it’s hard to afford a healthy diet. That’s one of the biggest reasons I eat all this junk food because I just don’t have the money to eat right all the healthy food is so much more money. I’d truly love if you could do a video on healthy food on a budget. Thank you truly for sharing your knowledge and opening my eyes. I wish you all the best stay awesome 🙋‍♂️✌️

If you are addicted to sugar, eat some fat or protein when you feel cravings. All of a sudden, you will feel too full to eat it.

I stopped using sugar, and trying to avoid every product that has even small amount of sugar and I can say it was the best desicion ever. I only eat fruits when I want something sweet and I have lost 4kg and all my belly fat.

I mostly cut out sugar 5 years ago. Aside from a particular craving at times, I cannot eat this stuff. It'll end with a terrible headache.

Ppl miss this last point. Sugar is bad period. But some sugar is worse than others. Just bc there's sugar in fruit, doesn't mean that that sugar is not going to cause you problems, bc its not the "bad sugar".
