Suggestions for Whit if she does this style again or anyone else ☺️ You don't have to burn your ends! You can seal them with hot water! Also, if you want you can put curlers on the end as you dip them in the hot water and they'll have cute little curl to them when you're done if you're interested in that. Most importantly dipping the twists in the hot water gives them movement immediately. So even if you prefer to burn the ends still dip your hair in hot water and you'll have movement! This video was awesome though! I'm so happy to see Whit experimenting with protective styles where you add hair! I usually get mine done at the shop if I have to have hair added, but maybe next time I'll try it myself!
Nap you are such a perfectionist. There have been YT tutorials on Marley/Havana twists for 3-4 years. But yours actually look like your own twists when your hair was longer. This is the most natural looking I've ever seen. Maybe it is because you combined textures/combed them out and then moisturized the hair. The sheen is spot on.
omg what a great video! so I'm guessing this will last a few weeks and then as far as maintenance it'd be a matter of just keeping my scalp oiled and moisturized?
Hey Whitney! (Love that screen shot girl, gotta share this on my Google+ page lol!!) I, like countless others have been waiting for this tutorial since that FB post and Yippee Yay here it is, oh I love twists! "Yaaassss" lol I crack up whenever you Ladies of the Tube say that, lol!!! But yeah you can not give up on your dreams we need you, your fabulous hair, winning personality and crispy clear visuals, lol!! ...alright enough yapping and on with the video ( I was talking about myself of course, lol) you can do a 15 minute yap intro and it's fine by me, lol!! Ok pushing play...I like how you're putting your new table to good use. Okay this is new I haven't done synthetic hair in a long time and when I did it was always a 1.99 pack of Kanekalon and I let the salon put it in, I would have never know you can add hair crèmes or butters to weave...man there's so much weave out there Marley twists, Havana twists, Cuban, Cubana-hana Nights Twists, lol and it looks so real, I really have to get some! I seen this method once before from Carmen of MyNaturalSistas and it looks like the best way to install your extension twists. I can't wait to try this, I love protective styling but when weave is added, it just means I can really leave my hair alone. Oddly enough I don't mind the 10 hour installation, I have a ton of patience and because it takes me around the same time to do my micro mini twists once a year. What a cool technique, I can't wait to try this, I might not get it on the first try but just like flat twisting practice makes perfect. Oh this is just too pretty and fabulous, my mouth is open, like I wish that was my hair right now, lol...they look extremely real Whitney, well done girl! Another A+++ Top Notch video and tutorial, thanks for sharing and have a wonderful upcoming week everyone : )
+Naptural85 Wow your hair is beautiful can you please tell me how do you get your hair to grow sooo long and thick I've been natural for 12yrs and I cant get my hair as long and thick plus healthy looking as yours would you like to send me some tip through my email!!!!???
Thank you so much for your tips on washing the Cuban hair with apple cider vinegar, and putting shea butter on the hair. I have a wig with a texture that's very similar to the Cuban hair, and wearing a rough itchy wig all day is no fun! Thanks to your tips, it's no longer itchy, and the hair feels softer; more like my natural hair. In fact, it blends so well with my natural hair that people think it's mine :-) they want to know how I grew my hair out!
I do these twists very often and I can tell you that it gets quicker each time you put them in. I would say to NOT spray a lot of water mixture on your natural hair before installing the twists, as that can promote mold growth because the hair can't really dry quickly twisted up (also, if your hair is fine and curly like mine, it can be harder to install the twists on damp hair because the synthetic hair keeps falling out :P). And PLEASE, ladies, keep moisturizing your natural hair while wearing protective styles! Speaking from experience, you do NOT want to have more breakage while protecting from breakage :)
Oh come on! This is genius. I never thought of washing the synthetic hair. This is a great idea because that hair is ITCHY after just a week. Must try!
Happy you're enjoying the video!! For my Favorite Fall Lipstick Combinations check out my new video on my other channel! ruclips.net/video/vd5rMwLMDVQ/видео.html Xo! ❤
I live the way you do your hair. Is very different and is with care and time. Will surely redo my twist before Christmas. I been busy with work and studies.
Whitney, I don't know how to put into words how much you inspire me on a daily basis. I look forward to your videos because you have such a positive energy. You've taught me to love my hair and the tips I need to keep my hair healthy. You are a strong black woman who sets such a great example for the black women around you. You use your platform to advocate for black women and black girls, and it is truly uplifting. I appreciate your love for the things around you and I appreciate what you have taught me as a black woman.
HELPFUL TIP: Instead of using a lighter to seal the ends, just light a candle. You can do it all at the end or one by one but it's soooo much quicker because the flame is just right there. :)
Just want to thank you, you're an awesome teacher. I SUCK at doing my natural hair which is why I paid a professional to install my marley twists. I was actually going back in so she could reinstall the few that have slipped out over time.. but after watching this video, I went into the bathroom and tried to reinstall one twist myself and bam, I did it! I think I'll cancel my retouch appointment. :) THANK YOU!
Lord. I've done twists twice, thought I knew stuff, and then watched the first 5 minutes of this video. I will be moisturizing and combing out the hair next time I install! As usual, your information is so helpful!! Thank you!
Thank you so much for not giving up Whitney. This is why we love you. Your twist look so amazing, makes me think I might be able to achieve this now, even though I'm style challenged lol. Great job and love this look on you 😊
This looks great on you Whit but I must say, with love of course... doing the natural method at the roots just to end up burning the ends of the hair doesn't really make sense. The whole point is for the twist to look like your natural hair from roots to ends. I'm sure someone else has said it already, but next time you try this style just simply curl the ends around small sized perm rods and dip in boiling hot water. Actually, I'd suggest dipping a 3rd of the length into hot water in order to soften the synthetic hair and make it more flexible. I remember the African hairstylist always doing that to my twist and braids back in the day. Besides, this is winter time, those burned ends are going to pull the heck out of your sweaters. Again, I give this bit of advice with love =}
I'm white why am I watching all these twisting videos?! It's just so interesting to see :) I feel like a kid watching someone do something she has never seen before. So much admiration for the patience and effort to make all these hairstyles ! And it's interesting to see the difference in treatment of black hair as well.. my hair already gets greasy after two days so I'm doomed if I apply any oil into it myself :/
Gosh, I love how simple you make things sound and look, Whitney. You're very good at explaining things clearly and thoroughly! I'm definitely gonna give this a shot!
This has totally changed my mind about protective styling I had no idea how simple it could be! Well, once you get the technique down.......girl you killed it!
+Carefree Maya This. I stopped bothering with people who I know braid too tight. You grow up hearing that you're "tenderheaded" when the real problem is that black hair can't just be combed through with a small-toothed comb like a rag and you should be gentle to avoid unnecessary breakage. You learn when you're natural and doing your own hair, but most black women still don't get that (especially the older generation).
+Zanya Carey you got that right, since I got natural I learned how to do my hair. I didn't like to comb my hair as a relaxer, but ever since I became natural, the interests of taking care of my hair awakened. sometimes is hard to deal with, but is very satisfactory to be able to say: I did it
I remember seeing this style on Instagram! I've successfully worn havana twists twice within the last year, but it was by braiding. Seeing your demo REALLY helped because the first time I tried years ago, it was horrible. I'll let you know my results soon!
you explained and showed how to twist better then anyone I've watched so far.. I've given up soooo many times lol but once i get my money right I'll try again 💕💕💕😍😍
thank you! This is late in coming but you're the only person who effectively explained to put the hair OVER and twist. now my twists don't fall apart! :)
The first time Whitney put the hair in her head to make the twist, I said I didn't understand. Lol Immediately after, Whitney said she would explain in detail. Great job Whit! It looks really pretty!
I'm so glad you mentioned the washing the hair in an ACV rinse. Whatever synthetic hair coated with drives my skin crazy. I just learned this recently. Thanks for the video
This tutorial is giving me LIFE! I may dare this - gotta get that technique down though!! OK, now for the nightly maintenance (pineapple, tie up, etc.), spritzing anything on the twists (even though you've prepped the hair wonderfully)...love love love it!!!
lol I remember the first time that I did my Marleys it took me like 5hours!!! Now,I'm down to 2 hours,or an hour and a half for the really thick ones. Once you get that rhythm going,it's SO easy. Great job,Whit 💛
After seeing this might have finally give this style a try!It always looked to complicated to do. Love how your videos make these kind of styles more simplistic far as how-to do it.
OK.. why would anybody not like this video. You're just awesome! You gave me confidence to do my own braids. Looks so easy and the best part, I can save so much money! Thanks
I'm too afraid to burn the ends. I'm such a klutz I'd be the chick who set herself on fire. You can seal the ends by dipping them in boiling water? Right? Hmmm setting my head on fire or getting scalded....the latter seems more survivable.
Yes, dipping the ends seal. When I usually do this, I don't do anything to the ends and they stay just fine. However, if you cut it its better to burn or boil or even put a rubber band. Sometimes, I even just wrap the ends like they do on the faux locs.
I've seen so many other videos but this one is PERFECT! Thank you SO much. I plan to do this for the first few rows around my head on crochet braids so that I can pull them into a better looking a ponytail.
You always have a twist to our normal. Whenever you post a vid that seems average, I know you have a twist to it. I love this, you did a stunning work Whitney.
It's been a minute since we've seen you in a longer protective style; You taught me how to do kinky twists!! They were my go to style before I decided to loc. Your twists look fab!
Add water and oil (almond, coconut, olive, any one or all!!!) to a spray bottle that's empty and lightly spritz morning and night. You can also get a pre-mixed braid spray at the beauty supply store. Also wash hair with installed twists with diluted shampoo when necessary.
When I first started twisting/braiding my own hair I struggled with the back, too. So I started braiding those in. Only braiding about half an inch down, combining the 3 strands into 2 then twisting as she instructs.
this video is so awesome. I just made an appt to get marley twists done. I was frustrated last time I did them myself end ended up braiding the hair THEN twisting....but I'm inspired to give it another shot. THANK YOU!
Welcome to the club Whitney! Lol. This has been my go to style every fall/winter for the past 3 or 4 years. It's a great load off my shoulders not having to worry about my hair each morning or how to style for the week and stuff.
This will definitely help me inprove my own marley twists skills. I just used black/purple marley hair to do braids on my hair for the first time (since I was horrible with kanekalon). I love using marley hair, so I can't wait to try twists again.
Love it! I'm watching a lot of techniques. Including the rubber band technique for beginners. But I think I'll try this one. I never thought to prep the hair like this either. Great idea!
These are soooo pretty! U make it look soooo easy! I will definitely try these as soon as I get off work today! I LOVE everything you do! Thank you so much! You're still my hair Shero! Without your make up on, you look 14! With your make up, you look 21! You go go! Simply Beautiful!
I put in Senegalese twists the day before Thanksgiving and there was alot of sweat n tears. Took me 3 days to finally get the look I was Goin for. I was so close to giving up but I'm so thrilled with my results. they look so natural. Wish I saw this tutorial before tho! would have saved me 2 days lol ugh
This look is EVERYTHING!!! You are radiant 💛🌻 thank you so much for always inspiring me. I've wanted to give my all to RUclips since high school! Your videos have always been helpful and invoke an overall good vibe!! I'm finally living my dream making RUclips videos!! Thanks again 🙂🤗😇
I can't wait to do a protective style. First I have some Holiday Hair Videos to shoot then I'm getting a trim. By January I should be rocking some twist

im as white as it gets but i LOVE watching these videos because the things that black women come up with are so beautiful. i love this type of hair.

are there any other ingredients that go in the apple cider vinegar bath or do you just let it soak in apple cider vinegar? For how long?

I was going to ask the question regarding installing on damp hair or dry hair because a lot of tutorials say to not wet the hair.
I never wet synthetic hair while installing due to statement you made about mold/mildew. Never thought to wash the hair before installing.
Oh come on! This is genius. I never thought of washing the synthetic hair.
This is a great idea because that hair is ITCHY after just a week. Must try!

I've been watching you for years under my mom's account. Over the time you've become a household name in Black America. I'm so proud of you Whitney!
aleady know how to do the style but i still watch bc i think Whitney is awesome 😊😊😊

"No, Whitney! Don't give up on your dreams!" LMBO I love your channel!
Thank you for the tutorial and thanks to you and your family for brightning my day when I'm having chemo! You all are so awesome!
this is stunning you are a wizzard I wish I could do this ahaha
I can its so easy but time consuming I tried this last year they came out good and very natural looking but my flicka da wrist killed me
This has totally changed my mind about protective styling I had no idea how simple it could be! Well, once you get the technique down.......girl you killed it!
Whitney I wish you could do my hair. Any time I go and get someone to do my hair they're just not gentle. 😭
I wish she could do my hair too!! Lol
I like to see Whitney work with hair. People who can't do hair, like me, appreciate others who make everything look so easy!
+Carefree Maya Learn how to do it yourself then. Best decision I have ever made, just like Whitney, only myself deals with my hair.
Omg Whitney, those look so good on you
I want you to keep this style forever. . you look AMAZING in this style. If I could do it with my hair, I would.
you explained and showed how to twist better then anyone I've watched so far.. I've given up soooo many times lol but once i get my money right I'll try again 💕💕💕😍😍
thank you! This is late in coming but you're the only person who effectively explained to put the hair OVER and twist. now my twists don't fall apart! :)
I love how natural they look! xx
Wow this protective style suits you! I usually rather you with your natural hair but you look soo gorgeous in these twists.
OMGGGGG Whitney, you out did yourself! Yassssssss!!!
This boho chic look fits you so well, thank you for going into such great details!
Its really fun to see you playing with more makeup Whitney!
Super cute twists.
The first time Whitney put the hair in her head to make the twist, I said I didn't understand. Lol Immediately after, Whitney said she would explain in detail. Great job Whit! It looks really pretty!
Yesssssss! I have been waiting for this tutorial! You make me want to get them! You look so gorgeous with them just as you do with natural hair!
Hey +Kandy Kane ! Thank you so much! You should get them, they're so much fun! ❤❤
***** I am so thinking about it!
I'm so glad you mentioned the washing the hair in an ACV rinse. Whatever synthetic hair coated with drives my skin crazy. I just learned this recently. Thanks for the video
XoXo! Thank you +MoNATUREnique !! I'm happy you liked it! ❤❤
Havana + Marley = Harley Twists! :-D
This tutorial is giving me LIFE! I may dare this - gotta get that technique down though!! OK, now for the nightly maintenance (pineapple, tie up, etc.), spritzing anything on the twists (even though you've prepped the hair wonderfully)...love love love it!!!
You are the natural hair queen😍😍
lol I remember the first time that I did my Marleys it took me like 5hours!!! Now,I'm down to 2 hours,or an hour and a half for the really thick ones. Once you get that rhythm going,it's SO easy. Great job,Whit 💛

Thank you +Freedom Styles !! ❤❤❤
After seeing this might have finally give this style a try!It always looked to complicated to do. Love how your videos make these kind of styles more simplistic far as how-to do it.
Love! Can you shoot a vid of how you maintain these for 4 weeks?
OK.. why would anybody not like this video. You're just awesome! You gave me confidence to do my own braids. Looks so easy and the best part, I can save so much money! Thanks
i clicked that notification so fast😂 love it 💜
XoXo!! 😊😊😊 +Kamari Jackson !! ❤❤
The one time I attempted to do my own braids, that prepping step saved my life and made this so much easier 🙌🏾
I'm too afraid to burn the ends. I'm such a klutz I'd be the chick who set herself on fire. You can seal the ends by dipping them in boiling water? Right? Hmmm setting my head on fire or getting scalded....the latter seems more survivable.

"No Whitney! Do not give up on your dreams!"
You always have a twist to our normal. Whenever you post a vid that seems average, I know you have a twist to it. I love this, you did a stunning work Whitney.
Whitney, you are truly amazing!
Xo! Hi +faith robinson you're so sweet! ❤❤
I'm finally ready to do these myself, and this is one of the videos I'm using as a reference. It's very clear and easy to follow.
you inspire me so much!
Great explanation of how to do this!!! Thank you, can't wait to try it!
Really need to learn how to do my own hair 😩
Natural Hair Goddess!!! Love this!!
You should start doing makeup tutorials *heart eyes x100*
It's been a minute since we've seen you in a longer protective style; You taught me how to do kinky twists!! They were my go to style before I decided to loc. Your twists look fab!
How do you moisturize your natural hair while in the twists?
Add water and oil (almond, coconut, olive, any one or all!!!) to a spray bottle that's empty and lightly spritz morning and night. You can also get a pre-mixed braid spray at the beauty supply store. Also wash hair with installed twists with diluted shampoo when necessary.
@@anydae shampooing would make my natural hair fro right up. 😞
Smh I've watched so many of these twist videos and I still got excited when I saw this. lol I love her.
"No Whitney! Do not give up on your *dreams*!"
XD
I have tried, and given up, so many times to do twists on myself or my daughter. I am definitely going to try again. These are so pretty.
Any tips on how to do the back of your head?
When I first started twisting/braiding my own hair I struggled with the back, too. So I started braiding those in. Only braiding about half an inch down, combining the 3 strands into 2 then twisting as she instructs.
+Brittany Hudson okay thank you.
try a double mirror setup and tilt your head. when my arms are tired I lean all the way forward. almost upside down.
Sometimes I tilt my head forward, almost upside down and twist "up" towards the top of my head. It seemed to work a lot better.
As soon as I was going to ask about why you combined them, lol you answered it. That's pretty clever and they look amazing
I did a similar style only its crochet
+KLC Baby Nice!! ❤❤
+Naptural85 I'll tag it to you on Instagram
+KLC Baby how long did it take you to do the crochet?
+nikkicole54321 it took 45 mins ... I'm impatient so I went for a quicker style lol

What is that white thing with bars that she's using to hang the prep'd hair sections?
+Latronda Marie It's a drying rack. Usually for laundry or towels.

Welcome to the club Whitney! Lol. This has been my go to style every fall/winter for the past 3 or 4 years. It's a great load off my shoulders not having to worry about my hair each morning or how to style for the week and stuff.
Literally have been trying to do the invisible method and was going to give up until I saw this video!! Super helpful Whit!!
Yes Whitney, you look beautiful with those twists.
This should go under your protective hairstyle playlist
Best Havana marley twist tutorial I have seen. Thank you!
This will definitely help me inprove my own marley twists skills.
I just used black/purple marley hair to do braids on my hair for the first time (since I was horrible with kanekalon). I love using marley hair, so I can't wait to try twists again.
Love the invisible method you did, its looks so natural Whitney!
Looks fantastic! You post the best hair tutorials!
Beautiful! Loving the hair Whitney!!! But also and nostalgic and loving the old school clothes drying rack. LOL!
Nice job Whitney! The chunky twists look really good on you!

You know, sometimes its not the video. I just like watching and listening to Whitney talk about stuff😀
