Today we're doing a QUICK natural hair protective style, the Jumbo Box Braids, installed using the "Rubber Band Method." I'll be showing you how I do this method in a GENTLE way, using safer materials to prevent my hair from breaking. I hope you enjoy! XO! Nap EDIT: I used 3 packs of hair for this look!! 💗
Naptural85 . Hi I have been wearing my hair natural for quite some time and I plan on keeping it that way. My is very curly and gets dry a lot. what should I do about it and what products are best used for it? Right now I am using shea moisture shampoo and conditioner with the deep treatment. What should I put on my hair after deep conditioning? Any advice?
Kiara Williams you should search in this channel for the deep conditioning video, that'll tell you what to do.....also just try not to manipulate your hair too much after you moisturize it!
OK SO..... I want to start off by saying this is NOT a trolling comment. I love this channel and what it has done for me and many others on their NH journey. However I will say I tried this technique and there are a few things not mentioned that may help others attempting this style. 1. We all have different hair types so if you have a more coarse texture, 2 stran twist the left out hair to prevent frizzing. 2. The clear rubber bands do prevent breakage, BUT are also very fragile and will break if you don't use more than 2 of them. Several of them broke after I installed the braids and were a headache to pull out. 3. BE CAREFUL when putting product on your hair. MAKE SURE you are not using anything flammable. Even oils can catch fire if the flame is too close to your hair. 4. This hairstyle is not a good idea if you work out often or sweat a lot. I say that because if you wash your hair your roots will no longer blend with the hair. Anything that prevents someone from washing their hair I don't recommend. 4. This took several hours to do including washing ,blow drying, sectioning, braiding, trimming hair that would stick out along the braids, using a lighter, and finally dipping the braids in water. Overall the style is worth it depending on your hair type. For more coarse hair Marley hair might be a better choice if done correctly. These are just a few tips that might help out. 💜 I also want to say to new naturals...this comment is really for you. Not everyone has the same texture so keep that in mind when watching natural hair videos. If kanekalon hair doesn't blend with your beautiful texture don't be discouraged. Not all hair tutorials have the same results for everyone. Im not a cosmetologist or a "guru". I'm just a fellow natural black woman on this journey as well trying to help .
PLANE JAIN thank you ssooooooo much for the comment seriously .. you brought me back to reality bc me and what have totally different textures .. I’m like 5z 🤪🤷🏽♀️. Thanks
PLANE JAIN thanks so much for the info. I have that courser type hair and I use yarn now when I braid, but next time I'll try the Marley hair. Tips were extremely helpful. Tfs
Great tips! I was watching thinking there’s no way my hair would stay in those braids, two strand twisting is a great idea. Never considered the oil thing!
Love this information. My eight year old neice look at these types of videos for her hair, how educational. She even advised me on a particular hair oil either for length or thickness. Amazing
It's good to see you're recovering well from the complications from your pregnancy! Wishing you and your beautiful fam, heaps of good health and happiness in the future. You're doing a beautiful job Mama!
If you’re scared of using rubber bands for your box braids, you can let them sit in a bowl of your favorite oil while you’re braiding your hair. This will reduce the friction of the rubber bands, as well as nourish your scalp
I did this over the weekend, and it was SOOOO easy! Thanks so much for showing us. I've been wanting to put my hair in a protective style for MONTHS now, but I can't stand how expensive it can get, plus i'm really leery about letting people touch my hair, so that was perfect. Once again, you're a life saver, girl :)
one thing I've learnt from braiding is that, if you split the braiding hair in three equal sections and attach your hair equally to those sections, it makes the braid smoother and reduces the bumps. It takes a lot of patience to learn this method but it makes the braid a lot smoother and long-lasting
Nope. And, it makes me feel like I missed out on an integral part of my Blackness. I can't jump double dutch, either. I can turn without clapping, though.
gosh your hair is soooooo healthy and easy to part. Mine is like dry fried grass. Parting with my fingers hurt enough, using a comb is probably something I will dream about in my next life. You look gorge though
Hey Jessica! Check out my aloe pre-poo!! ruclips.net/video/nqZnPvzv4gQ/видео.html Doing that for a few weeks should fix your dry hair issue!! XoXo!! 💗💗
I have to say, my hair was super dry but I started using the aloe vera prepoo technique about a month and a half ago and my hair loves it! So much moisture! Whitney rocks!
YES!!!!!! The queen is back! This is SUCH a cute look, most braided looks i find intimidating b/c my braiding skills are not up to par but I actually feel like I could attempt this and not look crazy!
This alternative method to regular box braids is amazing!!! I definitely wanna try this instead of going to any unprofessional braiding hair shop where they charge a very hefty price for something that i can now do at home so thank you Whitney!!!
This tutorial gave me the inspiration to try it out. I have no girlie skills. Can't cornrow, flat twists are fuzzy, straightening takes way too long, etc. This took about 5hrs, but the result isn't terrible! If I can get 2 weeks out of this it's totally a win. Your videos have been so very informational and helpful, thank you.
I just tried this method last night and let me tell you for a someone who's never done this before it was sooooooo easy. Thanks Whit for helping us natural girls out. You were the first person I found on RUclips when I decided to go natural. Thanks you for everything!
Using a good edge control before snatching your hair to tie in elastic bands will make your parts look neater and makes my braids feel more secure....I finally did this last night and my hair looks so much better than usual. Great video, thank you!
meant to thank you for this video this past 9/11...my diva (daughter) always has me do her hair and i hadn't done braids for her in a couple years so i reviewed this one because of it's simplicity. and as usual i ended up making the braids smaller but still hours faster than i use to do her hair (thank you rubber band method) and it was done just in time! (the night before) She went into labor and delivered the next day (i just knew she was in labor the night before, i was clocking those "no, i'm okay" contractions ruffly every 10 min)...anyway she too was high risk and had been at our home last couple weeks to be closer to hospital. delivered that 8lb+ baby 10minutes after she arrived. so i came back to thank you for this video....and now to try it on my hair using some product line called Melanin🤷🏽♀️😎❤️❤️
If I hadn't just started on mini twists again (halfway in) I would totally go with box braids!! I love this style. When the mini twists are out I'm giving this a shot. My problem has 100% been the root issue and this could solve that! Thank you!! ✌
Seriously you are super mama. I'm not a mom nor do I have a busy schedule, yet I can't come up with such amazing and easy hairstyles. You are truly wonderful Whitney! Thank you for such a great style. I'm going to do them this weekend.
I need to get some of those clips you use in your hair and that Rose water. I think the style came out good and seems much more affordable than going to a salon.
Thank you!! Yes!! The hair is super inexpensive and this only takes 8 hrs tops to braid! (And I'm a slow braider...) Definitely can be done at home!! 💗💗💗
Naptural85 Glad to see I wasn't the only one that tools several hours... It was a weekend project for me 🙈 and I only have 25 braids in my head! 😩😌 The one thing I'll do different is use the Expressions hair! I used Bobbi Boss "non-flammable" and they're already whisker-y, lol
Just1Me Rayanae The Xpression hair is a lot nicer and easier to use than the cheaper ones, but Bobbi Boss has a similar one called Xpress or something that's also good. It doesn't tangle a lot, so it saves time.
Finally, a hair tutorial that does hair the way I think, practical. You will be the reason these braids get installed in my daughter's hair tonight. Thank you. Mom/Student/Short-on-time/Three Daughters. Thanks!!!
Aaaand I'm done. Braids look fantastic but I did go with the black rubber bands since I have zero luck with the clear ones that insist on popping from the force of my huge hands. Thanks again.
I LOVED this. Your voice is soothing, your explanations are clear AND you showed how to incorporate the hair at the roots so simply!! Best how to video I've seen for this style!
Nice tutorial Naptural!! I brought my daughter the same hair for her jumbo twists & it is very very long...I think it comes in like 86 inches if I'm not mistaken...maybe less but ridiculously LONG!! Very affordable & has a natural hair feel to it too, it holds moisture as well!! This style is so NICE & very easy!! I dont know how to French braid & I don't like crochet braids....This rubber band method is SO perfect!!! I'm protective styling all winter & I'll be trying this style next!!
I got my hair! I got the clear rubber bands! Already had edge control! I'm going to rinse the hair in vinegar tonight (watched your other vid) and I'm going to install my sexy jumbo braids on Sunday! I'm so excited! Hope I can do this! If I like the results I will post it on IG and tag you!!
@Naptural85, thank you for the excellent tutorial, using the rubber band method made doing this protective style so very easy. I am not a braider and plaits are what I do best, so I love this. A lot of the clear rubber bands broke the same night I installed them but the braids remained intact. Thanks again and keep making these wonderful videos. Blessing!!!
i swear i did the rubberband method last week but with smaller braids. I have a hard time grabbing my roots as well. I swooped it to one side and added gold clips...received so much compliments. thanks for sharing your technique. 😊
Whitney you've done it again! Braiding my own hair has always intimidated the HECK out of me- thanks for making this style accessible (and beautiful) to those of us who are new to box braids. You always come through, girl! Glad you're back and doing well 😊
Idk if anyone else has already commented but those same rubber bands come in black and other colors as well! I do love them...I use them on my kids hair as well as mine!
Thanks for this video. I never mastered the traditional technique of a braiding style with added hair. This gives me hope that I can do my own protective style. This also takes away the fear of letting someone do my hair and is rough and causing breakage.
Just tried this method on my daughter's hair! It was so easy! She loves her hair. Mos def doing this again. Saved big dollars and time! Thanks naptural85 !
My 10 yr old daughter learned how to braid like this by watching these videos now she braids mine and im so excited because i have an inhouse braider 😂😂
This looks so wonderfully simple, wow! It's perfect for me too, because my scalp hates long term protective styles, so I'll pay for box braids only to remove them like 2 weeks later. Being able to do this myself will save so much time & money since I can't leave them in long anyway. Thanks Whitney & congratulations on the new baby! ❤️
it may be time-consuming, but it's so easy. I do my hair as a stress reliever, so I like to take a lazy Sunday and use the whole day to just wash, stretch, trace, and braid. the whole thing takes like 12 hours, but I have very long hair and it is usually shorter for most people. and that's why I appreciate jumbo braids so much, because with my hair length and thickness it might take a full 24 hours to do smaller braids.
wow this is so cool what a great idea. when i was younger i always bought the expression hair to get my hair braided or cornrows. after 2 days just taking everything down cause it was itchy like crazy. recently on youtube i saw a girl wash and moisturise the hair to get all of the chemicals out and it worked. no itching and i had boxbraids for 4 weeks. after that i had bald spots because it was so tight but now im deff going to do this. Tfs much love for the netherlands :-)
I have been watching your videos for about 6 years and u always make me smile. I love how you come with this tips on quick and easy styles. I'm never disappointed with your content so thanks for being authentic and humble in RUclips community. Congrats with your beautiful baby boy Theo 😃☺
Watched this today and decided to try it. You made it look so easy...of course mine look nowhere near as good as yours, I did it. it was my first attempt and it was because of your instructions and encouragement for natural. Thanks 😊
Hey Girl, I'm not mad at you for going sponsored, or kicking the big named brands to the curb. I've been following you for 2+ years and you literally saved me and my hair. I feel the plus side to you cutting them loose is now you can do your own thing without being manipulated or threatened in any way. Honestly, I think you should start your own branded hair products and open a nationwide black styling salon (and or beauty school) based on all of your ideas. There are plenty of Sistah's who just can't get into the DIY and would prefer to head to the salon. Also, even though they claim to be All Natural" most of those over the counter products all have chemicals added to them if for nothing else to preserve longer shelf life. Just wanted you to know that I just love and respect what you do. Your loyal 4D hair follower.
I'm going to try this. Every one always looks so cute with these box braids! For me it doesn't matter big or small I always look like Felicia from Friday 😫 something about them doesn't match my face lol but I never seem to get discouraged from tryin
Lol! I feel you.. I have a weird shaped head too and can look a little odd in braided styles, but I don't let that discourage me! Do it!! Got one life to live! 😆😆💗💗💗
This is genius. My hair is super soft though so I might still just use the black bands. In the past the clear ones have slid right out. So excited to try!
I did this and I love it. My roots aren't screaming Mercy. I'm tender headed and can't normally get my hair braided because the pain from my roots. But this was simple and easy and I was able to band the roots and braid the hair into jumbo braids. Perfect for work. Thank you again P.s. I also passed on using gel and my edges turned out smooth anyways. Definitely use the twisting butter. Worth every penny
Installed these yesterday and I want to say THANK YOU because I have no plans to go to my braider in the midst of a pandemic. My only negative comment would be that those Proclaim rubber bands are not sturdy. And if they pop after installation, they kinda stick out and look kind of weird. Other than that, I am so freaking happy, this will be my go to protective style for summer/fall/winter...I'm obsessed lol.
Oh wow! Your hair grew back so quickly from when you cut it short! That's crazy! My hair unfortunately has been stagnant at the same length for years.... I love how you've done your jumbo box braids. Would love to try, but my hair has thinned a bit. So will wait for it to thicken more first
This is the Only technique used on my daughter's hair which I believe is 4c..🤔..not good with types lol but it always works for protecting her hair so it can continue growing without breakage from the regular method. This video shows I'm doing the right thing!😘😃 xo
I absolutely love these braids!!! I've wanted to try some but never wanted to spend hours getting them done. I like that these are chunky but not bulky!!! Get tut 👌🏽😍
I used this method for my box braids all 3 times I've done them and love it, it does take an extra hour if you're not doing jumbo ones and if you moisturize your hair well they basically slip right off when you take them out.
I'm thinking about doing box braids for the first time ever. I have always been natural and my mother used to always braid my hair, but in middle school I started to do my own and would leave it out alot. Long story short, I went to the salon and was happy to see all my growth (even though I had tons of split and and fairy knots), it had grown from armpit length to almost mid back. Then when it reverted...i saw all the heat damage. I've been growing it out and am going to cut it in a year or so and might do this protective style, though I've never put in fake hair before so this should be interesting 😅
I just had an idea...if you used a latch hook to feed the braiding hair under the rubber band it would look more natural ??!! ...I'm gonna try it that way! p.s. I love ur content ❤️ great video!
I've never ever done a protective style (20 years and counting) because I worry about damage to my delicate hair and do not have time for all that braiding! This is something I think I can try. Thanks very much!
Can’t wait to try this! However I’m going to do it with yarn. I have eczema and sensitive skin, fake hair makes my scalp itch and feel like fire. I envy those that can use it because sometimes it looks better than yarn. But yarn is inexpensive and looks beautiful too. Thanks for the video Whitney
I'm locd now however I so enjoy your videos been watching you since 2010 when I returned back to natural you're like the natural hair guru💜be peace& beautiful family💜💜💜💜
I did mine too but not jumbo I plan on doing it before school starts !💍if anyone else is thinking about doing box braids u can do it if I can and I'm only 13!!!!
I use the black ones that are exactly like those in my boys hair. They pop themselves but never rip their hair out. They have a soft & silky like feeling. Luv this vid!💕
I wish i could post a pic in the comments...but i just did my hair like this according to the steps u used in this video. Everyone loves it! You're method was the most natural looking to me.
I tried it. My very first time in my own. I've never been able to french braid, but this method has helped a lot. I still have a lot to learn (especially about lengths of hair), lol. But it took me snout 6 1/2 hours.
I saw your IG post about the ends fraying/unraveling! I try to stay away from burning the ends of my synthetic hair styles bc they'll snag on any & everything ☹️ if you would have dipped them in the water first before burning it would have smoothed out most of the fly aways and you could have trimmed off the stubborn ones. Still looks super cute though! ❤️
Same here... maybe also making them shorter would help so there is less weight on each section? I dunno but I'm too chicken to try it on mine. Haven't had them since relaxer days ( although they looked bomb)
Oh no! I just bought the black rubber bands. I'm going to get some clear ones and try this. I need a break and this is PERFECT! Also, congratulations again on baby Theo! He's so adorable.
@naptural86 do you think this process would be the same with Marley hair and twists? I am interested in twists bc they are a little more flexible than braids, would you use the same method? I think I am going to try this (once I see how your hair is when you take them out...we are hair twins).
Michelle Rodgers This method works great with twists however, if you feel the twists will be loose at the root. you could braid a little bit and then twist afterwards. I did this video a year or so ago without braiding and a trick to make it not come out.
I think I have found new protective style!!! OMG! thanks for a easier way on installing jumbo braids because I always have trouble gripping my scalp also. I had never heard of the rubber band method but I will be trying soon!!
I love this way! Thanks Whitney! You always make it seem really easy and you always keep it short and right to the point I love it ! I will be trying very soon. Thanks for the tutorial!! Congrats on new baby! So beautiful 😍!
Hey Kitten! A few tricks, twist the hair together as you braid (the natural hair INTO the synthetic hair) if that doesn't work, you can sandwich your natural hair between the synthetic hair in the section, so that the synthetic hair covers it on both sides, that way it won't be able to stick out. Hope that helps! 💗💗💗
KITTEN MAYZ + when you get towards the end of your hair, add a little product (gel, cream, edge control) to it. I do that and twist my hair into the braid like Whit said. And just braid super slow at that section.
Hi Whitney. You look great! I hope your protective style lasts for a long time so that you can spend quality time with your babies. Also please record a video about taking them down after you're done with this hairstyle. I want to learn how to minimize breakage as much as possible if I decide to do this protective style later on. Take care! xoxo, Sheyla

Naptural85 you look so beautiful and make these styles look so easy! what is the maximum time you can keep these braids in?
Kiara Williams you should search in this channel for the deep conditioning video, that'll tell you what to do.....also just try not to manipulate your hair too much after you moisturize it!
This is how my grandma braided my hair back in the day...but we called them "Dookie Braids". 😂😂 Yes that's really what we called them in the 90's. lol
LOL you're giving away your age! LOL same here!
Moneyca S. yep. I remember my mom used to do my hair in rookie braids in the early 90's when I was a kid.
Moneyca S. my mom braids my hair sometimes and she still does it like that😀😄
Moneyca S. in the U.K. We called jumbo braids for keeping your hair neat at night dodo braids 😂
Moneyca S. yes. I wore the dookie braids back in the 80's also. Everything old is new again.
Super woman; giving birth, mommy-ing, and blessing us with bomb hair tutorials. Thanks for sharing Whitney!

If you’re scared of using rubber bands for your box braids, you can let them sit in a bowl of your favorite oil while you’re braiding your hair. This will reduce the friction of the rubber bands, as well as nourish your scalp
Or she can just use those looser clear rubber rands
That’s what I do for my daughter. I learned that from another RUclipsr.
This is a super helpful tip!
plus it starts breaking down the rubber so when it's time to remove them, they just fall apart lol
Awesome tip!

I was thinking this but I didn’t want to come off as condescending.
Facts, but for the life of me I can't do it!
I can't be the only black person in the comments who missed out on learning how to braid with weave. 😭😭😭😭
Duckduck Goose nope 🙋🏾😂
Nope. And, it makes me feel like I missed out on an integral part of my Blackness.

I have to say, my hair was super dry but I started using the aloe vera prepoo technique about a month and a half ago and my hair loves it! So much moisture! Whitney rocks!
Jessica Lang fried GRASS 😭😭😭😭😭
Why do I feel like even *I* can do this?? Gonna try in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the clear rubber bands idea! 😁

"Strong enough to bear the children, then get back to business." 🐝🐝
Whit, I'm so proud of you! #BlackGirlMagic
So, how did it turn out? (I'm not on IG). I'm still contemplating on whether I should try putting them in myself.
Stephanie L. Hey Stephanie! It came out really good. I can't believe how easy it was. I did my mom's hair after she saw mine lol
Great! Thanks for responding!
Blessing!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!!! I've always wanted to try box braids but the installation process is so long. I can't wait to try this out!!!
i swear i did the rubberband method last week but with smaller braids.
Yas naptural you better slay them braids
Min Yoonji ARMY JUST BE EVERYWHERE😄😁
Xo!!! Thanks Min!! 💗
Min Yoonji I seriously see you everywhere go ARMYs
Naptural85 How long do they last.
A.R.M.Y♡ oh my she called you Min😁😂
Just tried this method on my daughter's hair! It was so easy! She loves her hair. Mos def doing this again. Saved big dollars and time! Thanks naptural85 !
Girl....Thank you for this! With two kids I needed a style that wouldn't resort to me shaving off my hair.
This style is beautiful! I am a bit hesitant about tension styles plus I can't spent time fussing over my hair. I love this. Thank you for sharing!
My 10 yr old daughter learned how to braid like this by watching these videos now she braids mine and im so excited because i have an inhouse braider 😂😂
Ayyeeee! Best thing ever!
oh, you won, ma'am lmao
This looks so wonderfully simple, wow! It's perfect for me too, because my scalp hates long term protective styles, so I'll pay for box braids only to remove them like 2 weeks later. Being able to do this myself will save so much time & money since I can't leave them in long anyway. Thanks Whitney & congratulations on the new baby! ❤️
I love the gray hairs coming in, Whitney!
Thank you Shaunie!! 💗💗
I know they're so pretty right! I hope my grey comes in so gracefully.
Thank you for explaining what the point of feathering is. I see so many videos saying to do that but they never explain why. ❤❤
I had no idea how simple it is to do box braids. Nice video!
yes! im considering doing them myself for the first time now!
Blue Pineapples It's still nor that simple but with practice it will get better.
it may be time-consuming, but it's so easy.
You dont have to explain yourself about taking time off you deserve it enjoy your new baby
I have been watching your videos for about 6 years and u always make me smile. I love how you come with this tips on quick and easy styles. I'm never disappointed with your content so thanks for being authentic and humble in RUclips community. Congrats with your beautiful baby boy Theo 😃☺
omg!!! I am seriously thinking about doing box braids for the first time ever!! Good job on the tutorial!!
Watched this today and decided to try it. You made it look so easy...of course mine look nowhere near as good as yours, I did it. it was my first attempt and it was because of your instructions and encouragement for natural. Thanks 😊
wow this looks so easy! I can finally do my hair on my own and not have to worry about someone pulling my edges out! haha. Thank You Whitney!
Also, even
though they claim to be All Natural" most of those over the counter products all have chemicals added to them if for nothing else to preserve longer shelf life.
Am I the only one anxiously keep checking and waiting on her to reach 1 million??!
I did this and I love it. My roots aren't screaming Mercy. I'm tender headed and can't normally get my hair braided because the pain from my roots. But this was simple and easy and I was able to band the roots and braid the hair into jumbo braids. Perfect for work.
Thank you again
P.s. I also passed on using gel and my edges turned out smooth anyways. Definitely use the twisting butter. Worth every penny
This is so good for people who don't know how to braid to the scalp. For the life if me I can't braid to my scalp for shi...
Same
Installed these yesterday and I want to say THANK YOU because I have no plans to go to my braider in the midst of a pandemic. My only negative comment would be that those Proclaim rubber bands are not sturdy. And if they pop after installation, they kinda stick out and look kind of weird. Other than that, I am so freaking happy, this will be my go to protective style for summer/fall/winter...I'm obsessed lol.
Yup thanks to Naptural85 I have my summer protective style, thank you super cute.
XoXo!! Yaay!! Happy to help Naomi!! 💗💗💗
Get tut 👌🏽😍
I just love her hair and she is sooo pretty!!!!
I already considered her "Mama Natural" & now she just took the cake! Yep, Whit's the bomb!❤👏👏
She starts braiding her hair at 3:56
Lol!!! But you gotta hear about the hair doe!!! 💗💗💗 #Womp #IFeelYou #ITalkToMuch #ImagineHowMuchIeditedOut!!! 😆😆😘💗
loll thanks
Lol, I hang onto every word Whit says so I didn't mind! But thanks for the time stamp :)
LOL I never can seem to skip Whit either!
shay thanks!
I used this method for my box braids all 3 times I've done them and love it, it does take an extra hour if you're not doing jumbo ones and if you moisturize your hair well they basically slip right off when you take them out.
I love it!! It's okay... we understand family first and you have to take care of yourself
Kiki Powell let me know how it turns out
That actually sounds really smart.
I've never ever done a protective style (20 years and counting) because I worry about damage to my delicate hair and do not have time for all that braiding! This is something I think I can try. Thanks very much!
Where did u find those huge hair clips!? I need them in my life! 😍😍😍
Hey Naturalgrits7! I get my clips at my local Sally Beauty Supply! 💗💗💗
naturalgrits7 RW I found some as Marshalls!
I found some red ones at target.
Whitney, I had to watch this because 1)you know how to simplify styles for me and 2)I just love watching your content!
earliest I've ever been and Theo is so cute
Can’t wait to try this! However I’m going to do it with yarn. I have eczema and sensitive skin, fake hair makes my scalp itch and feel like fire. I envy those that can use it because sometimes it looks better than yarn. But yarn is inexpensive and looks beautiful too. Thanks for the video Whitney
Notification squad!!! AHHH! I've never been this early, what do I do?? Hi Whitney!!!!!!!! Love you!
Lol!! Thank you Beanie!! 💗💗💗
She acknowledged my existence. . . I can die in peace now
I'm locd now however I so enjoy your videos been watching you since 2010 when I returned back to natural you're like the natural hair guru💜be peace& beautiful family💜💜💜💜
I did mine too but not jumbo I plan on doing it before school starts !💍if anyone else is thinking about doing box braids u can do it if I can and I'm only 13!!!!
You giving me hope over here.
Go head, Mamacita!👌🏾
I use the black ones that are exactly like those in my boys hair. They pop themselves but never rip their hair out. They have a soft & silky like feeling.
Luv this vid!💕
don't burn the hair, it makes it rough and scratchy. you can trim them off with hair scissors.
I thought that you soak the hair in boiling hot water for a minute or so then towel blot dry?
Or...get u some kinkier hair, pre-stretched, or trim for a smoother end.
I wish i could post a pic in the comments...but i just did my hair like this according to the steps u used in this video. Everyone loves it! You're method was the most natural looking to me.
Gorgeous & super easy Whit!! 😍
Xo! Thank you NaturallyReflected! I'm happy you liked it! 💗💗
I tried it. My very first time in my own. I've never been able to french braid, but this method has helped a lot. I still have a lot to learn (especially about lengths of hair), lol. But it took me snout 6 1/2 hours.
These look great on you!!
Congratulations! I am glad that you are doing well. Thank you for this video! I am going to try this method because my roots are never tight enough.
Pretty. I did this method when I was 13 yrs old because I wanted to have longer hair
I have fine hair so I'm not sure it can support the jumbo braids, but I love it. They look really good. I may give it a go anyway. 👍😋💯😃🌷💜🌻🌴
Liz For A Day I'm wondering too! I want braids so bad but my hair is so fine and thin, I don't want to further damage it :( still might try thou
Sheena Brown my hair is the same way! I was thinking of doing smaller parts it so maybe it won't be as damaging....and make sure your is moisturized
Taylor I will try that and only keep them in for a week or so just on case
You definitely need to moisturize.
Nice how many packs of hair did you use?
Anita Ford 3
Natural Theresa How many braids in all?
Congratulations on the birth of your baby. I hope you will share some pics with us. I loved this video, can't wait to rock this style at work.
hey whitney! just wondering how many packs u used for this style?
ysmn she said 3
thank u!
CONGRATULATIONS on the baby!!! Your hairstyle is great!
Whitney always gets us together💁🏾 I love it.
How many packs of hair did you use?
3 packs
I think I have found new protective style!!! OMG! thanks for a easier way on installing jumbo braids because I always have trouble gripping my scalp also. I had never heard of the rubber band method but I will be trying soon!!
Can you do a delivery story video?
HannahZaire She did on her vlog channel, DearNaptural85 💕
I love this way! Thanks Whitney! You always make it seem really easy and you always keep it short and right to the point I love it ! I will be trying very soon. Thanks for the tutorial!! Congrats on new baby! So beautiful 😍!
my natural hair always sticks out the braid ugh
