Clough at his best on his old medium bore New Standard. No big leadpipe, no 11’’ bell, no trigger, no megatone mouthpiece, no silver plating but what a sound.... Pianists have Chopin, singers have Pavarotti, cellists have Pablo Casals and euphoniumplayers have John Clough! Never could get enough of his unique style and musicianship...
300% agree with you bassboss, he has always been my favorite Euphonium player, and his special sound what nobody else has , only J Clough In my opinion the best Euphonium player I have ever heard and seen in live performances! Amazing!!!
My favourite eupho player and biggest musical inspiration. According to John, once he established his playing, he never ever practiced after that; so for years he only pulled his instrument out when playing with Dyke or being paid.
If ' Cloughy ' had been any more laid back he would have fallen over . I have the honour of known him from a few years ago and what a character he is , and could make a few bob telling his stories that are so funny . A pure natural genius of a musical instrument but a working class lad from Bradford that joined a brass band as a kid . A legend if ever there was !
