I'm loving watching your online tutorials. They are very inspirational, bright and colourful. Easy to follow and love the environmentally friendly approach.
I love all the 3-D embellishment ideas you use in this! I love the idea of making art from trash, too. I cut up some food boxes and gesso'd them, in bookmark and postcard sizes. Now you've got me wanting to make a whole journal!
What a beautiful art journal, Jenniebellie! I love how you use all kinds of scraps and stuff that other people would normally just toss out. I am getting so many great ideas from you and also finding the courage to just start. I also love how you always look fabulous in your videos...beautiful face, beautiful work! Thanks for being so generous with your tips and techniques!
I never realized you could do sooooo many things with the scraps. It's just never occurred to me before....I used to think I hoarded and was frugal, but watching this makes me feel quite wasteful, lol. I love it.
I did a video on doing a junk/art journal from cereal boxes back a couple of years ago, but YOU have out done me by a million miles. WOW... what a wonderful project and now you have me so inspired! Thanks for sharing this!
I have no words for how breathtaking this is! I'm definitely a crafter and a pagan and I am totally going to use your ideas for making myself a book of shadows from my mish mash of crafting scraps but it won't hold water compared to this gorgeous piece. Holy cow it was just beautiful trinkets and eye candy. You truly are an artist.
I've been watching a lot of RUclips crafting videos lately, and let me tell you, Jen, yours are the ones I look forward to the most. Something about the way you present them, you have a teaching style and viewpoint about journaling and art that is very inspiring and refreshing... ...and makes the videos very fun and interesting to watch. Thank you so much for putting them out there for us. -Irene in Vegas
I just discovered you although I’ve heard Natasha of Treasure books mention you dozens of times. I absolutely love this recycled Art Journal made completely out of household goodies. Fabulous
Amazing!!! Everything you do, Jennibellie! "Stumbled'' up on your tutorial videos and now hooked :-) Have made a journal last weekend out of cereal box and beautiful papers. All thanks to you! You explain so well that all we need to do is start... Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Beautiful and very inspiring. I have been collecting all kinds of bits and bobs for years and you have given me inspiration for what I can use it for. THANK YOU.
Brilliant! Much more creative and better than some of those scrap book things I see in the stores because you are using everything and not wasting materials. Brava, Jennibellie!!
Absolutely Amazing ! I love that you use every tiny bit of the cereal boxs for tags, and pockets and tiny embellishments ! Thanks for the inspiration !
I absolutely LOVED this video... how creative and original all of this is. You've made me realize how much money we waste buying things, when we have it all right here. I haven't been this inspired in years! Thanks for the sharing your creativity!
WoW. Great idea using cereal boxes, so eco friendly. Often wondered how I could put my empty boxes to use. Thanks for sharing such a super way to create an amazing album. Will be sharing this with my next craft afternoon group.
Can't wait to try my hand at this! I save all my boxes and tons of other scraps and bits of this and that. I've been wanting to do this for a long time and I think it's getting close to that time. Thanks for sharing, Jenny.
I love this, very cute. I just bought a box of beads & such from a rummage sale this morning and now seeing this, I have an idea for all the goodies I bought!!!!
I have watched lots of your journal videos and I am so impressed! You are hughly talented and I love the recycling of cards and boxes. Of course, it is also fun just to listen to your accent. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Like it???... looooove it!!! I'm so overjoyed to final find a person who has the same thoughts about repurposeing (that's what i call using every thing for something other than it's original intent) Thank you so much for All the ideas. You are an awesome teacher and beautiful to boot! I agree with Gina, Thanks for being so generous with your tips and techniques!
Glad to see I'm not the only one who hoards packaging. Now thanks to you I will be able to find a very productive use for some of it. It gives me such satisfaction to recycle something rather than filling up our world with land-fill sites. Hugs Lynn
I had to watch this without sound, but I am going to watch it again when I can listen as well. I am so inspired by your gift of art. I am ready to try this NOW, I have been saving the cardboard from cereal boxes but have been discarding the sides bottom and top. I now am looking at the containers with my new eyes and my new learned ideas. Thank you so much for sharing.
You have one of the most beautifully creative minds I've ever had the pleasure of coming across. Thank you so much for sharing your happy madness with the world. :D
Great! Using your inspiration I have just created one for a wedding anniversary. I have learned a lot by the process. Mine is darker ( add white to lighten the paints next time!).I love it. thanks for the inspiration
This is so beautiful!! After watching this video I rifled through my recycling bin and totally had enough boxes to try this! Your tutorial is awesome! Thanks for the inspiration!
Just a thought about your paint use...by USING the paint, rather than throwing it away, you ARE recycling it! So no need to feel guilty about using your paint. One more thought...there are times when I've completed a painting and have had acrylic paint that dried up on my palette. This paint cannot be reconstituted but it can be loosened by soaking in a bit of water. When it's colors were pleasing to my eye, I've saved it to use in a variety of ways...cutting it up or using it as a piece of decor on a journal page. Maybe these tiny hints may help you, my granddaughters are very artistic and like to watch me paint when they visit. You are one of the most creative people I've seen making videos. I enjoy how you think, young lady. You rock!
This journal is amazing :) and with paint, what I do is any left on my brush instead of washing it off, I paint a piece of scrap paper, that can then be used as a back ground or anything else you want to use it for. I had been cutting the flaps off from my cardboard for journals, I think I will keep them on from now on. Thank you for that idea.
Love the journal book that you made, it came out so cute. I just made a mini photo album, doing basically the same thing. I used a recycled cracker box that I have saved for my crafts. I made a fathers day album for my bf, he loved it! Thank you so much for sharing!! Keep up the good work!
My daughter and I made this for her recycled project....we improvised some things and it came out great! Thanks....just a tip...we used a shoelace to bind instead of yarn and the tip of the lace works great!!
Dot from UK What a great way to use up stuff that would have gone in the trash. Waste no more but transformed into beautiful art with a little imagination. How cleaver of you. Thank you for sharing, I'm going to pinch a lot of your ideas. Love from Dot x
Wonderful journal. I love it. I will try one too with Jello boxes I think. Lucky person who won this one. I love using rubbish materials too. Good job and thank you for idea. Linda C.
You are so ...awesome.....What....creative...idea's.....I lol can't stop watching...and thinking of all the ....'scraps' I have and can re-purpose....Thank you..!!
WOW!!! Fabulous & Awesome Journal!! Thank you for Showing us "How To" Do Everything!" ❤️❤️❤️ Love Your Unique Creativity!! Would Love to make One of these one day!! ☺️❣️❣️
Hi there, I used the larger cereal boxes for the inner pages (trimmer to the right size for my tracker box) so yes they have some thickness to them, which I really enjoy creating art on as it's sturdy for acrylic paint. All signatures sewn in together and there were 3 signatures (each with 2 cereal box card pages, which when you fold them in half to make a signature creates the 4 pages). If you want it to be scrapbook then I'd recommend adapting it with acid free cardstock in place of recycled x
I've been watching quite a few art-journal videos on the RUclipss lately..... This one is my absolute favorite. What a blast. So impractical. so beautiful. I love it.
Ingenious! How unbelieveably creative. I will have to make a few of these with my children :) They're really interested in my bookmaking but most of my projects are far too complicated for them to join in. This, I feel they can definitely do with me. Thank you for sharing!
there is so much to learn, that reviewing all this content continues to help me see what I have, and how to repurpose it/them. thanks.and for old paint use dried bits & add to pastes and gels for texture, and 3-D mounts for other embellishments, hot-glued to them.(faux mosaic)
I know what I'm doing tomorrow now...thank you Jennibellie for a wonderful arty day watching your wonderful videos packed full of inspiration and fun ideas...I've been on here hours lol!
Loved your art journal made from cereal packets, I will give it a go myself I am new to art journaling but I am getting some great ideas from talented people like yourself, thankyou for putting it on utube. I have also subscribed, I live in Australia.
I needed to rewatch this video for a project I'm working on. Oh, my. I really miss these types of videos you used to make. This is one of my faves. I do belong to your Journal Workshops, but I would rather just hop on to youtube. Still love you, though:) xo
@britchickny thank you for the nice comment and the sub :) yes def don't throw anything - if you're creative enough (and I'm sure you are) you can always make something with it. Don't get me wrong though, I spend more than I should on supplies just like the next crafter lol. Hope you'll have a punt at the giveaway while you're there much love, Jenny
Hi, I have been planning to make an Art journal for my son who is in his final year at Plymouth Art School; a bit coals to Newcastle but I was thinking of making quite an austere journal with pockets & tags using a range of greys so that he can continue to add whatever he likes. Just loved your video.
Wow, so impressed with how creative you are with just recycled items. It's so easy to fall into the "trap" of buying something for every project. I'm going to start saving all the little bits & pieces too! (and I'm heading over to your blog as we speak...:))
I love making things with the stuff we usually throw away... this is a really good project to do with my little ones... many thanks for the inspiration... ;)
