  • Today we'll be swapping out a BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR for a Ford Econoline E-150 1988 Van 5.1 V8.
The blower motor resistor is responsible for controlling the blower motor speed. In the past, this was done by varying the voltage supplied to the blower motor. In newer applications, the blower motor resistor is actually a solid state module that sends a varied signal to the blower motor.

Thanks for the video. Both sides of the plastic connector on mine was melted. They had a kit at the parts store that came with the resistor and a new pigtail for it. $26 dollars later and back in business.

How is your sonic doing? I bought a 2014 LT brand new has 135k miles on it been having issues with it! It’s in limp mode won’t go above 30-40mph it’s at the dealership now. Also the (orange) steering wheel light came on right before towing it to the dealership. Other than that the only thing mechanically that’s been changed is the water pump it’s been a great car!
