Man, that Gary could shred!!! RIP brother. 💔💔
No doubt. I saw them once and Gary just stole the show.
Tons of tone out of Gary and that Les Paul!
Can we show some love too for the dude killing that keyboard?
Forget his name.
@@supercaptainbatdoggyJesse Harms
Neil Doughty on keys
And YES, Gary was a BEAST , his solos are some of the best in the 70's
“Ain't nobody who talks with his guitar like Gary does!”
nice reference to 157 riverside avenue
R.I.P. Gary Richrath, another underdog musical icon.
One of the most underappreciated and underrated guitarists in music history.
Some pretty fancy keyboard work going on here too !
Elliot Easton from the Cars is also high on my underrated list
It’s always seemed like the indicator of how *really* talented musicians are is how they sound live without all the magic of studio tricks. These guys were amazing. I also like the MTV unplugged series. Thanks for this!
REO was legendary for their live shows so it’s no surprise they sound great here.
@@daddymidwest4111 lol @ OP mentioning unplugged when this is a recording. The whole "acoustic is real music" was a nice propaganda in the 90s. People keep repeating it.
Gary Richwrath……Not many can play a guitar 🎸 quite like him. RIP. 🎸
Here for the Gary Richrath show ❤🎸🤟🏻🤩
Same here, miss him big time. He had some of the best solos
All that big sound from one Les Paul and amazing player
Golden country off of “You get what you play for” is one the best live rock recordings period. Gary’s guitar playing is excellent
Oh man Gary! He could and would be killing it today with that talent. Skill, tone, and natural artistic feel. When I watch him play he reminds me of Slash. LP 1959 Burst in the best hands possible. Sadly missed
You mean slash reminds you of him Gary came out way before slash and was probably a big influence on him to be honest
Not enough respect back in the day for these guys. Damn good band!
Neal and his Hammond solo on this rocks!!
They always sounded like record live. Gary was such a talent. Love the Midnight Special.
Gary Rithrath...my favorite!
Amazing tone...he was one of a kind.
Miss him!!!
If he’s your favorite, I would think
you would have enough respect
and sense to know is last name is
“Richrath”.
"He's got a long wick with a flame at both ends."
🤣🤣🤣
🤭 hahaha 😝
I love that classic r e o ! I give a big f u to the rock hall of fame not having this classic and deserving band in the rock hall ! The speedwagon rolls on !!!!! Go Gary!!!!!!! Space ace Ron ⚡️⚡️⚡️
One of the best 80s bands...talent...energy...and a lot of good songs...thanks for the video.
Also one of the best 70s bands .. RIP Gary Richrath ❤
The crowd was much more enthusiastic about this song than "In Your Letter". At least they got up off their feet.
This song is much more rockin' than In Your Letter. 💥
Well yeah, I guess that's what those people came to hear and they got a pop group instead.
@@gregoryduncan3067 For some reason your reply went through twice...anyway, yeah. That other song is like a Neil Sedaka vibe. Like an early 60s pop song. Btw, I had to watch Sgt. Pepper's last night. I forgot how silly it was, but I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. 😎😊
@@StephanieJeanneThe music was good in that movie anyway. My RUclips is all glitchy goomy today for some reason. My original post went through but it didn't if you know what I mean.
@@gregoryduncan3067 Yes, it was good. Like I totally forgot about George Burns singing Fixing a Hole. And the end scene was cool. Had a bunch of old stars and musicians singing it.
I love that phrase "glitchy gloomy."😂 But yeah, I know what you mean.
They rocked that one.. I got to see the original crew back in their hay day. They're a great live band who sounds just as good as their studio album
I learned about all kinds of music styles thanks to Midnight Special! I would have never thought I could live REO and Sly and the Family Stone. Midnight Special ROCKED
Seriously..
Those late 70s through the mid 80s were top-notch for arena rock.
Got to see reo, journey, foreigner, AC/DC, styx, U2, Genesis, Elton, VH, such fun!
The classic five. Nothing better.
These guys ruled in the early ‘80’s. Songs, chops, touring - they couldn’t lose. 👏👏👏
I like the I Love Lucy T-shirt. Great song. The Midnight Special was in its last months here so we don't get to hear "Take It on the Run"
Yep, we traded TMS for MTV ~ the world got officially meaner in 1980
this album got a lot of plays in my old Camaro!
Gary is the star here R.I.P.; don’t care much for the lead singer Kevin Cronin can’t quite put my finger on it hmmm. Looks like they’re all having a blast!! 🎉
Does he look like a witch maybe?
such a GREAT live band!
I saw REO Speedwagon for free at Pershing square in LA, they cooked!😂❤
No one was recording on their phones. It was something to remember, for sure. Legends. What a great video.
Only saw these guys once, March 21 1981, night 2 of two sold out shows in Rochester NY, they kicked ass!!!
Awesome performance! I love that song! 🔥🔥❤
Gary was in such great shape here. He was the best.
Now that was AWESOME!!!
Seen REO live many times through the seventies and a couple times in the eighties. But this is the first time I’ve seen male back up singers with them.
7 days after this aired I met the girl who'd become my wife. Great memories.
Viv Savage on the keys, ladies and gentlemen!
Such a great live performance! Love this band. 🤘
This song may be the first 45 I ever bought. Great song.
I saw them live a few months ago- they usually open with this song - it was a fun show
when bands had talent and did not need 27 dancers on stage to distract you .
This was great. I was wondering when you will post a Rory Gallagher preview clip. He was a guest in '74. Theres been a ton of ELO clips from future shows, would love if you posted a Rory clip. Thanks.
LOVE RORY!! 🎉🎉🎉
Musicianship and NO AUTOTUNE or Sampling.
One of my favorite songs from them. This is great
We used to cruise hunting beach with a cassette on my front rack of bike.good times.
how cant you like that!
Fantástica apresentação.
O ronco do Precision é maravilhoso.
I really like the percussion on this song. I don’t know if it’s an African rhythm but that would be my guess. Anyways the more I see of REO live the more I appreciate them, and it makes me wish I’d seen them live. (I went to a lot of concerts in the 80s but mostly metal so REO wasn’t exactly on my radar back then.)
It's known as the Bo Diddly Beat or New Orleans beat.
@@jakebell231Love Bo’s song Mona; QMS band does a great rendition of it.
Excellent live performance! Way better than the studio version!!!
Immensi i reo...grazie per il video❤
Love this song!!!!
A levada é a la Bo Diddley.🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Really digging the bass on this. Definitely not a loser
REO SPEEDWAGON ❤ PERÚ ❤
大ブレイク寸前の高揚感がたまらない。
Out Of Season is best tune on this Lp
Here's the obscure rock and roll question. Who are the 2 background singers off to the right?
OK, I'm gonna go with a wild, but reasonable, guess: That's Richard Page (later of Mr Mister) of the left and Tom Kelly (songwriter who later wrote hits with Billy Steinberg). Both of them had done backing vocals on the Hi Infidelity album.
I'm pretty sure the dark haired one with the beard is their manager at the time John Baruck. I don't know about the other one.
🤘 RICHRATH 🤘
That f)(king rhythm section
Champaign Illinois bred
Gary was REO and he was from East Peoria!!
All that girls want.. rich and popular :)
"He's got plenty of cash, he's got plenty of friends
He drives women wild, then he drives off in a Mercedes-Benz
He's got a long wick with a flame at both ends
He's hot"
Richrath: Hold my beer while I rip the balls off this Les Paul
いーよコレ!
オリジナルレコーディングver.より良いよ!
Started out a little rough but they got their groove an rocked it!! I miss music like this.
Michael J. Pollard on keyboards.
Actually it was Neal Doughty on the Hammond keyboards.
@@tikneshiabeauford7289 😕
lol..I've always thought Neal looks like Michael J. Pollard
Wats the word ? epitomy '........... Yeah.
Of sumthin....🤑
REO was my first album. I got You Get What You Play For as a hand me down and got HI Infidelity when I was 9, lol!!! I know em by heart, totally underrated band, they had some good tunes. Just don't bring up Can't Fight This Feeling, yuk!!!!
seems to be another one with just live vocals
agreed did they have a pre recorded track playing and the band(live ) was mice`d down
Yeah they're singing with a pre recorded backing track. They do a great job though because if you watch their fingers, they don't miss a note.
Anybody else think Gary Richrath looks a lot like Tom Brady?
I hated this band and still do.
