    It’s always seemed like the indicator of how *really* talented musicians are is how they sound live without all the magic of studio tricks. These guys were amazing. I also like the MTV unplugged series. Thanks for this!

      @@daddymidwest4111 lol @ OP mentioning unplugged when this is a recording. The whole "acoustic is real music" was a nice propaganda in the 90s. People keep repeating it.

    Golden country off of “You get what you play for” is one the best live rock recordings period. Gary’s guitar playing is excellent

    Oh man Gary! He could and would be killing it today with that talent. Skill, tone, and natural artistic feel. When I watch him play he reminds me of Slash. LP 1959 Burst in the best hands possible. Sadly missed

      @@gregoryduncan3067 Yes, it was good. Like I totally forgot about George Burns singing Fixing a Hole. And the end scene was cool. Had a bunch of old stars and musicians singing it.
      I love that phrase "glitchy gloomy."😂 But yeah, I know what you mean.

    They rocked that one.. I got to see the original crew back in their hay day. They're a great live band who sounds just as good as their studio album

    I learned about all kinds of music styles thanks to Midnight Special! I would have never thought I could live REO and Sly and the Family Stone. Midnight Special ROCKED

    Those late 70s through the mid 80s were top-notch for arena rock.
    Got to see reo, journey, foreigner, AC/DC, styx, U2, Genesis, Elton, VH, such fun!

    Seen REO live many times through the seventies and a couple times in the eighties. But this is the first time I’ve seen male back up singers with them.

    I really like the percussion on this song. I don’t know if it’s an African rhythm but that would be my guess. Anyways the more I see of REO live the more I appreciate them, and it makes me wish I’d seen them live. (I went to a lot of concerts in the 80s but mostly metal so REO wasn’t exactly on my radar back then.)

      OK, I'm gonna go with a wild, but reasonable, guess: That's Richard Page (later of Mr Mister) of the left and Tom Kelly (songwriter who later wrote hits with Billy Steinberg). Both of them had done backing vocals on the Hi Infidelity album.

    REO was my first album. I got You Get What You Play For as a hand me down and got HI Infidelity when I was 9, lol!!! I know em by heart, totally underrated band, they had some good tunes. Just don't bring up Can't Fight This Feeling, yuk!!!!

      Yeah they're singing with a pre recorded backing track. They do a great job though because if you watch their fingers, they don't miss a note.
