And a ticket. Do you know why I pulled you over. No. It's for speeding. But officer, I'm listening to Boston, and you've interrupting Brad. Oh, ok, carry on.
2024 and this is still rocking in my library of music....I was a Senior in HS when Boston made their first album..it was a game changer for the music industry...nothing like it since....
***** So sorry for the late +1 to your comment. My life has been a battle royal since your comment. I have MS & been in a relapse non other that I've ever experienced which has complicated everything that I do normally when I'm in remission. At this point I am so damn far behind on Social Media, along with all else, that I think I am ahead. But I'm fighting my way back & believe me, I am constantly listening to the Rock N' Roll that I love even while I'm down. Music has been a for of mental & physical therapy that has helped me so much. Pain meds, muscle relaxers, & nerve pain meds do not even touch me when it's this bad. But my Music, Rock N' Roll blocks out more pain in any form than any drug on the market that's been prescribed for me. Therefore Music is my Pain Killer & I love it. 🎶❤️🎶🤘
+TheLadyStranger77 So very very sad to learn of your illness, I know you were a daily visitor and commentator here on my channel, and I wondered why I hadn't heard from you for a long time. Please get a little better everyday, and if there is any video I might have that isn't posted, let me know I and if I have it I will upload it. sincerely, Bill (saskatchawan)
That afternoon I was there at the fair, it was strange waiting for the voice of the new singer... I still have the concert shirt ..la feria de del mar San Diego CA.summer 2008
Tom Scholz good on guitar but much better on the organ Hammond, he studied classical piano when he was a kid, the reason he was excellent in the keys and composition of music ...
Tom Scholz also great in electronic engineering, he built his own brand of effects processors and amps ... And by chance I have Rockman Distortion Generator ...
I have to give a big shout out to You tube you peeps make it possible for us to watch these bands that we will never get to see otherwise as a musician I cant say enough about what you guys do also for learning music there is no better way than to learn off of here it has made learning new songs so much easier Thank you very much! Oh yeah and these guys are unreal musicians they make it look so easy :-)
These guys helped me win a big talent competition when I was a teenager. I had a magic/ illusion show and used part of this track for the opening. Flames, appearing girls, fog machines and lights, performed to this amazing music was incredible for its time. We were the first non-music act to ever win this multi-state event. Sure brings back memories. Pure, timeless, classic rock ! That lead singer did Brad proud. Thanks for sharing !
So much respect for Tommy DeCarlo. Thank the universe someone who could carry on Brad’s legacy this good came along so quick. And he’s humble and fits in perfect with the other guys.
That guy sounds very close to Brad Delp. He doesn't have Delp's stage presence. It was pretty much the same fix that Journey did by looking world wide to a similar voice to Steve Perry. Nice looking bass player.
Yea, although I think Bostons sound is less reliant on say Brad Delps voice (don't get me wrong its irreplaceable) than Journey was on Steve Perry. Toms presence then and now and just the raw rock sound that he alone produced is still jaw dropping.. Journey without Steve is less convincing in my humble opinion, although the band just feels different now despite Neil and the boys being there. Steve was epic. He should of had that hip op and just got on with it. Now look. ;) Nice looking bass player.
One of many tunes I'd heard when air play of Boston in the upper regions of the Panhandle of Texas back in the 70s era. Man times has gone by and will never be the roaring 70s again. Coolest tune even in today's time. Yes. 👍
let me tell you brotherman you are not lying about that I played in a local band back in the late 70s and when people ask me can you guys play this song by Boston, I would tell them we are working on that they make it look easier than it is you have to be tom and have that equipment. Trust me we were playing van Halen bad co zep Aerosmith. rush and most of the hit songs then yes even play that funky music white boy I am 61 now and i still working on that but I don't have that gift
For all the people that criticize the singer, get your ass up there and get down!!!!! As with any group, the original lead singer can NEVER be exactly duplicated.....I don't think all you haters can even come close to this Home Depot manager vocalist....Remember, he's not a pro....but doin a damn good job!!!!!
Proud to say I saw them at MSG in 1978 and they sounded very close to the album. Played the hell out of that record for two years then moved on to other artists, but it's great to come back to it and hear how fuckin awesome it still is.
It is cool that Boston is still around. And the f-word was around then although some have no discretion when using the term. Sorry, I'm no angel but I learnt to calm my tounge years ago. Not because I was afraid. No it was about respect to others, regardless. As far as Boston is concerned, they are just as awesome today, as back when they first hit the air waves.
Love the singer. Looks like Burton Cummings. Great job on lead vocals. Also I’m always amazed when a drummer sings as well. Indeed a great bunch of musicians.
I saw Boston on that tour in Richmond, KY, what a show! Now a few years back, I'm working on this organ solo for open mics with our band! It is a challenge, it is a masterpiece and one of the most thrilling organ/keyboard solos ever!
There is so much amazing talent out there that it is just overwhelming.. and about half of the worlds talents is here on this stage! Tom is incredible. Brad is sorely missed. One of rocks very best😢
Quite honestly, they actually sound better 'live' then they did back in the late 70's. I really do miss Brad though, but great job keeping this music alive.
They definitely had better mixing today, but i still prefer the 70's. Love the classic sound. Unfortunately the Giants Stadium recording had a lot of compressor issues so it sounded kinda muffled.
The B side from More than a feeling still sounds as it back then maybe even better live like this. The old dogs still got that tight sound, great keyboards, totally complete guitar work, very exponential back up singing................ delivering!
Summer of 2008, I was there it was strange to wait for the new voice in the group at the end it was a good concert even now I still have the shirt of the 2008 tour...San Diego CA de del mar faire..
Much, much better than some of the other live offerings (notably, the Old Oakland Coliseum performance -- and, yes, I know there were technical problems with the sound system for that show). This sounds great, and captures the blend of roots rock and aural soundscapes that made the first album so spectacular. The band is pretty tight, and DeCarlo is an excellent singer. Well done.
B side to "More than a feeling" such a complete rock n roll song and very much to me one of those fantastic songs with great riffs with guitar, keyboard etc which under the radar.
30+ years of listening to these tunes which I know backwards and forwards from the radio... and I had no idea that Tom played all the B3 parts. You never stop learning stuff huh?
Led ZeppelinFan Tom actually plays all instruments on all the albums. Brad did almost all vocal parts. The touring members only played very limited parts on albums
Will Hohenstein Not entirely true. He didn't play any of the drums. Sib Hashian played drums on the first two albums. Barry Goudreu and Fran Sheehan played on a lot of the tracks as well. But Tom and Brad did the bulk of the recording.
Actually Tom did all the drums from Third Stage on and parts on the first two albums. Sib did play on parts of Don't Look Back. Jim Masdea did some drums on the Debut album, as did Tom And Sib was on 1 or two songs.
Saw Brad before his passing. My wife and I took care of our parents. Her dad got sick after we had purchased Boston tickets so we took a break and saw them. We were so tired that she fell asleep during the concert.
I really dig it when Tommy leaves the mic on the stand - its just a great home base, and seems more grounded and happy! just feels more "right" for him. - and he is GREAT
We're gonna play you a song, a little bit of rock-n-roll You gotta let yourself go, the band's gonna take control We're gettin' off today We'll pick you up and take you away Get down tonight Smokin', smokin' We're cookin' tonight, just keep on tokin' Smokin', Smokin' I feel alright, mamma I'm not jokin', yeah Get your feet to the floor, everybody rock and roll You've got nothing to lose just the rhythm and blues, that's all, yeah We're gonna feel ok We'll pick you up and take you away Get down tonight Smokin', Smokin' We're cookin' tonight, just keep on tokin' Smokin', Smokin' I feel alright, mamma I'm not jokin', yeah Everyone's jumpin', dancin' to the boogie tonight Clap your hands, move your feet If you don't you know it won't seem right We're gettin' off today We'll pick you up and take you away Get down tonight We're gettin' off today We'll pick you up take you away Get down tonight, well alright
indeed it does. Most music relies on previous melodies, chords and arrangements assembled in new ways by new artists. Syu from Galneryus is a master, following many from the history of music. Boston has it's own particular tone and structure, immediately recognizable. What greater tribute...
Tommy DeCarlo lets the "legacy" sound roll on. He has even said Brad WAS a BIG influence on him. Thank God for that. I love Steve Perry, but the last few times I saw Journey, didn't miss him quite frankly..........
RIP Brad Delp! Such awesome music, Boston forever!!!
Awesome voice too. Much underrated.
This song will add 20 mph to your speed when your driving !!!
Absolutely. Gets the blood flowing!
And a ticket. Do you know why I pulled you over. No. It's for speeding. But officer, I'm listening to Boston, and you've interrupting Brad. Oh, ok, carry on.
How profound!! I always make sure to let childish enjoyment of music override good judgment. Haves't thou a sign???
Indeed it does
Heck Brother. I'm sitting still. And it still put me up in the triple digits...well. I may have had a but of extra help. Lol
2024 and this is still rocking in my library of music....I was a Senior in HS when Boston made their first album..it was a game changer for the music industry...nothing like it since....
When I first heard this, it was like the first time I heard Santana, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.
Just now seeing this clip in 2022. For all you kiddies out there, this sound turned the rock industry on their heads when this album was released.
What a bloody marvellous bunch of serious musicians.
Great Rock N' Roll never dies, it just becomes finer with time, & enriches your soul.

So good to hear they are still playing this live. That album was part of the soundtrack of my youth and they were beautiful times back in the 70s!
This post is mad accuracy
The singer does a great job as replacement for the unforgotten fantastic Brad Delp. Thumbs up!
He is not bad, but not even close to Brad.
That afternoon I was there at the fair, it was strange waiting for the voice of the new singer... I still have the concert shirt ..la feria de del mar San Diego CA.summer 2008
Who is the chick on bass, looks like Trish Stratus
Tom Schultz saw him on a RUclips video singing like Brad Delp.
He called him up and hired him
@@dreamstvt is live also, the man does the job !
That organ solo kick ass
Love Boston forever!! right in the Wheelhouse of my teens...That's solid and tight I have to say that vocalist did a damn good job.
living in NH, it is always on the daily playlist of every rock station. It never, EVER gets old.
Q106 Valley best rock station play their song once or twice a day
tom is a freaking genius. an absolute machine of music making excellence!
The BOSTON sound took rock music up to a a whole new level!
A friend of mine, literally just now sent me a link to watch this video....
And i swear my mood sky rocketed...
What a great song... 👍👍👍👍
Tom Scholz is a genius. A wizard....

Fantastic job Tommy and Boston Rocks!! Superb performance. Musician/Artist USA- ThomMeinert
This is definitely one of the best performances I've seen by them
Grand Theft Auto San Andrea's with K-DST brought me here.
Wasn't disappointed.
I don't care what anybody says... THAT was pretty damn awesome!
The organ sequence on this track blew me away first time I heard the album.
So perfect 😊
Boston is Boston! This song will always spread the same energy! Stand up ovation Boston!

I love that Tom is dressed like a Wednesday night bar-band member! No pretense, just great rock & roll! 🤘😎
The bass player is smoking SMOKIN!!!
Boston does not need "eye candy"!
She does pretty good. But she can't match Fran on this song.
I'm not convinced John Doe was talking about her bass playing.
@@shaunkelly9860 lol!!

quite possibly the best rock organ solo in the history of ever. oh to be able to play like that.
There's no cover band on earth that can do this song justice. Just incredible!!!!!
Not gonna dispute that fact, but you need to watch Lexington Lab Band's version of Smokin. The best attempt of a cover to this song.
let me tell you brotherman you are not lying about that I played in a local band back in the late 70s and when people ask me can you guys play this song by Boston, I would tell them we are working on that they make it look easier than it is you have to be tom and have that equipment. Just a great band that literally made their own sound with Stholz mixing their music.

Tommy DeCarlo is a great lead singer. Nice job! Thanks for keeping Boston alive for the fans.
Love this thanks for sharing! Got the album!
Saw Brad before his passing. My wife and I took care of our parents. Her dad got sick after we had purchased Boston tickets so we took a break and saw them. We were so tired that she fell asleep during the concert.
Kick ass song. Remember seeing Boston in 79. Tom came out with a black cape, ala phantom of the opera to play the keyboard solo!
i closed my eyes and imagined the golden years of america's rnr stage. this dude on vocals gave me shivers. he's good
So it's Boston but the only original member left is Tom Scholz?
Boston, the band, NEVER will be the same EVER with all those new members!
The Bass line has never been played so well in history
Really good - she maybe reminds me a bit of Sheryl Crowe.
Gran trabajo vocal depues de 20 años !! R.I.P.!!
I really dig it when Tommy leaves the mic on the stand - its just a great home base, and seems more grounded and happy! just feels more "right" for him. - and he is GREAT
We're gonna play you a song, a little bit of rock-n-roll
You gotta let yourself go, the band's gonna take control
We're gettin' off today
We'll pick you up and take you away
Get down tonight
Smokin', smokin'
We're cookin' tonight, just keep on tokin'
Smokin', Smokin'
I feel alright, mamma I'm not jokin', yeah
Get your feet to the floor, everybody rock and roll
You've got nothing to lose just the rhythm and blues, that's all, yeah
We're gonna feel ok
We'll pick you up and take you away
Get down tonight
Smokin', Smokin'
We're cookin' tonight, just keep on tokin'
Smokin', Smokin'
I feel alright, mamma I'm not jokin', yeah
Everyone's jumpin', dancin' to the boogie tonight
Clap your hands, move your feet
If you don't you know it won't seem right
We're gettin' off today
We'll pick you up and take you away
Get down tonight
We're gettin' off today
We'll pick you up take you away
Get down tonight, well alright
That's wild. I am a drummer/history professor myself. Funny how those two things seem to go together.
El summum del rock. Después de esto no hay más. Boston, la perfección.
Good stuff. I used to see them perform weekends in Hyannis.
Puros Muy Buenos Recuerdos !!!!!!!
Músicos Muy Adelantados A Su Tiempo !!!!!!
"Smokin'" is an understatement!
At first I thought, "Jeri Ryan playin' bass and singin'???" lol
The organ solo has shades of Bach's Toccata and Fugue.
indeed it does. Most music relies on previous melodies, chords and arrangements assembled in new ways by new artists. Syu from Galneryus is a master, following many from the history of music. Boston has it's own particular tone and structure, immediately recognizable. What greater tribute...
One of the best keyboard representations. As good as Wakeman, or Emerson. Tom Schulz.
And Jon Lord ❤
Boston sounds great! I'm going to check out their recent stuff. Lead singer very good. Tom awesome as usual.
Last album was LIFE LOVE & HOPE in 2013 :-)
This is a very hectic song to play....
Good on the vocals. I like the bass players effects Rack
Tommy DeCarlo lets the "legacy" sound roll on. He has even said Brad WAS a BIG influence on him. Thank God for that. I love Steve Perry, but the last few times I saw Journey, didn't miss him quite frankly..........
Man they sound just as good as back then. That Bass and drums are Smokin'!
