    One of the best guitar harmonies I have ever heard. Boston/Scholtz were definitely ahead of their time.

    I thought it was cool,that we sat there and rocked out/in love with this album,in 7th grade,in Colorado.As soon as it came out-wild fire.A few months later we moved back to Michigan-same exact thing was going on there.

    It's so sad that Brad Delp never found his peace of mind. He looked so happy in some of Boston's videos and his videos with Beatle Juice.

    This band was my intro to rock in the 70's. Their sound has stayed with me thick or thin, high or low for all this time. Brad Delp's voice lifted me over all of it. This is not screaming quitars this is High Fidelity Guitars. This is the song I want played at my funeral. Lol, I know but there it is.

    is it any wonder this cassette/eight track was in EVERY (and i mean EVERY) car when i was in high school. i am fifty years old and if i had five records to take with me on a dessert island, my first two pick would be their debut album because i would play the first one until it disinergraded. i realize time moves on and so does musical tastes but if this record doesn't rock you out of your seat, then you just don't like music in general.

    This may be a weird question - but does anyone know why the way Brad Delp sings the tune in the chorus differently (and in my opinion way worse) on their live ‘76 shows? The way he sings it here (this vid), on the original studio recording and on a ‘79 concert recording on youtube sounds just more right to me.

  • @Zyworski

    This is a condensed version of the Boston that I am familiar with, I guess the cost of supporting all the extra personnel became prohibitive. I do like this version of Boston even if it is not as ostentatious as the older version.

  • @JimmyLeeHook
    @JimmyLeeHook 9 лет назад +1

    Great performance by Brad Delp. But even he couldn't hit his own high note at 3:45 in this video. That's one of those notes you hit in the studio, and say "Thank goodness that's over." Unless your name is Von Smith singing "Music of the Night." Then you hit any note you want over and over.

    • @JimmyLeeHook
      @JimmyLeeHook 9 лет назад +1

      He did indeed. But he was flat. He missed the pitch. He just couldn't quite get there. It was an off note. Even the great Brad Delp had trouble singing his own stuff at times. That note is stratospheric unless you are Von Smith singing "Music of the night." That guy has range unlike any human I've ever heard.

    • @TheDiabethick
      @TheDiabethick 8 лет назад +1

      +JimmyLeeHook I read an interview about Brad on more than a feeling. He said that the high note right before the solo was a one hit wonder note and that he would never be able to do it again.

      Well, I was intriged about your comment, Brad's voice was incredible, he could hit a perfect E5 in mix voice in the good old days. You have to take some considerations, first of all, I saw a lot of videos about this boy you commented, Von Smith, he have an incredible talent, he can hit really high notes in WHISTLE "register". And I put it in quotation marks because in singing, that's more of a trick than an actual register. Although it's hard and it needs talent and practice. Second, Von sings most of his high notes above C5 in "reinforced falsetto" and you clearly can hear the tone difference in his performances. Almost like Adam Lambert or Cristian Castro (mexican singer). Brad in this performance (near 40 years old) sing most of the notes in MIX VOICE, and of course the highest C#5, D#5 and E5 in falsetto. He was a tenor, but in mix voice, at this age, he could not hit that belting so well. It really shows that you are really impressed by this guy Von. It's great, but not THAT great. Everyone has his ups and downs, and Brad and Von aren't the exception. Different techniques and styles.

    Then why do I hear 3 guitars? Ive been playing for 23 years and his chord positioning is correct. Most of bostons songs are arranged for 3 guitars. If you have read and interview, post a link otherwise your just trying to be right and are not being correct.

    @bplesmid I saw them this year, and, I hate to say this, it was one of the most boring concerts I've been to. They made some fantastic music, but the band made it sound like you were listening to the album. Yeah, I know tons of Boston fans (of which I'm one) will give me a thumbs down for this post, but it is what it is.
    Regardless, RIP Brad Delp. Definitely one of the great voices in music.

      ps. not to be to critical but if I did that with the parts many fly then you would be riding Walmart quality turbines to your next vacation flight. Not to mention years on stage myself knowing I would not want my material degraded by this reproductive audio. Thanks anyway. I didn't thumb down but please consider it.
