I've been a huge REO Speedwagon fan since I was a kid back in the 70's, and seen them in Chicago in 1980, or maybe it was 81, it was their biggest tour ever, The Hi Infidelity Tour, when they were all still young, what an awesome show that was! Even now nearly 40 years later, I still love their music. Kevin Cronin has always been one of my favorite front men, and lead singers, and even though the long dark locks, are now short and white, and he doesn't have the energy he had back in the day, he's still one of my favorites...R.I.P. Gary Richrath.
my dad played drums on the road with them for a few years in the 80's. Graham Lear. I remember riding on a tour bus with the band as a toddler. The guys were amazingly kind and fun to be around. Kevin Cronin is one of the all time greatest song writers, and that gave REO speedwagon a much bigger effect than many other big "rock bands" of the era. They had style, but REO had substance. Real song-writing chops that went far beyond anthems and guitar solos.
Brian Lear how cool. If you don’t mind me asking why wasn’t your Dad the permanent replacement for Alan? And I will agree REO has some great music and its a shane they weren’t more popular.
J D Well, they did have the number one album of 1981 and 2 number one hits and still draw decent audiences so they can't complain :-) Bryan Hitt became their permanent drummer. Graham Lear was their drummer between Alan and Bryan.
I love that little scene in the beginning of an REO video when Alan hands out his drumsticks to your dad. (I can t find it right now, but you surely know it). How long did he work with them? A year? Or less? BTW I think Kevin Cronin is an absolutely awesome human being...! Love from Eastern Europe
Brian Lear Awesome story, man, and I wish your dad was still playing with REO. I’m a guitar and former sax player, and this current drummer’s timing sounds OFF to me - at least on this song, and it spoils it at least a tiny bit !
Brian Lear your dad is Graham Lear? How cool. I loved the poignant moment on their video for I Don’t Want To Lose You when Alan hands over the sticks. Awesome man!!
@@tamathawalden2037 yes REO wouldn’t be one of the greatest rock bands without Gary Richarth. God bless his soul. He is up there jamming with Eddie Van Halen for sure.
REO hasn’t been the same without him! I met the man and got to know him a bit when the band was starting out and playing clubs in my city. Not only a great guitarist, but a great man!!
I am now 57 and i loved this song from the first time it was released...One of the most beautiful songs ever from REO and from the 80s. So much nostalgia. And so beautiful now after almost 40 years seeing Kevin singing it with his really cute daughter..
REO died the day Gary left, I understand why they had to get rid of him, he was a flaming alcoholic but he is the only reason any of those chick songs were any good, his guitar style made those songs popular! Rest in peace Gary you are missed.
Kevin Cronin is now and always will be one of my heros. His vocals and the band has brought me many comforts thru the years. I hope she knows that her dad is a living legend. Great performance.
As a live singer myself, I enjoyed the subtle things that were going on “musician-wise” to help make her comfortable. It makes my heart swell. Kevin is such a loving man. Probably subconsciously, he slowed and articulated the beat before she came out, knowing that nerves often make a singer “push” the rhythm… he gave her a rock solid vocal beat with the drums. And, daddy knows best- she came out and pushed the rhythm but grasped his lead. PERFECTION. Then he stayed very rock solid with the beat, making sure to showcase her. He even began verses, triggering her memory just in case she was nervous and forgot. Master! Great video! Without words it shows a class act enjoying the stage with her. (And what a beautiful voice she has!!)
They are all nice guys. I grew up in the same town as Doughty. Met him through his little brother (who can sing and used to do a lot of their songs at the karaoke bars back in the late 80's and early 90's. Met the band when I was in college.
This is the "ultimate love song" and I've been a big fan of REO Speedwagon since the start. But I must admit this particular rendition had quite escaped my notice. Whit his daughter? Are you kidding me? This was so special it made me cry. This song always made me teary eyes anyway but to hear him sing it with his daughter just sent me over the edge. You know I'm saving this one!
Forever I will love REO SPEEDWAGON! Kevin is amazing! and his daughter? What a voice! Brings me back to the early 80’s when I was a teenager in Love. Life was simple and we had the best music ever!!! Kevin still sounds exactly the same!!
REO Speedwagon is the music of a generation, the 80’s which by the way has stood the test of time. The music is still as good today as it was then. Many of the songs are actually soundtrack from some of the big movies of the 80’ s as well. Some great memories for sure. Criticizing someone’s looks because they are aging or for any reason shows a person who is weak. If all your confidence and security comes from your looks, then you are a shallow, insecure person. Ages old saying, if you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything !
So true. I went to high school with Neal Doughty and his younger brother. The funny thing is that his younger brother sounds a lot like Kevin Cronin and would do their songs Karaoke and the bar would go silent. It still happens occasionally.
Agreed! I feel sorry for those who have to put others down to make themselves feel better. Whether you like/don't like them you have to give up respect for their staying power--how many bands have been around for 50 years?!! REO still ROCKS!!!

For the haters ...(btw why in the hell would someone hate on this guy) but age hits us all eventually, and most of you haters won't be able to do 1/3 of what this guy can still do when you hit his age..He is still better than most the garbage put out by these young musicians nowadays
He’s been rockin a long time and he can still sing
I Love that he did this with his daughter. She is beautiful and can sing
O tempo não volta, o que volta é o desejo de volta no tempo, saudades!..
I see a proud father on stage and a proud daughter too because i can see all the love and happiness they share singing the song.
I say, not every band that's still around has the energy they did back in the day. But, they're one of the last groups still rockin it.
Back when hi infidelity was even on pop stations not only on rock stations kickin it!!
What an accolade, to sing this song with his grown up daughter. Omg it says everything about rock music! Long may it reign....
Was the song written for her mother? Now that would be something.
my dad played drums on the road with them for a few years in the 80's.
Rest In Peace Gary Richrath. One of the greatest guitarist of all time🙏🙏
Tru Dat !!! I'm 62 and won't go see them without Gary
@@tamathawalden2037 that isn't what Gary would want though. Get out there and enjoy the music that he helped create.
I am now 57 and i loved this song from the first time it was released...One of the most beautiful songs ever from REO and from the 80s. So much nostalgia. And so beautiful now after almost 40 years seeing Kevin singing it with his really cute daughter..
1 OF THE BEST SONGS EVER RECORDED!! BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES!! REO RULES! FOLKS THIS IS REAL MUSIC!! 😊👍
REO died the day Gary left, I understand why they had to get rid of him, he was a flaming alcoholic but he is the only reason any of those chick songs were any good, his guitar style made those songs popular! Rest in peace Gary you are missed.
My fave REO song
Me tooo loved it
80,s rock ballad real music.reo ruls.
That ballad still rocks today. Imagine 35 years ago this song hit the charts and was one of the number 1 requested songs on the radio.
What a great thing to bring his Daughter on stage. Wonderful.
Treasure the moment while this man is still alive because one day he is just a memory to us😢this song is older than me but i love this song forever❤️
Ryan Reyes I’m literally 16 and this song will be a part of my life forever

Oh no 😢
This guys are legends. They are part of my teenage days.Nothing beats the original.Bravo..
i was lucky enough to see them in the 80s at the edinburgh playhouse , scarily along time ago!
People age, talent never does. One of the finest 80s bands.. still sound as good.
Kevin Cronin is now and always will be one of my heros. His vocals and the band has brought me many comforts thru the years. I hope she knows that her dad is a living legend. Great performance.
His daughter is beautiful and she has an amazing voice!
Proud father she has❤
The daughter can't hold a tune.
Dad taking care of his little baby girl. Beautiful and priceless
They are all nice guys. I grew up in the same town as Doughty. Met him through his little brother (who can sing and used to do a lot of their songs at the karaoke bars back in the late 80's and early 90's. Met the band when I was in college.
No matter how old these guys get i will always be a big fan!! 😊 Complete admiration and respect . Thx R.E.O. Keep the fire burnin'
Still takes me back in time, and all the feels are still there. They are legends!
Kevin has a BEAUTIFUL daughter, plus the girl can sing just like her father! Keep on rocking and rolling guys 🤟☮️☮️
Always loved REO Speedwagon ,Especially this song right now
This is the "ultimate love song" and I've been a big fan of REO Speedwagon since the start. But I must admit this particular rendition had quite escaped my notice. Whit his daughter? Are you kidding me? This was so special it made me cry. This song always made me teary eyes anyway but to hear him sing it with his daughter just sent me over the edge. You know I'm saving this one!
The fact that they can get to sing this together negates any flaws...truly a marvel.💖
Hello dear, how are you doing, how is the weather today?,happy new month of december
Forever I will love REO SPEEDWAGON! Kevin is amazing! and his daughter? What a voice! Brings me back to the early 80’s when I was a teenager in Love. Life was simple and we had the best music ever!!! Kevin still sounds exactly the same!!
Thank you Tony for liking my reply!!! My best friend actually is their stage manager!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
It is sweet to see father and daughter singing together like this. What a treat!
Beautiful daughter with beautiful disposition
REO Speedwagon is the music of a generation, the 80’s which by the way has stood the test of time. The music is still as good today as it was then. Many of the songs are actually soundtrack from some of the big movies of the 80’ s as well. Some great memories for sure. Criticizing someone’s looks because they are aging or for any reason shows a person who is weak. If all your confidence and security comes from your looks, then you are a shallow, insecure person. Ages old saying, if you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything !
They started in the 70's and are still rocking in 2019!!!!!
REO still ROCKS!!!
nothings gonna fade this reo's song can't fight this feeling.....still living.
I have to say his daughter is hella cute and a good singer.
the poetry and emotion in the lyrics is a forgotten art in today's music... this song is a classic..
That has to be a real thrill for any parent to perform on stage with their child.
Or a child performing a history making song with a legend parent!!
@@jrstrange123 agreed.
Absolutely, I wish I had a father to do anything with. Let alone one as talented and famous as hers!! Praises to both of them👍
Oh absolutely yes....Meatloaf and his daughter Pearl Aday, George Thorogood and his daughter! It's good showmanship, and great history.
Truly special
How sweet of Kevin to bring his daughter on stage to sing a song with him!
What an ICONIC song!!! And years later ...his daughter standing on stage singing it with her dad!!! Wow! This is a song that will stand the test of time!
if you're a parent, you get it. brought tears to my eyes and not even my kid!
I am 64 and from Central Wisconsin I know Kevins family. The tremendous loss this family was going through you all do not know about but I do. I loved your music all my life Kevin even before I got to know your family. Keep on rocking and know back in Wisconsin we still are loving on your family with prayers.
I mean we know his mom had passed away soon before it's not like it was secret.
REO was my first concert. Makes me so happy to see Kevin out there performing his heart out
Mine to caught the guitar pic at devos hall in grand rapids mi
Burned up a few high infedialty cassettes too😊
Man I would love to go back to 1980 or so. This band kills me and now to see Kevin's daughter,......... SO beautiful. I am so blessed to have been a fan since the beginning. So many relationships/break ups,..... Wow! Thanks for the memory! Remember when we had LONG hair? lol
Great teaming up for a classic song.
I cant help but cry.. The songs still amazing.. Part of my younger years.. Thank you reo speedwagon
...
He's still got it. Great to see a legend of music live.
One of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen.
Sooooo true I'm 65 now still loving them ❤❤❤❤❤love pam
Wow! He’s 68 and I think he’s still got it going on! His daughter looks just like him, beautiful voice!👍
love the classics and to see him sharing this with his own daughter is juts wonderful. great stuff
I wish Y'all have respect for Kevin, I'm 23 yrs old, I respected his talents, and I don't care what he wears, I appreciated him , and the entirely Rock n Roll history, I wish I was there, living in their Era, let's just enjoy him and hes music while he still with us, instead of bashing him, Rock's well lived forever, God bless you all.
Thank you! Someone who actually gets it and respects it. Instead of slamming them. If half these people who are bashing knew what some of these musicians go Through before putting on a concert maybe they wouldnt be so quick to slam them
@@lishalautizi3723 absolutely correct 👍 hater's they think they're better, I love Rock n Roll that's all I listen through these days, I appreciate them all, and thank you for being there for them too, understanding them.
Beautiful daughter !
What a wonderful moment for a father and daughter to be able to share. Keep rockin' Kevin.
I grew up as a punk rock/ metal kid in the 80s. Everyone needs to lay off this dude because this song is pretty damn awesome and the fact that he's still able to sing it is impressive.
that's good stuff...good to see a legend share the stage with his daughter...thank ya'll for the music and memories
This great song is probably among the top 50 in its genre! And it brings goosebumps too, aww!
They are wonderful people to ever get to know... I was a roadie for Reo Speedwagon for a long time
Robert Jenkins You were a roadie for REO Speedwagon? WOW, I’ll bet you’ve got some great memories and great stories to share!!!
@@terriestapley5475 I had a lot of good times and plenty of memories wish I could've continued on but things change as we get older but at least I have those memories to fall back on
I love REO and they have so many songs that I will listen to the day I die. Nice to see that his daughter up with them as they are icons
Love me some REO Speedwagon and Kevin Cronin! The happiest guy in rock roll!
Nothing like family voices singing together! My daughter now 42 called them REO Speedwangin and got excited when she heard them come on the radio when she was very young. The first band she recognized with just a few notes.
I think his daughter inherited not only his musicianship but also the way she sway her body while singing.🙂🙂So cute! Father and daughter duo..
Due to covid it is not safe to go to the club, please twerk from home.
That explains why he looks so OLD, he has a kid !
How cool to be able sing one of the greatest rock ballads ever with your dad...and vice versa, with your daughter.
Nothing better than a proud dad daughter moment. Love this song.
Wow! Beautiful daughter and a singer too. Great!!!
Very, very sweet daddy/daughter duet. How could you not smile after watching this!
Old rockers bring up new rockers! Keep on playing that greatest music
.I was in high school Class of 79' this is the music of my life. Where did the time go. Great song brings back a lot of memories!
I graduated in high school in 1979 also. Holy sh#t did time fly!
Class of 77. Wow...you are right. time flys!
Kevin still sounds great after all these years and it's good to hear great music, again
What an emotion-invoking song and video!!! Hard to believe "Can't Fight This feeling" celebrates its 40th Year Anniversary this month. This REO SpeedWagon hit will always be honored by new generations and genres!
Great father-daughter duet in 2019.
Enjoyed this. I've followed for a long time. Glad he's still around. His daughter has a great voice.
I’m a guy of 51 years old and have seen a lot of concerts over the years. I saw REO when I was 18 and that concert will always stand out as the best.
Well, it's safe to say you won't be seeing them when you're 71.
What's bad to say about this? One proud dad there performing yet guiding his daughter as any dad would do pure class nothing less
His daughter is beautiful and as a father and a lover of REO for most of my life, this was wonderful to see and hear them together :D In old South Africa we loved this band.
