    Thanks for trying it out, glad you liked it. The water shadows are actually a sand texture that they reused from termina field and just scrolled to create the effect, I'll redo that one for the public release.
    The models don't really have textures to replace outside of a specular map, so there's not much that can be done to those without full 3D replacements. I'd like to upgrade a lot of those and fix the bad mapping seams on the moon once mod support is in

    I’ve always wondered why Nintendo didn’t consider on their own assigning the use of the boots to the d-pad in Ocarina of Time and the main masks in Majora’s Mask. As far as I remember, the d-pad wasn’t used for anything in those games. Personally, I find it a brilliant idea because it makes the gameplay much smoother without the need to constantly pause the game to change the items you want to use.

    • @ayyupleslie
      @ayyupleslie  Месяц назад +2

      It’s such a great inclusion. If you’re not used to using it it’s really easy to forget and use the old method, but it’s saving so much time not having to pause and keeps the flow of the game!

    • @The111Primagen
      @The111Primagen Месяц назад +7

      Nintendo had a standing rule at the time that forbid game developers from making use of the D-Pad, Control Stick, and C-buttons simultaneously. IIRC, you could only pick two (since you have two hands). As a result, the D-Pad was not utilized much, since it was far away from everything else useful (unlike the C-buttons) and it was not as 3D friendly as the Control stick. Certainly, if you look at the janky controller design the N64 had, it kind of makes sense. But yeah, fortunately better controllers have been designed since then that make this a non-issue.

    • @ayyupleslie
      @ayyupleslie  Месяц назад +1

      @@The111Primagen Wow, I didn't know this bit it really does make sense when you think about it!

    • @Bird-wz7nx
      @Bird-wz7nx Месяц назад +1

      @@The111Primagen This exactly.
      The controller was designed to have an A la carte control scheme, where you picked between D Pad and C Buttons, D Pad and Stick, or Stick and C buttons.
      (they still kinda do this with the way you can rotate the joycons to use as individual controllers!)
      This is totally lost on modern gamers, but the entire gaming industry wouldn't really even come to understand the *need* for a standard, dedicated camera stick for 3D gaming until the rise of the Dualshock controller, which came well into the PlayStation's lifespan. (1998??? iirc)
      Yes, Nintendo should have made the boots easier, probably as a C button, as boots in past games had been assignable.
      But using the D-pad would have been funky.
      Honestly, it felt super shitty for them to sneak the map toggle on the L button; it was so easy to accidentally delete the map and not know where it went, because they already broke their own internal logic with that one.

    • @oxedward4738
      @oxedward4738 Месяц назад

      Probably because of the way the n64 controller was designed, making it basically impossible to comfortably reach both the d-pad and analog stick at the same time. They still could've done it for the 3DS versions though.

      In order to switch between the original textures and the texture pack you need to enable developer mode.
      In order to do this go to: AppData\Local\Zelda64Recompiled\
      Right click on graphics.json and open with notepad. There you can find: "developer_mode": false,
      Change this to: "developer_mode": true,
      Now when you are in the game if you press F4 it will instantly swap between the texture pack and the original textures.
