  • Welcome back everyone, today we are breaking in the Revo 3.3. We will be using 20% Nitro fuel by Sidewinder (only Nitro fuel we had available in our area). Always refer to your owners manual for warnings, precautions, and additional safety information. We are new to Nitro and are learning as we go so if there is anything we are leaving out please leave a comment. Stay tuned in for upcoming first run of the Revo 3.3 along with a maintenance video.

      It must of had a leak causing it to run hot all the time. It ran that way out of the box.

      I would not follow the Traxxas break in, we learned a lot of DONTS!!! The motor needs heat cycles, and a smooth break in. I’d follow this procedure, it worked great on our Losi 8ight. Losi 8ight RTR | Break In

    I suggest the next time you break in any engine you do heat cycles and let the engine idle though a couple tanks, that connecting rod in the 3.3 is extremely weak and putting strain on it by pulling the trigger will make it stretch. Not trying to be a dick, just giving advice. As always keep on burning nitro man!

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  8 месяцев назад +1

      Your not being a dick, that’s great advise. Check out our Losi 8igjt RTR break in video, idled a few tanks, then proceeded to run through 5 more tanks and it runs so much better.

      Can I add to this and rememind folks that while it cools, to make sure the piston is off the sleeve so at the bottom. I forgot to do this on a new engine I had and I wasn't very happy.

    very good fuel this is i broke in my 1st engine on this sidewinder fuel i had no issues with this fuel.... its great fuel!!!... stick with the sidewinder nitro fuel, the traxxas nitro fuel has too much oil, engine will run hotter with a less tuning window...

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  Год назад

      In the process of replacing engine under warranty I’ll update everyone on that once it happens. But is runs hot, between 230-255° for 5min. Then ramps to 265-280° around 7min (no sustained rpm, tuning adjustments don’t help).

    I have a question, all the videos say check the temperature. But none say what the temp should be. Can you please tell me the range I am trying for and how to raise and lower it? I bought my Revo 3.3 today. Getting ready to take it out soon.

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  3 месяца назад

      I’ve heard 190-220°, I’ve also heard up to 240° is okay as long as it’s getting sufficient fuel for lubrication. I’d use the Losi break in, it works a lot better. Losi 8ight RTR | Break In

    Also, it’s not true that 20 percent has more oil. 30 percent can have just as much oil and even more. Depending on the mix.

    How is the EZ start system? Ive seen a lot of people remove it and use the igniter and pull start. No sure how the pull start works with that body either.

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  Год назад

      EZ start so far works great, if that ever fails I will switch to the pull start and igniter. Removing all that stuff does really help in repairs because it takes up a lot of room. Thank you for the question.

    Is VP racing fuel a good brand?

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  Год назад +1

      I’ve heard nothing but good things about VP, never tried it. But I’ve also heard of Traxxas engines hard to tune using anything but Top fuel.

  • @felixdahousecat5331
    @felixdahousecat5331 Год назад +1

    Traxxas doesn't specify whether or not the body has to stay on. I was thinking about keeping mine off for the break in to make tuning easier

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  Год назад

      I’d leave it off, honestly doesn’t matter. But it’s a little easier to tune during the break in with the body off.

  • @toyotatacomaguy23
    @toyotatacomaguy23 Год назад +1

    I just idle a tank of nitro through mine and make sure it gets to operating temp for the break in. it works like normal. I think the only reason they tell you to break in an rc car is so that way it doesn't void the warranty. and so that way you buy more fuel and need to buy a new glow plug and stuff quicker.

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  Год назад +2

      I agree, I ran a lot of tanks before full throttle. Runs great when it’s adjusted, I’m no pro at nitro. Running it tomorrow, first time in awhile
