Nitro vet here, your high speed needle setting is about right, you want to aim for 230 degrees F, and your low speed needle is too lean, your engine is shutting off after 2-3 seconds so you need to richen it slightly so the engine shuts off after 5 seconds. Make each adjustment in 1/8th turn increments 👍
That’s wrong in two ways. If it was lean it would shut off after a longer period of time due to it using less fuel. Secondly 3 seconds after pinching it is perfect :| Respectfully, you’re wrong.
@@lorenzfriedmann2829 Incorrect. Do more research or ask any racer and you'll find I'm right. 3 secs is lean on the LSN and the richer the needle is set the longer it will take the engine to shut off because there is more residual fuel in the carb and engine. This is nitro tuning 101
@@Lander76 not entirely sure where you race but at my local tracks, my hobby shop, and basically every media I can look this up to confirm it says I’m right. Oh well. If it works it work idc anymore
@@lorenzfriedmann2829actually you are wrong my friend…Lsn lean it will cut out quicker. You’re the first person I’ve heard say cuts out longer when lean. 3-5 seconds is a good tune though
your not doing anything wrong. you just have to understand that with nitro you'll have to tune the engine to whatever the current environment calls for. literally every time. maybe during long run times the environment will change and so the tune will change along with it. and when adjusting it make small adjustments. in nitro we refer to them as "hourly" adjustments when turning the mixture screws. slight changes make BIG differences
Awesome thank you, I have heard of hourly from other videos. I’m switching to sidewinder fuel after I run out of the top fuel. I heard too fuel has too much oil.
On your Nitro truck adjust your top and needle first for top speed then go to your low speed needle and adjust it until it comes out of the hole faster if you think you got it right pinch your fuel line off it should take 3 1/2 to 4 seconds to kill the motor if it does that you have it really close but adjusting the high and low at the same time you're going to be chasing Your Tail cuz every time you adjust the high speed it screws the low speed up think of it this way the high-speed needle would be your fuel flow going to the motor so when you got your top end consumption tuned in then go to your low speed needle and adjust it then pinch the fuel line off going from the carburetor to the gas tank it should take about three and a half to 4 seconds to shut the motor off but you need to run your truck for at least 2 or 3 minutes between every time you adjust the carburetor it doesn't have enough time to clean itself out
Start with the HSN and adjust for max WOT performance. Then If you lean your LSN too much you won't be able to bring your idle down low enough with the idle screw. If you can't lower the idle with the idle screw the richen the LSN to bring the idle down and then re adjust idle screw to bring the idle into the correct range.
Change your carb if you want the idle to settle and drop down properly.ohhhhh not to forget this is very important. Tune after some high speed passes to find the best position for the screws. Your idle was just a bit to high. Overall looks good to me 👍😉
@@redbanditracing ohhh that's good. I just installed a os 11k carb. Holy moly what a difference in idling. No more idling hanging up high no more rich low needle. Ohhh it's nice. . Im really thinking about adding one these nitro Revo 3.3 to my nitro collection but after my first new nitro Traxxas T maxx 2.5 out the box wouldn't tuned or idle experience got me thinking about it Traxxas support team wasn't no help on the phone thankfully my local hobby got everything fixed running perfect
Tbh all Nitros are pain in the ass, not just Traxxas lol they all require a owner who loves to tune....now on the other hand, the Primitive RC monster trucks seem to run ALOT better

That’s what I’ve been hearing, I’d love to get the OS engine cause it drops in the Revo with no mod. But damn those are expensive. I will definitely think about getting the carb though.
You're low speed needle needs to go up you need a written about the thickness of the screwdriver head times two and lean the top end out the same amount you got to set your top and needle first cuz it screws your low end needle up it builds a dead spot in the middle of the carburetor which you have when I do is when I get it tuned the way I want it to run and it runs good when I'm done for the end of the day I reach in the high-speed needle up an eighth of a turn for the next time I run you need to check your coolant temps right down the center of your head that's the only place to get a true reading once you get the carburetor set you'll never have to touch the low speed needle again when you're done for the day just reaching up the high-speed needle for the next time it's going to be rich and you can adjust down to it don't adjust your low end needle because your top and needle takes care of it I hope it helps good luck
They clearly stated they are beginners in Nitro, as a Nitro vet with many years only running Nitro this is not how you bring Nitro back. With the advances in electric models with instant power, its a lot easier for those to start in the hobby. If you're new to this hobby, don't listen to this idiot. Nitro is not hard, it takes practice, and patience. Great video guys, glad you got the Losi 8ight RTR seems like it runs a lot better than the Revo 3.3
That thing rips!! Stoked to see you running it on a track I’ve watched 100 of vids & everyone just ran ina parking lot or dirt lot no jump’s nothing just speed runs! BORING!
Traxxas fuel is horrible, waay too much oil. 10 to 12% oil is plenty. I run 25/11 (nitro/oil) & after 2 gallons my 3.3 still has loads of compression & looks new inside.
Heat is your best friend when it comes to starting get a head heater
You can adjust the transmision to shift sooner or later. This is also affected by the spur gears and pinion gear combinations.

I think once I’ve used all the top fuel I’ll switch to Sidewinder because it has less oil.
It depends on what blend you use some sidewinder has just as much oil try to get the 12% oil not 16%
I use VP racing Fuels 9 percent oil 20percent nitro.

If your temps are good and it’s not loading up too much at idle you need to adjust your idle gap to drop the idle.

Tune by engine temp. Simple as that
vp fuel 20% is the way to go or 25% both have 9% oil.

I know the video is old but I’ll comment anyways. Low ends rich got no grunt. High ends nice. Don’t use tracxas fuel. Way too much oil in it.
Never too late thank you, I’ve learned a lot from the comments.
Trash that traxxas fuel and you take temps from the glow plug area. AIM it straight down in there
I have some sidewinder fuel, heard it was better than Traxxas top fuel.
Much much better
Traxxas fuel is made by morgan
First thing is get rid of that junk traxxas fuel bro
Also a os carb is definitely key to perfect tuning guy
Check out newer videos, that Revo 3.3 is gone

Temps on most things have a tolerance bro. Some 4° or 1 or to more in either direction. So Farley accurate I would say.
