The Colorado Ren Faire has shuttles that will take you from the parking areas to the front entrance to the Faire. Do that and save yourself a lot of walking.
As a native who has attended this faire many times, I'm glad you got to experience it. However, I can't believe you had a whole section about food and didn't mention the turkey legs! Nothing else will make you feel more medieval than getting a gigantic roasted turkey leg and a tankard of beer!
You actually ended up interacting with most of our cast it seems!!! I was one of the fairy's on cast there and you caught videos of most of our cast!!! We pride ourselves off interactions!!! I'm glad you had so much fun
I went to the Colorado ren faire a couple of years back. It was the most beautiful location for a ren faire I have ever seen. To have it at the foot of a mountain in such a quaint little town was incredible. It felt like I was actually in a fantasy land. It was such a great experience.
I was hoping I would find your video! Hi! I am the person who was singing in front of the satyr. I appreciated that you took time to listen. See you next year! ❤
I'm lucky to live only about 20 minutes south of this festival and go every year. It's the only Ren Fest I've ever been to, but I've asked many performers and out-of-towners and most say it's one of the best in the country. If you ever come back I recommend the spinach pies as a tasty snack, and the knave sandwich as a proper meal. You'll have to keep your eyes open because like you said they're only sold at one stall. I also think the beer prices are super reasonable compared to most events.
Some information on Colorado Renaissance festival. The 60 acres is the public Fair portion. The 338 acres number is the entire property, Parking/camping for the staff. There is shuttles that take you from the various parking lots to the Entrance. Although the Surrounding village is 16th century, they have Themed weekends. My favorite being Celtic week.
You did an amazing job with this presentation of the C.R.F. One thing I'd like to add, if it hasn't already been said (a lot of comments I didn't read), but please please please! stay hydrated!!! I don't know how many people I see EVERY year being treated for dehydration, especially those from out of state. People passing out in the bathrooms and some so severe they are ambulanced out. Remember you are at an elevation and some times dry heat that still requires water water water. By all means, please crush a cup of wine, ale, mead, whatever, but PLEASE remember the water. The park is EXCEPTIONAL when it comes to safety and the well being of its constituents.
Let me start by saying I like your outfit and especially your makeup. This is my first visit to your channel so I look forward to perusing some more of your vlogs. The Colorado Faire looked fun. Almost like a simi permanent site. They should provide transportation from the parking lot to the gate if it is that far away. Maybe donkey carts for groups and other period correct conveyances. I believe I went to the very first Renaissance Faire near Hollywood in the 60’s. It was started by a group of teachers and actor types and was associated with a local radio station, KPFK. It has grown to be this phenomenon which is great to see. The one suggestion I have for you is to study a bit about the period and try and incorporate that into your character. We do still have a Faire in Southern California if you haven’t been you should visit.
Crimson Rose Masquerade and Disguises A Costume Superstore in Denver have a HUGE selection. Disguises might have the old "military" outfits you're looking for. They have a big selection in the back part of their store that surprised the heck out of us.
I lived in Colorado for 45 years and attended that ren fair, over the years many times. You do know that they have shuttle buses that run around the different parking areas to shuttle people to and from the fairs entrance and they run on a pretty regular basis, I do believe every 10 to 15 minutes. But everything else you described was very accurate.
The "400 acres" number probably includes the parking lot and the land in and around the faire... the 35 acres is probably the actual size inside the boundaries. :) Most renfaires try to use that sneaky measurement to sound like they are 5x (10x?) larger than they really are.
Colorado Ren Fair Tip(for anyone here and going to the faire next week/when it opens): Either go before it opens and chill for a bit or go at 11-ish to minimize traffic Tip 2: I don't know who he is but the excutioner with the "shame" sign is an awesome dude to interact with. Would recommend saying hi to him if you get a chance.
His name is Eric, and he is amazing. You can find him doing other events all over Colo from military reenactment to Star Wars as well. He's a great friend of mine so I may be a tad biased :)
8:51 that's me twirling my little heart out in the background!! Thanks for coming to our little village. Hopefully we might see you again if you decide the trek is worth it!
The problem with Colorado is we aren't really very "hot"'per se.. it's just the fact we're only a few inches away from a ball of nuclear fusion and that makes it miserable sometimes lol..
Good point. People think "Oh but it's cooler in the mountains." No! I've been in the Rockies and the Appalachians in summer and it gets hot. Not deep south humid hot, but very dry. Like being closer to the broiler in the oven. The south is like being on top of the broiler pan.
lol I’ve lived in Colorado for 32 years and we most certainly have hot summers. And our festival takes place over one of our hottest months. Then we are closer to the deadly laser.
I volunteer at the Yuma, AZ Ren Faire; CO doesn't seem so far away and not as expensive as the others, thanks for the info. Love the video, and new sub!
my suggestion for boots would be son of sandlar. they're pricey but totally worth it. they have a website that you can order a fully custom pair of boots on if they're not at a ren faire near you
Great video, hope to see you all there next year. If Nick is still looking for boots he should talk to Tim and Mary at Windwalker Fine Footwear. They have a booth at the Colorado Ren Fair, and make AMAZING boots! I got my pair this year and I love them! Custom made and custom fit to me. Total worth the cost and the wait to get them.
Hi I'm from Colorado. Be prepared for it to be very dry outside. It'll also be kinda difficult to breathe if you go to higher altitudes of the state. Bring good walking shoes, and drink lots of water! Colorado is so beautiful, so if you go for the faire definitely go to some other places as well
Wow! Absolutely amazing! Great to see your vision of the Colorado Ren Faire. I really enjoyed it. I am in Ohio and our Renaissance Festival starts today. We love it and attend often. Cheers and huzzah!
Even as someone who isn't a "social butterfly" I think the environment of CO Ren Faire does an excellent job at creating a wonderful space to just *exist* in. Great shows, great sounds, great sights, great food. DIdn't get a chance to go this year, but it's always a blast. Even more so when you can go with friends.
I use to go to the Colorado Ren Faire when it was much smaller long ago. The parking wasn't a problem back then. My main reason for going was to see the crafts people. The blacksmith making all sorts of metal objects, the glass blower, and others. All of which you didn't cover! I hope they're still there! And the performances. I don't go anymore because of the heat (not much they can do about that), and I've become much more introverted over the years (to my liking), so I don't go many places where their are large groups of people. But I thank you for giving me a peak, and seeing everyone enjoying themselves!
I grew up going to this faire, so I never knew what I had until I got older, and now I have such an appreciation for the Colorado Ren Faire. I'm so happy you enjoyed it here!
I love seeing people experience my home Faire for the first time! As for the acreage, I'm pretty sure the park accessible to patrons is 50-60 acres, but the entire plot owned by the festival is close to 400 (parking lots and camp grounds for the traveling employees+ roads behind the Faire for employees)
I started going to the Colorado Renaissance Faire when I was a kid. Back in the day, it was HARD CORE Renaissance, the SCA crowd was intense, and the entertainment extremely bawdy. At some point all that changed, and now it's more like a Fantasy Faire themed crafts market than before. More family friendly, but it lost that edge that made it what it was. A shame.
@marebear1807 whaaat!?! The hecklers are gone?? What am I gonna do with all these coins 😭😂 no frfr they were one of the best parts growing up. I hope Puke and Snot are still performing..
@themarchhare154 yeah all the old favorites like dead Bob, the drunken pirates all the hecklers. Now the positive side is tomatoe justice still has the same guys for the last 25+ years
I live super close to the Todd mission faire you talked about!! You are right I went with a friend (a new kinda friend/not close) and she seemed bored the whole time and it was a drag to be there with her. I vowed to now only go with my husband or maybe a group with the understanding from the start that we don’t have to stay together lol. I want to stay in the group. But, others don’t lol. It’s just funny how the wrong people you go with can really drag the vibes down. Your friends seem amazing!
You should visit the Castle Muskogee one in Oklahoma. It’s about 3 hours from Dallas and it’s my favorite. It’s even got its own currency. It’s had the same actors for years. It’s very much a family and the prices are great.
I used to volunteer the Florida (Deerfield) so that will always my favorite one. I grew up with it so I can be biased lol but now that I live in Colorado after watching this i DEFINITELY need to try it out. I'm 20 minutes away, I should have no excuse. Ren Faire's are my happy place.

This was an amazing vicarious experience! The ren faire near me got canceled this year, and I've been pretty bummed because this was the first year I was going to have a costume for it. It was nice to at least get a taste of one, and I have to say the food there sounds incredible--I'm going to DQ for dinner because those chicken fingers looked bussin. Are you guys gonna do FanX this year or will you be gone by then? If you're going, I'm planning to do a medieval-Star Wars hybrid costume and my friends and I will be bringing a few sabers for people who want to learn to duel with them. Would love to see you there!
This is my Home Fair so to speak. I have attended it for about 20 weekends covering 19 years. It is a 5 hour drive for me. It has changed so much in that time. I know many vendors, cast members, and performers personally so it is always an enjoyable time. I recommend cushioned insoles inside of whatever footwear you use due to the hill climbing. Hopefully I will see you there in 2025.
I've been going to the CO ren faire for years and can say that if you're looking for a quick filling meal that's cheap, the smashed potatoes and corn on the cob a/o sausage on a stick is the way to go. Pretty cheap but very filling. I can usually get through an entire day at the faire with just that and water.
I haven't been to any sort of Renaissance event in years but I do wish I could go. Life just has gotten in the way but thank you for uploading these videos, it has helped with the void.
As you start traveling the renfair circuit you're going to notice that there's a number of vendors who also follow along on the way. The vendors rent spaces from each of these venues and if they don't make up the cost of the rent, they're not making any money. Not to mention most of these items are bespoke and these people need to pay bills. I hope at some point you get a chance to catch a Washing Well Wenches show. There are many of us who can actually tell where you are at just by who the pickle man is. Always do your shopping on the last day of the event. This is when vendors have to make or break. No one wants to load up all that crap and schlep it to the next location.
I lived the majority of my life about 20 minutes from the Texas faire. I basically grew up there alongside my best friends who would camp every year. Sadly though, it’s totally changed in the last 5 years or so. It’s grown so popular and so expensive that it’s basically become a tourist/circus attraction that’s lost a lot of its magic. Between the insane crowds and even more insane price hikes, it’s just not the same as it was when we went when we were younger. My husband and I just had to relocate to Colorado due to military mumbojumbo, and I was curious about the faire here. This honestly makes me so excited to go this summer! We are totally new to the area so hopefully I can reignite my love for faire in a smaller more intimate spot and make some Colorado friends 🖤🥺
Happy you went! This is my local fair and I think it's pretty good. Some of my best memories are from this fair. The weather is mercurial, it can get blazingly hot (good time to shop), and it can POUR (literal creeks in the streets). But I love the atmosphere and the people who work it are SO amazing and bring so much to the experience. On the clothing front, did you check out Noblesse Oblige? She is our favorite crafter at the fair and her stuff is amazing - but it IS pricey. Quality is incredible (have pieces from 20 years ago that look and feel new). Hope to catch you the next time you're out here!
While I do agree that getting in and out of the Faire is a pain, it would be worse if it was a large road, especially for the area. It's mostly farmland and natural spaces, so increasing traffic would have an overall negative effect out there. It IS a great Faire though, and my home faire. So happy to see it given some light!
There is a lot of walking but here in Colorado, we are pretty active and acclimated to the altitude. There are a couple routes in but do all join to one main road. Coming in "fastest" way off I-25 is rough. I approach from the west direction but that has become popular in recent years.
Oh, man! I have not been to this Ren Faire since 2003 when I was stationed in Colorado. Some great memories attending this Faire and really need to make the pilgramige to get back there.
I used to go every year. My girlfriend in high-school and her best friend (who's been my wife for 20 years) worked there in the latter half of the '90s. The turkey legs are the best, but the sodas have always been overpriced.
Me and my friends say that Anyone that's been going to Ren faire regularly for at LEAST five years, is at any given time, wearing well over $1,000 worth of garb. From boots to flower crown....for sure. lol
My Brothers and I went as Monks with DIY burlap sacks with armholes cut out and a rope belt and sandals which were readily accessible. Cost was minimal. This was the first Faire in the 60’s so things were less expensive anyway.
I heard this year that the GA ren faire is adding the fall season back, which thank goodness, because it’s too hot in the summer. I hadn’t been in at least decade until this year, and I was pleasantly surprised. I used to be one of a small contingent of people that went all out and dressed up. I was a weird kid who was obsessed with all things fantasy, and I had parents who could sew and build swords and wings and everything, so I went hard. I couldn’t believe that the majority of people there were dressed up! It was so much fun. I think that must be a factor in bringing it back in the fall; it’s just too hot to cosplay in anything but fairy stuff. Which is a real shame, considering the big money (and a lot of the fun) is in full armor and leather and layers and heavy swords to carry around. I really, really hope they do come back in the fall.
I always thought it was funny when some guys showed up in storm trooper costumes at this ren faire last time I went. They didn't used to let you have swords out like that.
Something to keep in mind when you go. If you can find someone who can buy the tickets at 2 for 1 such as military appreciation weekend. Have them buy tickets for you. The tickets can be used on any weekend the Renaissance Faire is open.
I go the opening weekends, and it's always packed, so you wait in the line for 30+ minutes for food. I feel like the food is overpriced for what you get. 😢
The Colorado Ren Faire is one of the nicest in the country. As is the Maryland Faire. But Texas Ren Faire (TRF) is the biggest and best. 50th year this year. 400+ shoppes and 11 stages I think. Attendance over the many weekend is 700,000 or more. It's huge but is so much fun. Halloween weekend is my favorite as most people are in costume.
I was a participant at the original Renaissance Pleasure Faires in California, for 20 years. The big difference is that there was what was called "Living History," an effort to convey the actual history of the Renaissance, so those faires had a program of historical shows, including the Queen's Progress through the faire, holding court, and a main show on the main stage. This all seems fairly random. But the main feature of all these faires has always been the food vendors and arts and craft shows, including those who sell the costumes and accouterments. These are really cosplay and fantasy faires.
I would like to go here. I have lived in Houston my whole life and have been to the faire nearby many times. I usually get severe migraine from all the dust, pollen, and probably the food (not even drinking alcohol). It would be nice to experience the faire in a different climate.
I mean, I knew thrift stores had "old" clothing, but I had no idea! 😆 I really feel like I should have already heard of Potion of Inebriation. But it cracked me up anyway.
The Colorado Ren Faire has shuttles that will take you from the parking areas to the front entrance to the Faire. Do that and save yourself a lot of walking.
Only really useful in the pm when you're tired. In the am, they are hard to find space on.
Thanks so much again for coming with me, I had a BLAST with you (even through all the funny mishaps 😂 ) this video is so well put together!
You are the best person to go to a Ren Faire with haha
As a native who has attended this faire many times, I'm glad you got to experience it. However, I can't believe you had a whole section about food and didn't mention the turkey legs! Nothing else will make you feel more medieval than getting a gigantic roasted turkey leg and a tankard of beer!
I was thinking the same! I always get one every year, it's like tradition at this point.
yea but the turkey legs are always dried out and tough
Getting married here this Summer. It is a good faire. I live this as a lifestyle even outside of faire so being able to go is beyond exciting for me.
You actually ended up interacting with most of our cast it seems!!! I was one of the fairy's on cast there and you caught videos of most of our cast!!! We pride ourselves off interactions!!! I'm glad you had so much fun
My home festival! Should you see a Redcoat in a tophat with either a blunderbuss or giant wrench over his shoulder, that would be me. Come say hello!

I love our fair. Right up the road is where Cliff Carrol made my blacksmithing anvil. Def use the shuttles.
I could watch a whole video of your interactions with people
Hahaha 🫶🫶🫶
There is a lot of walking but here in Colorado, we are pretty active and acclimated to the altitude. There are a couple routes in but do all join to one main road. Coming in "fastest" way off I-25 is rough. I approach from the west direction but that has become popular in recent years.
Gotta try the Rocky Mountain oysters next time! They are amazing!
if youre going to do colorado ren faire you have to get there at open to watch the queen and king open the gates!!
Oh, man! I have not been to this Ren Faire since 2003 when I was stationed in Colorado. Some great memories attending this Faire and really need to make the pilgramige to get back there.
loved this video 〠 you were so detailed about showing off the shops and foods and the entire renn faire in general !!
Great boots at Son of Sandlar. They do have a website. I have a pair that I’ve worn for years and they are really comfortable and look great
this was such a good watch, thanks!!
Kiki's eyes are STUNNING.
RIGHT!
I used to go every year. My girlfriend in high-school and her best friend (who's been my wife for 20 years) worked there in the latter half of the '90s.
The turkey legs are the best, but the sodas have always been overpriced.
Yes our fair can get hot... unless you get a pm rainstorm that can get intense. Usually didn't last long but the temperature drop can be dramatic.
Awesome video, I’ll be at the Bristol ren faire for the first time next weekend!!!
the Heda Lexa look 23:43 love it!!
Im stealing the line "this is my potion of inebriation."
12:24 I’m watching this and I am absolutely jealous and wanting to visit - your trip looks wonderful! Also, my name is Penelope 😂
the colorado ren fair is the only one i have ever been to. growing up here, we used to go a lot when i was young.
Minnesota ren fest is big! And fun! But also has a major parking problem.and it’s only getting worse.
The Venn diagram of Ren Faire staff and local swingers/poly community is basically a circle.
This was super informative thank you for this!!
You're so welcome!
Dual wielding two pickles is an easy achievement to unlock.
I love Ren faires, people are always awesome there too❤
If you're up for the trip, come to the MDRF
cool now i have another reasoon to come back to Colorado then besides visiting my aunt, didnt know this existed
I would like to go here. I have lived in Houston my whole life and have been to the faire nearby many times. I usually get severe migraine from all the dust, pollen, and probably the food (not even drinking alcohol). It would be nice to experience the faire in a different climate.
dark academia, renaissance fires, and the best part of the video is food? Me in a nutshell. literally
PRIORITIES 😂😂😂
@@justlanchen Totally.
14 acres in the festival. Total property acreage is 394.
Kiki is my spirit animal 🙏
same hah
I like renaissance fairs, I don’t cosplay, I don’t dress up, I just like the experience. I want to visit, and see. Subscribed.
Welcome to Colorado: Theres a lot of hiking here 😂
I mean, I knew thrift stores had "old" clothing, but I had no idea! 😆
I really feel like I should have already heard of Potion of Inebriation. But it cracked me up anyway.
Go to the FIRST Ren Faire in Minnesota, they all took their inspo from that one.
I have only bin to this one and It was great I had a turkey leg a big ass beer and loads of stuff to watch and buy.
