I absolutely loved it. I haven’t seen that at any other ren faire before. It felt very communal and was a great way to bring people together for a memorable experience 🫶🥹
I love that Americans are keeping jousting alive, in the UK we don’t have Ren faires but we have medieval events where people will reenact how medieval people lived, there’s sometimes jousting at them
Every time you post a Ren Faire video, I'm incredibly jealous! But thank you so much for sharing 💗 Loved the fact that you were wearing the ears and wearing jeans. A 21st century elf 😃
@@justlanchen My father in law lives in AZ and we mention the weather to each other quite often (we're both ancient, so there you go, right? :D ) The lowest he mentioned (recently) was 57 degrees, cloudy. That's shorts and tshirt weather for this Oregonian 😆😆 Aaaaaanyway, thank you and him so much for the vids that we can live vicariously through :)
That viking with the cool sword actually has a dragon tooth sword! I got a necklace from the shop that makes them while I was visiting the arizona faire. I want to get a sword from them so much but I live much too far away from any faires they sell at. They sell 'ethically harvested' dragon teeth items from collaboration with dragon dentists. The lore of the shop was part of the reason we went back 2 days in a row and got more necklaces!
I was a Hearald Trumpeter for the Royal Court at the NC RenFest which is the smaller sister to the AZ RenFest. Its amazing how similar the buildings are. I see they're still using the same costumes after 20 years. Well maintained. I never got to go there so thanks so much for sharing this!😂
I meant to mention that the best guest costumes I saw while working there were a group of Klingons! I approached them and mentiond what interesting costumes, and afflictions they had. I asked what brought them here? They were on the Holodeck!!! I about pissed myself laughing so hard!
Originally from Arizona. I miss the AZRF so much. I love how most of the buildings are built up. It just adds to the experience. The Ren Faire we have here in Sarasota is a RenFaire but nothing like what we have in AZ. 😢
There aren't many clothing booths there but there are some really cool ones. Domba Belly Dance, Pendragon Costumes, Ophelia's Clothing, Unicorn Clothing, Wardrobe for the Wandering Witch all have beautiful stuff. ✨️
The shots you got of the dancing and the musicians are absolutely wonderful!!!! This brings me so much joy I don’t think you understand!!! Thank you for capturing the experience at our faire!!
If you are interested, here in the UK we have historic re-enactment but it tends to be more historical accuracy than entertainment. There's a big one in the county of Kent every year. People spend the weekend there and they spend the entire time in character. Period tents, period clothes, period food, cooking utensils etc. They even dress up their toddlers in period clothes :) They also re-enact historical battles, which can get quite violent if the re-enactors get carried away.
YES! I am very interested. I’ve been looking into going to one actually. I love that the UK events are historical re-enactments! It makes me sad I don’t see more of that in the states. I’ll be sure to look up the one in Kent!! Thanks for the recommendation 🫶
@@justlanchen theres a really good one in tewksbury that i love that I recommend, but its much much smaller then renfaires. It has a huge battle that happens and theres tons of stalls. Templecombe is also good but is so tiny, The battle in that one i think is fun to watch but theres not many stalls
They're not in the video but seeing Tartanic (bagpipes and drums) perform is a must lol! Also the bread bowls are the best meal option but their almonds are good too.
I haven't been to this one in a few years and I live in AZ, now I'm bummed cause I am pretty sure its over for the year and I'll have to wait until next year.,
The jousts at Az were the best ! In Kc they don't have good Jousts. No " fights to death" . In KC its very theatrical and small tiny field no wood flying. but there is a historical society that makes cord weave etc , blacksmiths and chain mailers.
Wait wait wait..... girl said 75° was freezing????? ....... welp its 30° today here in MA and people are walking around in shorts lmaoooo but this is New England
You must have went during the first 2 week ends. It was very cold and rainy. Many more people dressed up on the other week ends. I get there at around 8:30 to 9 AM. Yes I have to wait, but I am the first in line. Gives me an hour before the first show I watch to have a cinnamon roll, look around, and or shop. I have been to many ren fairs and the AZ is the best. SO FAR. Thanks for another fine video, but I do have to disagree on the clothing options. The clothing shops are every where? Boss wench, a large store is located just to the right of the entrance of the joust area. And there are countless small open air shops in the lanes that have everything from belly dancing out fits to just about anything you could ever want or need. You would have to go several days just to see them all. Thanks.
I t'ink ye almost have t'make your faire garb modular, in order t'be ready for whate'er weather ye might face. Medieval Boy Scouts. But there be nae much ye can do when a muggy morn turns t'a mighty chill in the same day.
I simply MUST ask: Are you a fan of the _Lymond Chronicles_ ? At 18:49 you were holding one of Lady Dorothy Dunnett's books of the series. My wife convinced me to read the first one by promising to read one I selected for her. I hated that first book right up until I was just over halfway through. Suddenly the pieces started clicking together and i could not put it down. I binge read the entire series. I've read them 3 times now.
I worry. Do you like to wear ears? I don’t play because I am a HighLander so a kilt is acceptable and I follow Clan and Government deciding on my idea Do I carry a weapons? Umm it’s my legal right even in UK so yes I carry a long knife and a boot knife. It’s traditional and fun. Just be nice
Have you been to the Ren Faire near Pasadena? As far as I know its the closest faire to LA, one year I even took the gold line and just ubered into the park from there. IIRC they have a reenactment area near the front with traditional crafts and maybe a blacksmith or something like that, though it isn’t huge and is kind of non-obvious
I actually haven’t been to any fairs in California, but I am going to one this month, and I plan to go to the others through the rest of the year. That is so good to know that they have a reenactment area, I really love when they include history into these events.. it really does make it extra special
I just got finished going to Norman’s Medieval Fair in Oklahoma, where it cost $10.00 for parking, free admission, free maps, same prices for food, drinks, clothes, jewelry, rides, and King of the Log was available when I first went back in 1999, but isn’t there anymore. It’s always a fun experience I look forward to every year! I’m glad to check out Ren Faires in other states through your videos!
As the person who hosts the town dance here at the AZRF, I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed it and had fun! It tickles my heart to know that!!

Hahaha 🙈 I was so sad I didn’t get to wear my outfit. It was supposed to be 85 that day 😭

I moved back to Oregon from Arizona a few years ago and I definitely don't regret it, but man I miss the AZRF!

Grew up going to this every year. It’s truly one of the best faires in the country. Amazing and truly wonderful shows.
I go to the Arizona Renfest every year. It's so much fun!
The Arizona Ren faire was my first and I loved it!!!! Changed my life for the better
Fun! I go to the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Wisconsin (just over the Illinois border)🖤
I always enjoy going to the AZ renn fest every year, for those wanting less of a crowd I recommend going on sunday.
Im going to the Oregon ren faire for the first time this summer and I'm super excited!
Ah!!!! I can’t wait for you to experience the fun🫶🥹

Those leather masks look amazing, I want one so bad now

Gosh, the nostalgia! I used to live in AZ and that Ren Faire really set the bar high for me. So glad you got to experience it!

See you at the Louisiana Ren Fest maybe.
Wow I miss the old book stores. Different times

In Austria there are mostly areas where you can see the medieval life 😊 but the Festivals are much smaller than yours. I love them anyways 😄

There were only a couple clothing shops here unfortunately.
