    So much praise regarding the Russian Savinova. The commentators forgot that the master of the running universe had another rabbit from her hat-like she does all the time in virtually all the marathon races all over the world.
    Kenya is a cut above. Great work Eunice!

    I don't know about that. Kenya has won ALL men's 3000m steeplechase in the Olympics since the 80s, the longest winning streak in the Olympics. They've actually delivered a clean sweep in the steeplechase and it's probably their best race, better than the marathon actually. Also the Usain Bolt of the 800m is from Kenya. His name is Rudisha and he's the best 800m runner of all time. He holds the world record and the olympic record and he keeps breaking the records. He just never loses that race.

    Kenyan have always won 800 m both men and women, 1500 is a Kenyan race, 3000m steeplechase has been won by Kenya the last almost 20 years...what are you talking about?

    Americans have recently produced some remarkable talent at middle distance races. The problem is they don't know how to run an 800 or 1500m... yet. As for Sum, she is a born fighter and a very clever athlete. Well done Sum, well done Kenya!

    If you push too much in the first lap of the 800m, sure you will pay it.
    But I respect Alysia Montaño anyway, I think thats the way an 800m should be run.

    wow at around 2:30-2:40 Poistogova (blond russian) intentionally elbows wilson (US gal on the outside). I mean Poistogova wound up and everything, it was more of a punch than an elbow). I've never seen something that blatant.

    What sport are you watching? Kenya won the Men's 800m Olympic title last year, the women's 800m in 2008. Are easily the best at men's 1500m and completely dominate the men's 3000m steeplechase.

    Sad for Montano, given her successful use of the tactic in the semis. Savinova looked pretty pleased actually, she was shaking her head after her earlier runs, and only run thrice this year and obviously wasn't in form and looked relieved with her silver. Sum is a new one to watch.

      Please qualify what you are the best. In running you may be the best now. But do you have weightlifting champion? You are thin almost malnourish or is it? long thin legs very good for running. The other countries have different physical prowes they are big with their body arms and legs and so they always take the weightlifting chmapionship which you kenyans can not have.

    So glad she won, nice to see a Kenyan win something much shorter than a marathon. Nothing against sunglasses , but watching this competition completely, I really hated those that ran, spirited, did high jumps etc.. , what ever with shades on. I felt they had to loose.

    Montano could have finished third if she could stick with the inside lane, she gave way for Martinez to win a bronze easy as she was running wide making the distance to the tape longer.

    Quite a poor standard this year. None of Savinova's rivals from previous championships were present and she seemed well below her level from past seasons. Maybe the Kenyan will do great things in the future though.
