@ me too!
.. oh wait, I AM a dad! All is well then!
Geddy Lee, Les Claypool, Cliff Burton, Steve Harris, and Victor Wooten. Nothing can beat those five bassists
what song was the dad clip?
@@joshuamason8992 YYZ by Rush
I dont care about being first but if ur looking at this I just wanna say thanks for showing how cool bass is, ur an inspiration (and a decent comedian!)
My goodness. I don't think I've ever seen bass guitar skills at this level before. Absolutely incredible.
I fall directly into the victor Wooten catagory, ain't go not grove is a really easy victor Wooten song to start off with, really recommend it
I'd disagree, the lesson or sex in a pan are much easier, although i'd say none of them fit the moniker "really easy" lol
One musician to another: The talent some people possess... blows my mind. You are incredible KEEP GOING!!
You missed the most important one. After "anime fans" you should've had, "90's/00's anime fans" and played the bassline for Cowboy Bebop
MD Geist actually has the credited jazz fusion score.
u ready for the live action reboot
Wouldn't sound right cuz that's a stand up bass.
@@therealdudeski you realize he also plays piano music on the bass. i don’t think there’s really such a thing as sounding “right”
@@therealdudeski Yea, because every other piece he played, was originally on a bass.
The Metallica joke was great! Also, Mr. Bungle (Mike Patton from Faith No More's side band) used to play a Star Wars Cantina Band/Super Mario Bros. Theme medley at their shows.
The duet with the animal was adorable! ✨ Bravo Charles you always demonstrating all kind of collabs are possible with all living species in this world 🌎 you are my BASShero.
1:04 I pissed my pants here laughing!!
Jason Newsted was sooooooo disrespected in this album.
Great work @CharlesBerthoud , you're nailing it!! Keep it up
Awesome bass playing
Is that the forbidden riff ?
@@tomjoad1363 no… at that point, Lars and James were basically hazing Jason and they told the producer to make the bass essentially inaudible on And Justice for All.
It stings even more when you hear how good his bass sounds on the garage days album. If only they had mixed justice the exact same way lol 😅
i'm not even a dad and hearing YYZ made me happy asf
This was the most insane bass playing I’ve ever heard! Dude you’re a legend!! For the anime one, I know the melody to Giorno’s theme is iconic, but you should totslly check out the bassline for that and other Jojo songs. They’re really jazzy and seem like they’d be very fun to play!
Now do "what Tool fans want you to play", and play Schism.
„If SCHISM was the hardest song in the world“
This tool fan wants the grudge please, thanks
@@class6853 No, I need this now
Really anything from Lateralus
Sleep. Gotta play the pot or Rosetta stoned
Don't get me wrong Cliff Burton will always be Metallica's best bassist, but Jason Newsted was an amazing bassist... he was chosen over Les Claypool in his audition
To be fair, Jason was a far better fit for the band than Les. Jason is a great metal bassplayer and his style fitted very well with Metallica. I think Les Claypool is a better bassist overall, but his style doesn't really fit with Metallica.
@@A.J.K87 you are correct. I saw an interview where Hetfield said Les auditioned and they were like wow man - you go do your own thing!
Wouldnt want Lars ruining Les Claypool
@@angelofdeath4721 I have seen Some kind of monster. But Les absolutely did audition after Cliff died. Not after Jason left. Watch this interview with Les: ruclips.net/video/uS6gwp6SeXM/видео.html
@@A.J.K87 I stand corrected. My bad, sorry mate. I deleted my other comments to others on this post since I am clearly in the wrong. Thanks for giving me the correct info.
As a small addition to the passage: For those who think it's a guitar: Through the Fire and Flames has a similarly light bass line: D
And justice for all era Metallica got me. 😂😂😂😂
Loved YYZ what way to end a brilliant video. Not a Dad, but in that age range. I'm not at Geddy's level, but try to learn Rush songs to improve my own playing. Hat's of to you, humour and skill in one video, plus a Davie504 nod :-)
Can’t help watching this every now and then. Great technician, extraordinary feel and so good at impro. Utter respect for the man.
2:01 ÉPICO ! ! !
As a dad, Rush fan, bassist for 30 years, I TOTALLY LOLd at the “Dads” section at the end. So true! Haha😂 he called it.
0:51 yes yes, Cliff was a god, I'm sure we all agree on that. I'd like to see more Les Claypool. Oh and Dad's have good taste in music
RUSH is eternal
Nailed me with "Dads"
Agreed
His what I want to play is pretty Claypool already
Yeah, cliff-era-Metallica is the best thing that exists
🎸you have to imagine it's a bass
Absolutely!
without glasses it is a bass lol
Fun fact: the Seinfeld theme is originally played on bass synth.
But the people asking don't know that :)
For those who don't understand what this guy said

A DX7, by the sound of it.
Oh really
It's a Korg M1, released in 1988
I’m so happy you played YYZ that was badass.
4:18 omfg u are a genius. My dad is an actual bassist and he actually plays YYZ - Rush. LAUGHED MY ASS OFF
music's awesome btw, legendary bassline.
Being a "dad", I can totally relate. If I heard my daughter playing 5G, I'd pass out with pride. This video was spot on!
How has this bass god remained hidden from me?
2nd like! Insane how Charles can anchor his index finger on a low note fret and skip a fret to play notes with his remaining fingers like it's nothing.
the talent show one blew my mind, it never really occurred to me that with something like bass or guitar you can play two separate melodies one high and one low.
ok but the "what I wanna play" and "davie504" fucking slapped though holy shit.
and victor wooten and of course... dads.
dont forget "passionate bass fans"
Love your playing! Amazingly awesome!
Thanks for sharing your talent with the 🌎 🤗♥️
0:39: Make a full version of it please
Same it's so short and I like it lol
I'm not a dad but still I would love to hear you play anything by Rush haha. Great vid!
Very well done! You've got great chops and a sense of humor to match. I also thought I'd leave after the first few examples, but your playing is interesting enough that I felt compelled to stick around and see what each next example would be. As for my own preference, I'm a fan of the "Passionate Bass Fan (Victor Wooten)" style. Thank you!
🤣 many of those are so on point.
This list is hilarious because it's true
„My Neighbours“ I as a drummer felt that 😅
