@Aberdeen Harder Unfortunately i have seen plenty of exactly that. You try to help someone, but they get annoyed. I think most of the time it's because they either (think) they know better, or take any acceptance of help as a sign of personal weakness. Either way that just reinforces the feeling of "i don't want to help anyone ever again" and makes you look like a jerk to people who _want_ your help. In the end the anxiety is still there. This is definitely me projecting, but this entire article is something an abuser would tell their victim. Even with the “it’s you who let your boss shout at you” thing and promoting codependency aside, the whole message of this article is that you have no self worth, and that it’s useless to try to do ANYTHING to better your own life. Don’t try to do good deeds for other people because they’ll find you annoying and don’t need you anyway. Don’t try to get a job because there’s always someone “better than you” who will be chosen instead. And don’t you *dare* try and be confident in yourself, you’re just masquerading how ugly and lazy you really are. All of these sound exactly like what an abuser would say to keep you vulnerable and in line.
In Canada, if you're applying for a job that pays more than minimum wage or isn't a factory job, they actually do expect you to bring a copy of your diploma.

Oh my God literally the body positive stuff killed me. People saying bold things like I love my fat are boldly rejecting the restrictive beauty standards foisted upon them. That has literally nothing to do with not taking care of yourself.
body positivity, laziness, cracked nails?! i want to get rid of this involuntary nail-biting i've had for years. Others don't choose to be "hygiene-lazy", nor are we "body positive" about that either. Some of us are trying hard to cope up with our hygiene yet these people think it's a lack of motivation, what a disappointment. (sorry for the bad english)
I have a habit of pulling hair, nail biting, and skin peeling/biting as a stress reliever (not healthy Ik) and it’s physically impossible to stop myself. It would be stupid to blame someone for something that is natural to them and a reflex essentially.

Bright Side does a lot of skits, referring to the first picture, but in reality the people there are basically forced to work and have no creative influence on what they do, referring to the second photo. Holy crap we got to save this guy man
Its so funny how most people like the ones that write and enjoy these articles don't understand that "being lazy/messy" or whatever they call it is not something that everyone can control. My boyfriend has been struggling with mental issues and found himself not being able to go outside, clean his house or wash the dishes. Everyone should be respectful of others mostly because they don't know their history.
it still puts down others so you can raise yourself. It's a good start to self-help, but leans into the directions of superiority. how about "what one person might be good at, another person might not. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses."

Source: a depressed former high schooler. Seriously, those "explanations" sound exactly like stuff i kept thinking about myself.
Especially dreading adult hood because it's depicted as the loneliest, darkest, emptiest thing
"Do i help that person? Do i NOT help that person? But what if..."
@@AgentWest well, I just help people regardless, maybe they'll hate me, maybe they'll appreciate what I'd done, it simply doesn't matter to me. As long as I know that my intention was to make someone's situation better, I'll gladly lend a hand.

I can’t wait to send the clip of Jarvis pulling down the neck of his hoodie and yelling “objectify me” to friends out of context.

This list is the most pessimistic, depressing thing I’ve heard from something with such a positive name like “Bright Side” lol
7:27 what's wrong with not shaving your armpits, the hair in places like that actually helps your hygiene

Hi greg
Jarvis going off about body positivity gave me such a confidence boost.
Bruh, this author legit hates his job. #9 on the Self Confidence, it talks about bright stuff like cars and houses being bad, and how that’s manipulative. This is BRIGHT Side. Colorful stuff like houses and cars are all over the channel. Thinking positively is one of the main goals of Bright Side.

“There’s always someone better than you” -bad, disheartening
“There’s always people that are worse than you” -good!
it still puts down others so you can raise yourself. It's a good start to self-help, but leans into the directions of superiority.

"theres no point in sacrificing yourself for others"
Well objectively speaking no.
But humans are social creatures, and helping other humans do make us feel happy.
So.....
Sacrifice yourself for others is actually how humanity got where it is, co-op is why we've done so much despite how weird the human body is.

“body positivity is not about the absence of self-care” why not just say you hate fat people and love gendered beauty standards, bright side ?? lol
That statement without their bullshit argument and image is valid imo, not necessary to state cos it’s clear what the intent is but it’s valid
Harold that’s fair, but i think the subtext of the statement is that being body positivity doesn’t mean you should “let yourself go”, which is a pretty icky statement! body positivity isn’t about whether or not you work out, you know?
Francisco Aguayo why not? someone’s weight does not determine their health. and besides, someone’s body and health is not ours to judge!
Abigail C yes you’re right I agree. I admitted they shouldn’t have said that plus it was clear their intent was bad
